"I don't think my brain was given a fair chance" Has to be the best excuse ever made.
Giving Harriet the points for a round she wasn’t even in but not to Richard for an ingenious solution to an impossible problem is a criminal injustice
Harriet got pity points...Richard doesn't need them...even Joe Wilkinson got pity points for one episode and ended up winning the show...and nobody begrudged the choice...not even Jon Richardson
The greater injustice with Richard's one was them cutting out the but that came after.
When Claudia goes to bat for him? Yup!
Richard's answer was against the rules of the game, Harriet actually got the answer
@@rajnadar6555 could you name the episode?
I love how Rachel always plays along with the joke solutions
They are there to take the piss out of countdown, if Rachel and Suzy didn’t acknowledge that everyone there are just a bunch of morons the show would be boring XD

People love commenting lines from the video for Worthless Virtual Likes don't they? Lol
Weirdos
"It's that calm that you feel when you see a meteor heading toward you..." Perfectly described 😂
Took me a little bit longer than 30 seconds, but I figured it out: 10-6 is 4; 4x50 is 200; 200-7 is 193; 193 x 5 is 965 :O
@@Astukart cause we all know our 193 times table
@@Astukart im jk it is actually pretty easy to work out cause you'd just do 200 x 5 - 7 x 5. getting to 193 was the hard bit
@@JBG-AjaxzeMedia - No, no. Astukart just REALLY knows his 5s times tables, all the way up to 200. 😛
I think the genius of Richard's "Take the 10 and square it...actually cube it" is it allowed him to skip right past Rachel's protest about exponents not being allowed in Countdown.
2:23 I love Sean's little dance in the darkness
He was really enjoying it
my favourite part of that first clip is that there are two twos up there, and they still fight over the same one😂
7:44 "Actually can you cube it, sorry" 🤣
Love that Jon tried to steal Paul’s two
I love that she actually wrote it into the equation 🤣
Rachel is something else though. Ffing hell. While we're struggling to find a way or pause the video to try and get it, she sometimes has 2 or 3 ways to do it.
Honestly, that’s not the direction I thought this comment was heading but I’m happy it did
That 965 answer was something else. Really thinking outside of the box. ´The box´ being my comprehension.
I do like it when it's almost impossible, they pass it over to Rachel and she goes "I only found two ways to do it".
I'm hungover and my brain is jelly, it took me 10 minutes to work out 662
I can barely follow when they're giving the solution and Rachel's writing it down.
Claudia is me during any maths situation 😂
"And by the time I finished writing the numbers down, that familiar 'duh-duh duh-duh dud-dla doo!!!'" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Cutting away b4 Paul Foot said 'and I don't have a wife' is criminal
And it's not the first time, either. I don't think I ever saw it in any compilation, only in the full episode.
Of course he hasn’t a wife or girlfriend :P Paul is openly gay
@@Harbatku it’s a shame really it’s a good joke. A silly little moment

@@Killzone-cr2od He clearly wanted to subtract the 1 not add it lol. Hence the "is dyspraxia catching" joke.
I would be willing to bet that the key to Rachels’ heart is laughter. She is so beautiful when she laughs!
That beat drop and kazoo have no business being that good
'its like a full charisma bypass innit' LOL
'The calm of a meteor heading towards you' is such a perfect analogy, I got that feeling during an exam once, I had uncontrollable laughter halfway through because I knew I was fucked

Sounds like something Karl Pilkington would say.
0:54 amazing point by john 😂
We need a petition to get Harriet on Taskmaster. Chaos would ensue.
"A full charisma bypass", classic!

Stop trying to gain likes by posting inane bollocks.
9:35 I love it when I figure out the answer and it ends up being different from Rachel's. 100+10+5 = 115 * 5 = 575 + 4 = 579
I've got another way for that one as well!
50 x 10 + 100 = 600
take 5 x 5 from that = 575
add 4 = 579
I swear all music in this countdown and big fat quiz deserves its own record
That would be fantastic!!
Imagine Jimmy says, "Could it be done Rachel??"
Rachel, "Yeah Jimmy, it could be done."
Jimmy to Rachel, "Are you going to do it then??"
Rachel,"No!!".
Rachel is beyond perfect
At the end: Harriet is always fun, but she *really* shines when she's with her 'dad'. 😉

Surprised Catherine Tate was not in the clip. Failing to reach target 101 with numbers 100, 5 & 4.
Yes! It was so cringe!

OMG, the GOAT of snippets .... a numbers only clip :D Love it. !
6:05 you clipped out the party where Rachel gets upset at herself for not recognizing that 576 is the perfect square of 24

Brett Domino Trio are absolute genius
After adding it all up the answer is Rachel looks great in anything.
Miss Sean so much RIP legend
Idk why ppl have generally a negative view of Claudia, she's just one of lifes kooks and she seems great
Just found out who programmed the Horizon post office system Joe Wilkinson!!!
I love henning's speech at the start of the video.
Live Jons flex with his wedding ring
Very funny. I can't see this show being on air in the USA. Love Suzie's expressions.
Bloody Rachel Riley is just sensational.
Harriet is a pure delight
There are multiple ways to get 576 from those numbers. 😄
7+3 = 10
10 × 5 × 2 = 100
100 - 4 = 96
96 × 6 = 576
2:04 i like this theme
Love these but the Catherine Tate one needs to be on the list, please.
To be fair, sexy arithmetic was in my head today
I love that rare moment when the panel doesn't get it and you as a viewer do, and it's different to Rachels.
9:42 - (50x10) + (100+4) - (5×5) = (500+104) - 25 = 579
I even used all the numbers!
That’s how I did it too
Take the 2 - and keep it for later.
In the 662 round between Jon and Paul, it was also possible to just multiply all the numbers except 10 and then subtract by the remaining 10:
7 x 6 x 4 x 2 x 2 = 672
672 - 10 = 662
And in the round where Joe tried to solve an impossible problem, the closest you could get is 561:
25 x 2 = 50
50 + 1 = 51
4 x 3 = 12
12 - 1 = 11
51 x 11 = 561
This is almost certainly how Rachel got one away.
Finally, since the 949 round went without a solution at least in this video (Sarah Millican and Alan Carr), and it's a bit difficult, here's one potential solution:
75 x 6 = 450
50 + 6 = 56
56 x 9 = 504
504 + 450 = 954
954 - 5 = 949
560 = 25x25-4x4x4-1
@@maxtrika1496 ???
Where are you getting that second 25 and those two extra 4's from? Even if you make one of the latter by 3 + 1, that still leaves one more unaccounted for.
You're not allowed to use numbers more than once on _Countdown_ . If you were then all you'd have to do is divide any number by itself for 1 and add up all the 1s until you reached the target.
25^2-4^3-1 i belive is the way way to wright it here
@@maxtrika1496 As I said, you're not allowed to use numbers more than once on _Countdown_ , which is what squaring and cubing does. You're only permitted the four basic arithmetical operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
@@Nullifidian th-cam.com/video/lq2HcCCZe4Q/w-d-xo.html she uses squaring there
Paul Foot: Worst hair I've seen in forever
I literally divided 576 by 3, then by 2, then by 4 until I finally realised it's 24 squared. If somehow you know that or figured it out the hard way like I did, it becomes an easy target:
5+7=12
*2=24
4*6=24
And there you have both 24s.
something seemd off with Cars' speech there 0:26
bigger line than usual Jimmy boy?!
paul and jon both had the 10 lol
Spectackle hahahahaha...............
Last one was so easy even i got it within 30 seconds 😂
You didn't include Catherine Tate. Failing to get 101 when both 100 and a 1 was up there?
( 100 + 10 + 5 ) * 5 +4 , i am so prou at 9:50
6:02 You take the 5, take the 7 and also the 6. 576.
My though process:
2+2 = 4, times 6 = 24, hm... 24 * 4 = 96, and if I multiply by 7, it's something between 650 and 700. How much is it actually? let's take a calculator... Holy... 96*7 = 672, minus 10 = 662, I am a genius!
lmao with claudia sitting there listening to johnny, reminded me of me in school with female classmates, i had quite a few of those supportive, platonic girls who i made laugh and who rooted for me. cute!
In Australia the word root is the equivalent of bonk.
That was golden 😂😂😂
Who were those awkward musical guys in gold in the dictionary corner? I swear I remember them from some early days TH-cam (For me at least).
Brett Domino Trio
Rachel always reminds me of Tricia McMillan ❤
DON’T PANIC.
He probably could have gotten a date with Rachel after that song! She was flattered!
Yeah it was obvious, she really liked that song. I think he had her at "sexy arithmetic".
I got bored and did the maths in base 12 and this are the results for the first few 7+ 2+4= 11
×(6 ×10)= 660
+2 = 662
25x 3 = 73 +1 = 74
4×2 +1 =9
74 ×9 = 560
3 × 100 = 300
9×4 = 30
75 − 30 = 45
300 + 45 = 345
2+7 = 9
9× 5 =39
39× 3 = દ3
દ3 × 6 = 576
10/3=4
4×100=400
25+2=27
27×7=161
400+161 = 561
Some of us are having difficulties with it in base 10 and here you are doing it dozenal just to rub salt in the wound. Sheesh!
So I actually saw another way to do the one at 9:02 I'm sure others have commented this as well but it was cool to see a way she didn't do it. For those wondering it's 50×10 is 500 the 5×5 is 25 then 100-25 for 75 then 500+75+4 for 579
This needed the Catherine Tate one on as well 🤣
for 162, you could do 4 + 6 to get 10, use that to do 10 x 6 to get 60, do 100 + 60 + 2 = 162
Ok
Nice! I saw it this way, took me 2 minutes not 30 seconds though to be fair
8 ÷ 4 = 2
2 x 100 = 200
6 x 6 = 36
200 - 36 = 164
164 - 2 = 162
I did 100x2=200, minus 8x6=48 so 152 is left. The you add the 6 and the 4 to get 162
Rachel riley is so fast with math she makes everyone else look like little kids practicing their maths
To be fair, it's her job and she gets lots of practice.
how she so smart i dont understand, i can never do these ones
It's so fricking frustrating that they show the comics NOT getting it, but not show how it's done.
50x10, which is 500. 500+100, 600. 5x5 is 25. Subtract 600 from 25, you get 575. Add the 4, boom.
Does someone hit the "random compilation generator" to upload these? Every time, it's the same few clips in a different order, just like the numbers board.
576 is actually a lovely target for a six small as it has so many factors, I’m surprised Rachel didn’t work it out using 24 squared which was possible.
sorry could you cube the 24
Squared is not allowed in countdown, only addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
@@iwillcontactattorneygenera1078oh yeah that’s right, but you can make two 24s to times them together, 6x4 and then (7+5)x2
@@reececollison5101 She's only supposed to write down one way to do it, not every way. Also your way is the exact same but in a different order: (7+5)*6*2*4 vs (7+5)*2*6*4, so even if she was supposed to write multiple ways of doing it she wouldn't write yours because it is already the same. Also 72*8 is easier to do in your head than 24*24, so your order makes less sense.
It was easy using all the numbers, 4+5+7 = 16. 16x2 = 32. 32x3 = 96. 96x6 = 576
Harriet
"Smashed it out of the park"
Rachel: 6:20 great hair! 8:02 great dress!
I couldnt get one of those in time and I know derivative calculus. Don't feel bad if you can't get it
The 965 one wasn't explained in the video and, as it was the only one of the harder ones I could get that wasn't shown, I hope I don't look like I'm trying to be a smartarse by putting this here:
10 - 6 = 4
50 x 4 = 200
200 - 7 = 193
193 x 5 = 965
Damn, it seems so obvious now. I could get 1 away. This is what I was searching the comment section for.
For all we can verify, you could have used a program to determine a possible solution, that might have been my next step. Be happy and don’t trust or care for strangers’ online opinions, whether they think highly or low of you. I wouldn’t worry about looking like a smartarse, it’s better than looking like a dumbass.
Thank you for posting. 🖖
thank you, I tried to do this in my head for over 5 minutes then gave up and came searching for it!
1:17 What the bloody hell is he saying here?
Roughly, I know it roughly
Why isn't that Catherine and Miles round in this vid?
All Alan had to do was 50*(4+2-1) and minus the 8. Instead of 4+2+1. Or leave out the 2
ooooo the maths..............stick it to me.
damn suzy dent is soooooo beautiful
I worked it out. It took me 5 minutes
6!=720
2+4=6×10=60
720-60+2=662
7 not needed
Theirs was much more simple
That's a good one! But factorials aren't allowed on Countdown.
I couldn't do it. I have a numbers allergy I swear was caused by a crap maths teacher when I was very young. I need time and a bit of paper. I am so rubbish at maths.
Could be dyscalculia. Kinda like dyslexia but with numbers.
Same! I hated maths as a kid. It all was just a jumbled nonsense to me. I excelled at social and language studies though.
The "unsolvable" 560 at 4:35 is solved like this:
25*(2||1)+3||(1+4)=560
Also to clarify how she solved it at 8:17: (9||50)-6/6=949
What does || mean?

how did Catherine Tate not make this compilation?
I overcomplicated the 662 one so badly and was so amazed I got it then they just made it so much easier
(I did 4x2x2=16x6=96x7=672-10=662)
"You times it ...", "You minus it ..." Not only a lack of maths skills but also of English grammar.
It's perfectly acceptable (i.e. common practise and understandable) spoken English to say "to times" such as, "take the two and times it by four" and other similar phrases, especially when verbally describing a simple calculation step by step. Get the piss out of your head mate, it's a comedy show...
@@iwillcontactattorneygenera1078 "It's perfectly acceptable ..." No, it isn't, If it was, I wouldn't have mentioned it.
I figured out the hard one with the two 1's the 2 and 3 and 4 and 25. You do 25-1=24 then use the 2 and square it for 576 then add the 1 and 3 for 4 then it's 4×4=16 -> 576-16=560
Can’t square in this game
