- I sing the praises of the Pikmin series pretty often, but no game series is perfect. Join me in discovering one of the biggest snags in Pikmin 3's gameplay, boss caps, and how it applies to the different bosses you face in the game.
And happy April Fool's day!

This guy really modded hats onto Pikmin 3 bosses for a joke, and still made an informative video out of it. Amazing.

The hats on the bosses. I didn’t realize until the mireclops. All of the hats actually kinda fit the bosses… until the toy cowboy hat

The quaggled mireclops is my favorite boss in the game! It deserved at least an amber spiral!

These little "Boss Caps" was worth the long struggle it took to make them i gotta say
"Quick" little fun facts and tips:
-The Armored Mawdad will only be capped when it's trying to climb a wall, so if you're REALLY quick (and have a stradegy), it can still be one cycled (also, it survives with one health, so you can make some funny clips with a single punch or rock toss).
-The Vehemoth Phosbat is killable without the lights as you'd guess, but this is more apparent in normal mode, it has so little health you could kill it without the big bulb and it's optimal.
-The Sandbelching Meerslug can still be attacked normaly while inhaling. You can even knock it back to the surface, and it won't have time to kill any Pikmin if you have enough fire power (in ultra-spicey it's a bit hard with the Pikmin cap, but a full red or rock squad can do it).
-Scornet Mystro's cap is increased from halves to quarters in harder difficulties, so good luck with that.
-The Quagled Mireclops may not have a damage cap, but it's feet do during certain attacks and animations. Also, I may be wrong, but I believe when first knocked down, it won't get back up until the crystal's broken.
And I've got nothing for the Plasm Wraith, thanks for letting me waste your time.

The mawdad doesn't actually have a cap, rather the boss can only be defeated when he isn't on the wall. For a quick battle, there are ways to manipulate his movement pattern to ensure he stays on the ground when his health is at zero, but its very difficult.

I genuinely tried to think back on every Scruffy video I've seen, trying to remember the ratings system. I was got good, Magenta star-tesselation for humor
Thinking about other bosses in the series, I'd also like to propose that the Titan Dweevil falls under the Grey Chevron Tier- You are unable to damage it until you strip it of all its weapons, but the weapons themselves are never hindered from being attacked.
So, I think a Grey- maaaybe Light-Grey Chevron Tier is fitting for the Titan Dweevil
yeah, it's hard to look past the nostalgia i have for Pikmin 2 and the appeal of the sheer gravitas of the fight itself, but thinking about the pure gameplay perspective, Light-Grey Chevron feels totally fair. sorry Louie.

wow lawsuits is actually one of the best solutions ive heard to this issue! they really need a lengthy fleshed out court system in pikmin 4! (also i love the silly hats mod that you have, its amazing)

Everything in this video was wonderful. The modded hats, the proposed solution of the armored mawdad pursuing legal action against the player, and that absolutely beautiful rendition of “what I love” at the end. It’s a masterpiece.

This is a high quality April 1st video.
You bring up the Scornet Maestro capping itself at half its HP. BUT if you don't know or don't remember, in the original Pikmin 3 on the Wii U, it capped itself during each quarter of health! They only changed it to half health in Deluxe.
This is one of the best types of April Fools video. It sticks to it's title and thumbnail, it doesn't deceive the viewers, but it also makes very silly nonsensical remarks throughout the video between the actual content.
Personally, I feel like the Vehemoth Phosbat deserves more of an... Aquamarine Heptagram tier. The overall atmosphere of its fight keeps you engaged enough so you don't notice the health cap!

I saw the pentagon coming, but I was surprised to see the blue quatrefoil. Figured it deserved a teal trefoil at least, but I can see where the frustration comes from in the heat of the moment
seeing the Fish Fear Me hat on Armored Mawdad was a psychic sucker punch oh my god
I like how you specifically used the Scornet Maestro for the thumbnail. That boss is super annoying when you're trying to do a 7-day run.

This may just be your best video. Its an ACTUAL video discussing an ACTUAL mechanic, but with a flair of whimsy and extremely subtle humor that doesn't even get acknowledge outside of the "its april 1st" at the start and the "what" at the very end.
I had never played Pikmin 3 so legit thought those "caps" were actually on the bosses considering you are on earth and a huge amount of human items can be found, i thought they were using it as armour lmao.
