Also in-game you can hear two soldiers talking about Bonnet, they don't say his name but make it obvious it's him, they say he was caught in Barbados and was hung while crying and begging for his life. The two soldiers making fun of him.
Make the Brits and spainards pay for what they did to bonnet
MickMaan Actually, you _do_ hear them say his name. I assume you're talking about that mission where you escape that prison and try to free Mary aka James Kidd. If I remember correctly, they get to the topic of him when specualting about some pirates possibly being bought into freedom by Bonnet, since he seemed to be doing rather well for himself financially.
+JeDk Gaming cheers, he was my great great great great great great great great great grandfather!
what mission
lil Ghost 9o9 The mission in the Jamacian prison. They actually do say his name.
It is sad that bonnet had to die he was a good person :(
+Etroarl55 It is sad that I lost my great great great great great great great great great grandfather...
I'm sorry for your loss
Hypo Gamer you mug you don't have the same surname as any of your ancestors on your mother's side do you if you follow the traditional way of a husband giving his name to the wife...
Wtf?
Etroarl55 let the kid live the dream lol
Thank you Internet Historian
Yes
STEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDE!
ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING TO ME?!? YOU'RE ALWAYS LOOKING AT THAT STUPID OLD BOAT!
"Dash my bottons, your life seems a grand one, if I may say. So full of adventure! How marvelous." Stede to Edward
The death differences between Bonnet and Blackbeard are literally 18 days.
Nah cuz Edward escaped the prison 4 months later after roberts betrayed him
@@czmiel3965 so its been 4 months since he died then
@@its_saval probably
Interesting fact, thanks for sharing!
Poor Stede, all he ever wanted was some adventure in his life.
It legitimately blows me away that Stede Bonnet was a real person
I usually Google every character in AC games to see which characters are real people. I initially didn’t even bother with him because I assumed he must have been fictional.
That's one of the things about assassin's creed..... Just about every person that you run into or kill is somebody who is real. Of course you kill the person in the same exact place and time that they were killed or died...circumstances differ of course
Most of them
it's more mind blowing there's an hbo show of him
@@devpac7861 seriously?
Imagine a Stede Bonnet DLC where you start as him being a sweet, loveable and clumsy guy that as the game goes on he slowly turns into a badass, still sweet and clumsy as he was but would kick major ass if pushed too far. Perhaps so bad ass that the reason why he never found Black Beard was because even Black Beard became afraid of Stede's might.
"Oi, remember that Bonnet chap that I scared the shit out of when I wore me devil fuse hat? Looks like we switched roles, I gotta get the hell outta here from this Devil Bonnet."
What a nice guy,
shame...
+Brian Hunt my great great great great great great great great great grandfather...
Tom Barnes really? you better not be lying...
Brian Hunt he actually was, the line went
Stede Bonnet
Edward Bonnet
Oriana Bonnet
Oriana Harris
Sarah Thomas
Henrietta Heathorn (married T.H Huxley)
Jesse Huxley
Noel Huxley
Audrey Waller
Jeremy Barnes (my granddad)
Adam Barnes (my dad)
Tom Barnes (me)
You can check most of that out
Tom Barnes That is so cool! It must be interesting to have a great great great granddad in a game! :D
@@tombarnes155 That's genuinally super fuckin' cool.
How can there be a dislike for this video hahah, there is nothing to dislike about it. Its informative and is dealing with one of the most successful franchises to hit a console.
I'm so glad you feel that way. I mean, everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but I must say that all this positive support really means a lot to me.
-Robius5991
Keep it up bud, I had no idea that Stede Bennot was a pirate so thank you for that!
***** My pleasure! If you're interested, be sure to check out other episodes. I personally learned a lot about the individuals while making the videos.
-Robius5991
+OnlineKnights this is pretty cool for me having found out that he was my great great great great great great great great great grandfather!
Tom Barnes Yeah sure
i know this game came out years ago, but just got it and finished from the recent steam sale.
I was REALLY impressed with the writing of Stede Bonnet's character. At first, it seemed like he was going to literally be the Jar Jar Binks of the game/story - but they actually treated his character with respect. He was written with much more depth than just comic humor in the dark pirate story. I couldn't help but smile at the last scene in-game with him - I actually was happy for him as a character/person in the end, actually feeling like I was saying goodbye to a hearty, good man.
I got the feeling in that last scene he was going off on his own reluctantly, and almost desperate for Edward to save him from it somehow.
Yeah. He was definitely one of my favorite characters from this game. That's why my heart sank when the guards were talking about him dying.
It's a little disappointing to learn that Stede was quite a more impressive figure in history, but he was actually probably one of my favourite characters.
The saddest part for me is that I'm only finding this out now :(
I'll never forget him running carelessly behind those guards
Haha yeah the first tailing mission, he got so close damn...😂
This guy faced a Man O' War?? Jaysus Ade!
I just found out that he was my great great great great great great great great great grandfather!
Liam Turner it's actually true as well
very very very nice genes right there
That's really cool dude, wonder if any of my ancestors were pirates. 🤔
TheMysteriousDumbaz1 if bonnet was Tom's grandf grand... Jesus was my uncle
Tom Barnes how did you find out?
Well if you want to see more detailed version with lots of shitpost, check internet historian: incognito's sundane rejects.
STEEEEEEEEEEEDE
STEEEEEEEDE
Carefully choose your words the last name is still here alive and kicking....... Lol arrr
Tito Rivera
+David Bonet bonnet had 2 N's in it
Bonnet is a good person. You save him in the beginning of the game. How about a video of woodes rogers or el tiburon (both in ac4)
I FEEL BAD FOR STEDE BONNET BECAUSE ONCE I READ HOW HE DIED I WAS SHOCKED.I KNOW HE WAS HANGED SOUTH SOMEWHERE I AC4 BUT I CANT FIND IT. UNLESS HE IS ON THE LEGENDARY SHIP I FOUND SOUTH
he was found in a legendary ship?
I didn't ever knew when he died in AC4, o just realized when he was included in the scene with all the dead characters...
Cool. I never knew any of this. Tbh I thought that Bonnet was a character that was introduced just for the sake of the game. Very cool. I'll definitely be watching more.
+Joel Walden he was my great great great great great great great great great grandfather!
+Tom Barnes Now all you need is an Animus.
@@tombarnes155 we get it
Rewatching this because of “Our Flag Means Death”
If AC 4 story lasted longer, it would have been pretty cool to see Stede Bonnet turn from "gentleman" behavior early in the game to the more experienced, steely pirate as history remembers him towards the game's end, before he dies. And Edward witnesses perhaps one of his final battles.
There is a side mission a Templar hunt which gets you to kill Vance and a girl with him when you complete the mission you get all the information about them
Although that may be true, I have never found any historical record of either Vance Travers, Upton Travers or Jing Lang, therefore even though the game may offer some information about them, I believe it is all fictional.
-Robius5991
Can’t wait to watch “our flag means death” on HBO.
Did he actually cry at the end, of is that only mentioned in the game?
that's weird, I have 2 brother and one sister and my dad left us and my mom's name is Mariya, what a coinsidence
lol your dad must be stede bonnet! ;)
+Awesomesauce24 my great great great great great great great great great grandfather!
Awesomesauce24 lol ya probably
In AC4 he's like a Red Dead Redemption character, which is awesome!
Nigel West Dickins, right? I like those types of characters.
stede bonet is from barbados but why is he flying a british flag instead of a barbados flag ????????
the big cheese I think Barbados was colonised by Britain
You cant call it american coastline america wasnt a thing back then it was called the americas
Steve bonnet pronounced bow-nay, is my great x6 grandfather , he was a wealthy man and became a pirate because he was bored, my grandmother just passed away and I found this out , he was hung in Charleston on the steps of the courthouse , pretty crazy
Wow! That is very interesting! Do you also know any distant cousins?
thats not what happened they were out looking for charles vane and ended up finding bonnet then he was hanged
no more spoiler alerts for me cause i finished the entire assassins creed 4 black flag game it was awesome
But How About People He Didn't
"Steve decided he would go to NASA." I love subtitle errors. XD
It is spelt like Nassau
at 3:35 you mention ocracoke, it's not in england however it's in north carolina. it's odd bonnet never found blackbeard considering he was only just up the coast. maybe 30-50 miles or so.
Lol atm I'm in nc teaching classes about Blackbeard in boufourt
Stede Bonnet was just so wholesome in this game!
And a TV show made him and Blackbeard as gay couple…
Hey man I am impressed with the work you've done with this channel and gives me some inspiration to stick with my online courses. I loved him as the game character and thought that the devs would make him the QM after the 1st mission. After reading about his history that would have been an honor. +1'ed.
Onlineknights.... If you are interested, you should read Tryals (1724). (Available free online)
It details the trial of Stede Bonnet. It is surprisingly easy to read having been written in 1724. The judge does sound like a semi overzealous priest though.
I understand that Bonnet begged for his arms and legs to be cut off instead of being executed.
In one of the missions you can hear two guards say that bonnet was hanged it was the one where you kill jack rackaum
Well done :D I like learning the history of characters. One suggestion though to make this better: Invest in a pop-filter xD the popping sound of your P's and such dampen everything. :D well done though
Bonnet used his smarts and organization skills to become a pretty good pirate; I guess that is the most skillful as you can get with out prior experience in piracy.
The real history and real bonnet is definitely cooler than somewhat pathetic pirate in black flag
but i loved his black flag version :(
Yah! and when I was in the mission to die with out suffering u can hear 2 guard talking about hes hanging...thats how i found out :~; They said he cried like a baby lamb before hand not to be hanged,then i killed them for assholes cause after they jus ltao about it ;~; I wish i could have seen him one more time hes was soo sweet ;~;
In real life history. Stede bonnet owned land and many sugar plantations, he left all this and became a pirate. Historians believe he was mad (Insane)
You have to give credit to his Quartermaster: Robert Tucker. He was the real MVP and helped Bonnet so much.
Can you please do one on thieves from ac 2-revelations because i know there was an actual thieves guild in the renaissance time period
British Captain: are you Stede Bonnet?
Stede: no, i am Btede Sonnet.
British Captain: ......forgive my rudeness, you may continue sail now.
Thanks for doing these. They're well made, interesting, and a great antidote to the slightly lost feeling that accompanies completing the game. Cheers.
Bonnet was a real person?! up to now I thought he was a comic relief character just made for the AC series. Damn O_o
This is why I start to dislike where assassin's creed is going tough, I would have LOVED the game to have been as history accurate as possible,
having bonnet becoming a actual pirate early on and being betrayed by black beard would have added way more to the story, rather then bonnet being a "joke" the entire story.
OK bonnete was not a real person but u wanna know somethin cool, black beard was real
+LandenOf “ZombieOfBlack85” ZOM
yeah he was a real person
+jefthereaper he was my great great great great great great great great great grandfather
Hardly relevant though
Yes he was
Imagine a Stede Bonnet DLC where you start as him being a sweet, loveable and clumsy guy that as the game goes on he slowly turns into a badass, still sweet and clumsy as he was but would kick major ass if pushed too far.
"Real history"? More like history the Templars wrote!
Stede bonnet looks nothing like his real life self in this game
Still jealous of that awesome look Blackbeard (likely) invented: lit fuses fixed to your hat...come on, that's awesome^^
Then goes on and leaves Stede nothing but...the...revenge...!?! Man...
Ocracoke isn't pronounced "O-Crack-Oak", its pronounced "Oaker-Coke" / not complaining, Just an FYI from someone who lives near by the island.....
Wait, what? i never knew he died during ac4?
You HAVE TO LOOK for that info thru the prison mission segment, alongside that of Rackman and Vane's...I got it just by pure luck back then😒🤦♂️...Yeah, as much I loved BF, Ubi sucks at story telling, many of the core narrative for secondary characters feel so "disconnected" they should've had took notes from Bioware on that subject😒
"Take my sugar, take anything you like..": stede bonnet 1715 just before meeting Edward kenway
I'd play a game where captain Bonnet was the main character, that would have been awesome
Ill have your entire stock
Seemed like a bit of a badass
I liked and subscribed. You deserve it buddy! :D
Thanks man, that really means a lot. Glad you enjoyed the video!

Han är dessutom i min släckt och han skrev visa böcker om han själv och
jag har ärvt dom också.
Visa saker är inte sant!
The German speaker is better from Edward when the English because You heare realy the Pirat Out of it
Bonnet is liek my favorite character. He looks so innocent
You know why Pirates REALLY wear Eyepatches for?
So... the Queen Anne's Revenge was originally Bonnets?
I wonder if Edward ever fond out what happened to bonnet I know the 2 of them were good friends I'm sure if Edward found out he was devastated
He did find out, I think that's why in the ending scene it showed all of Edward's friends including bonnet.
What about prince sulieman in assassin's creed revelations
I will make them suffer rise up to avenge bonnet
Not just the ending that gives me chills seeing him at the parting glass but also when he says his final farewell to Edward and thanks him for pushing him to explore places and feel free as a pirate made me cry man.🥲
everything that he said was wrong
jk
poor bonnet
Like the video, but bro get a spit guard for your mic! Every p and b lead to and unpleasant cracking noise, just saying :\
Fun Fact : Edward Teach (Blackbeard) had 14 wives.
Nice
Stede reminded me of David Brent from The Office for some reason.
Was the 1,000 person to like this vid
Most legendary pirates died in 1700s
MarshVenny
Well duh, it wasn’t called “the golden age of piracy” for nothing. There were loads of them
@@quagmire4469 this was 5 years ago
MarshVenny
Yeah... and?
Edward should of let him join his own crew
He was my favorite character R.I.P
why, are you with machinima
This game is too sad
Han plundrade ju också.
Calico Jack :D
Bonnet is an actual badass
Do smuggler Vance from assassins creed 4
Sorry, but as far as I know Vance Travers was not a real historical figure. I'll do a little more research to confirm that, but I wouldn't hold my breath for it. Sorry about that.

Stede is a coward and he woldnt fight in the mission The Devls Avcate but plz do addawarle plz
He was one of my favorite characters after the Kenway and Blackbeard
Bonnet should have been the main protagonist!
