The civic should absolutely drop the plaid but when they went together (the last race) the plaid had more instant torque and the civic pulled it back slowly!! But it should have pulled it back very quickly and flew past!! Imagine racing 2 petrol cars one 100hp car vs 160hp the same weight, the 160hp car would win very easily!!

None of them were clean, but under the right conditions that civic would certainly be neck & neck with that Tesla, if not a bit ahead. A lot plays into this race but science cannot be defeated, power to weight ratio. The scales tip in the civics favor, and it was turned down. If that civic was AWD I doubt he would’ve spent his time doing this.
Plus the Tesla Plaid model s is stock with nothing add to it..I can't wait to see it tuned with the electronically limited removed that thing gonna be nuts

I've owned a few hondas that were modded, I also now own a Tesla M3P... I love both. The first car I ever owned was an ef hatch. The fact that the civic is practically half the weight with practically the same power bodes well for Tesla.

I love Tesla and all they do. Love the Plaid. Made respect for racing rolls. Most of the time Tesla owners race from dogs which is not fair against ICE in my opinion. AWD+Instant TQ of course they are beast from a dig. But roll racing evens the playing field out and make it all about power to weight vs seeing if the other car can put down the power or not. Every since the plaid came out I've been wondering what was going to happen to the race industry as a whole. Someone else said it on here, and I will also say it that plaid vehicle was made as a direct marketing strategy to bring everyone to electric, especially gear heads. Why ? Well because a 10 sec car alone is not enough, vehicles nowadays need to be tuned for a quarter mile plus high way race. This civic is the prerfect example. New race cars will have to either be able to put more power to the ground or be light with balanced horsepower to take on the new generation of speed.

The purchase of a tesla was strictly because it fit a personal need. Not because we are tree huggers. We race a soon to be not stock anymore challenger ScatPack. We talk about this all the time. It's hard to get around the instant torque of those electric motors on the Tesla. But you gotta give it to the Civic for not only hanging but even leaving the Tesla with an insane top speed! That a ludicrous speed Civic right there! That was fun to watch!!

The coolest thing about Tesla that amazed me my first ride was how bored you can be going so fast. Getting back into a Miata felt crazy once the engine came to life and I grabbed the shifter. Hell, even driving my clapped out Prelude makes me feel way more in my heart and soul.

EVs are insanely fast, it weighs an accord more than that civic and pulls like a freight train from 0-its speed limiter. Not to take away from how awesome the civic is but it's a much more straitforward approach to going fast, lots of power, minimal weight, minimal drivetrain loss.
The tesla did win The race was over at the point in the video were it says across the screen that the tesla hit the 163mph limiter. At that point the race was over and the Honda was about a car to 3/4 car behind.

There is only one car I'd choose over a PLAID for a daily driver, that would be URUS. With that said the only thing I don't like about EV's at the moment is the aesthetic. I cannot wait until supercars are fully electrified.

It should kill the tesla in the 1/2 mile for 2 reasons ..... 1 the tesla is currently limited to 163mph which it reaches in a little after a 1/4 mile and 2, because the civic is a full blown race car. I think it would be more effective to have a "tree vehicle" where once they flash in for ready tree vehicle can tap brakes and competing vehicles go on the brake light or flash in, tree vehicle hits hazards and on third flash they go. In my mind that seems like you can get a little more consistency on the hits.
Y’all can talk all the trash you want but that is a great idea for roll racing. You have 3 lanes with both racers on the outside lane. You have the “tree vehicle” like he said in the middle but about 2 car lengths ahead so both outside cars can see. Both racers flash the “tree vehicle” and he turns his hazards on, and you go once the hazards have blinked 3 times. That’s a perfect idea for fair racing. This has nothing to do with forza. It’s essentially the same as when the bike tried to start the race but he was on the outside lane so I think the civic had a hard time seeing.

Perfect example of why those Teslas are so good... so easy to run at their max. This civic is clearly A LOT faster, but never won a race to 160 without a jump.
Let's keep in mind by the numbers and intangibles that Civic had a substantial advantage. Only 102 less horsepower but over 60% less weight and slicks.

That's cool and crazy! I had my SRT-4 up to 167 mph on the autobahn. Its scary going that fast on a public road.

I've owned a few hondas that were modded, I also now own a Tesla M3P... I love both. The first car I ever owned was an ef hatch. The fact that the civic is practically half the weight with practically the same power bodes well for Tesla.

Every since the plaid came out I've been wondering what was going to happen to the race industry as a whole. Someone else said it on here, and I will also say it that plaid vehicle was made as a direct marketing strategy to bring everyone to electric, especially gear heads. Why ? Well because a 10 sec car alone is not enough, vehicles nowadays need to be tuned for a quarter mile plus high way race. This civic is the prerfect example. New race cars will have to either be able to put more power to the ground or be light with balanced horsepower to take on the new generation of speed.

I 100% agree with you. They are pushing it hard. We've had 3 amazing tracks close down locally. Here on this channel we dig anything fast. The purchase of a tesla was strictly because it fit a personal need. Not because we are tree huggers. Right now that's the car that people love to hate and it gets attention at the tracks.....and views. We love our ICE cars and that's never gonna go away here and that's a promise. Our other cars are just being built and the Tesla is the only one that runs right...lol.

We race a soon to be not stock anymore challenger ScatPack. We talk about this all the time. At a racetrack in Kearney Nebraska this summer a tesla y showed up and nobody would race him finally i did and g8 did but my point is i can tell nobody wanted him there. Weekend drag racers are being assaulted on two fronts. Government thats forcing electric cars on public which is wrong it should be market driven and two a young tech generation growing up on video games and high tech gadgets nether has any respect for built ice cars. And worship elon musks Tesla’s.I myself set a 20 year old big mouth straight at gas station walking ip and telling me hoe his daddy’s model s he’s driving will smoke my ScatPack i told him shut up get in you car and learn some respect. In my opinion the only thing that makes Plaids interesting is when they run blown v 8s . Lets picture a all electric lineup at a track no ice cars it’s Saturday afternoon not one v8 gas engine racing, im picturing empty stands and track owners closing ,. I love racing its brought my son and me together on weekends and we want to pursue it more but it looks like you need to get a new v8 in next two years and thats it. New production is over. I tell this to Tesla owners you got 59 plaids show up at track then what!!! Checkout some of the other videos... we also have a 1982 Ford Fairmont that's got a 4.8 ls swap cam only and a little turbo , a 1985 suburban on bags thats getting 6.0 Lq4 Swapped and turbo. A fox body mustang that we can't tell anyone what's done because it's a grudge car and I just sold a few cars because I have to many and no place to put them,1966 Fleetwood, 93 jeep,2012 ctsv wagon 1017whp to name a few. This isn't a bragging post but it's a i build cars and race them and have been for decades. The Plaid was a I wanna see what this is about purchase and honesty it's a pretty fun car, not gonna lie. ...but,, There's nothing like jumping in something going for a cruise and having the radio off and just listening to the motor make the sweet sound of horsepower.

The race was 60-160mph. In that race were we took off at the same time he was 3/4 of a car back till 160mph and inching forward. If the race would of been to 180+mph he would pulled away no doubt.

EVs are insanely fast, it weighs an accord more than that civic and pulls like a freight train from 0-its speed limiter. Not to take away from how awesome the civic is but it's a much more straitforward approach to going fast, lots of power, minimal weight, minimal drivetrain loss.

Civic jumps every time but the last one which was the actual race. It should kill the tesla in the 1/2 mile for 2 reasons ..... 1 the tesla is currently limited to 163mph which it reaches in a little after a 1/4 mile and 2, because the civic is a full blown race car.
Your right that it's amazing that that kind of power can come from a 4 banger and I've been on that team for a long long time. What's also amazing is the tesla plaid is not even a year old yet and has the potential to really do some crazy stuff if companies can break into the software.

I think it would be more effective to have a "tree vehicle" where once they flash in for ready tree vehicle can tap brakes and competing vehicles go on the brake light or flash in, tree vehicle hits hazards and on third flash they go. In my mind that seems like you can get a little more consistency on the hits.

Y’all can talk all the trash you want but that is a great idea for roll racing. You have 3 lanes with both racers on the outside lane. You have the “tree vehicle” like he said in the middle but about 2 car lengths ahead so both outside cars can see. Both racers flash the “tree vehicle” and he turns his hazards on, and you go once the hazards have blinked 3 times. That’s a perfect idea for fair racing. This has nothing to do with forza. It’s essentially the same as when the bike tried to start the race but he was on the outside lane so I think the civic had a hard time seeing.
