    thanks for the video Sydney,.what do you suggest if one is starting from scratch without a website for a coaching service. Would you suggest run video views first and then re target them ..

      The first thing you need to do when you are starting from scratch is making sure you have product market fit. You need to get sales to prove that this is something people really need and want.
      You can do this by using Facebook ads (which can be expensive if you are trying to test your product) and I would suggest using the conversion objective. You do not need to "season the pixel" with the method you mentioned. What you do need however is a proven system to make sure the main variables you are testing with FB ads is the creatives and audiences... Not the product.
      I would suggest using a broad audience with great ads.
      But if you are starting from ground zero, I actually suggest that if you start by using more "traditional" forms of selling. Like starting visiting tradeshows, markets, starting conversations online, selling to friends and family, etc to get their feedback. Prove that you have a good product before asking Facebook to promote your product!

      Same rules apply, but use a maximum mile radius that is appropriate for that business.

    Hi, dumb question but I'm new - do you have to be subscribed to facebook ads or can this be done in a regular post?

      You should use ads manager. While you can "boost a post" on the front end of Facebook, but I wouldn't recommend it.

    FB is very cryptic about interest targeting - like what are the specific set of parameters, triggers, user actions and behaviors they use to categorize someone as a, let say "yoga enthusiast"? merely that they liked a facebook page (an action that isn't as relevant as it was in 2009)? I'm gonna scoot on over to tiktok i think!

      Facebook uses many data points to determine the interests like Facebook pages users like, the content they engage with on Facebook, and the things they post. They used to get data from behavior users would take OFF the platform, but there is less of that now. So, as the platform evolves it has become better to use a broad audience vs a super narrow one.

      3 different ad sets :) I would test 2 at a time (for budget purposes and simplicity)

      Personally I like to use ABO and compare results at the ad level against those audiences.

      Detailed targeting expansion? This is usually checked on by default now, but I'd recommend having it on!

    Great video Sydney! At 9:20 you said to make sure "when you are adding a few together, to make sure they are the same look-a-likes to test out the differences". I am not sure what "adding a few together means". Also, how do I "make sure they are the same and test out the differences"? Can you please clarify? Thank q!

      So if you are adding a few lookalikes together such as add to cart, purchases, customer list.... make sure they are all the same % of lookalikes so that if you test a 2% vs a 3%, you know that all the audiences in your lookalikes were the same %. Hope that helps!

    Look alike drops down results on video ads after 2 days on my account what's your suggestion/ advice for list look alike / purchase based look alike?

      Only test lookalike audiences if you have over 1k purchase customers list. Even then they mostly don't work well anymore because of ios 14.5 updates. Best to just stick with broad prospecting audiences and test ad creatives

      @@myentertainment0077 I still say go Broad. Undergarments are not very niche. I have a client who sells photo booth software to people who own photo booths but only ios device booth. I still go Broad and it works. Just make better ads and broaden your search. If the same thing keeps happening then your lookalikes aren't working are they

      This narrows it too much and is irrelevant as most people have data anyways.

    When you are targeting your audience, do you search for words that a user would search for? For example, i sell digital music products called sample packs to music producers & beatmakers. Since i want to target Music Producers & Beat Makers, Do i search for "music producers" who would buy the sample packs i sell, OR, do i put in "sample packs" as if im the customer (music producer or beat maker) thats looking or interested in the sample pack products?

      As of now, find a search term that is as broad as possible. We are moving away from very specific targeting and leaving it more broad. The real targeting comes with the creatives. So if you are to use any targeting, choose the broadest term possible.

      @@jinkazama2555 Would happen anyway if that user shows intent to like the broad term. But, don't get too hung up on the targeting. We are shifting into a time where the creative does the targeting. Use wording and content that would call directly to people who want shoes and the creative will create it's own audience.

      It truly depends on what you sell and how much it costs. If you are totally new, id start with at least $20 per day per target (bare minimum). then, at least 2-5x your target CPA once you get better data. But budget can scale indefinitely.

      California and Toronto should have their own ad sets. As for detailed targeting, I would be more focused on making videos and images that show Filipinos it's for them vs using detailed targeting!

      Yes, if your target market is on Facebook. But keep your Facebook page active (post content there too if you will run ads on Facebook)

      How is that working for you? I can almost guarantee that you would get similar results if you left the age open since FB would just spend the budget on the age range that is most relevant.

      @@realcorkdan That's a lot of places with very small budget. My suggestion is to focus on one country until you get profitable, consistent results. Much more sustainable. Also, choose automatic placements.
