I agree with the quality issues. Speedometer sensor gone in few months after delivery. A new problem every few months - fuel leaking from tank cap, rear break not working. Luckily I didn’t face the wobble issue. But recently crashed as the front wheel locked up due to abs fail. Escaped with little injury as I was wearing proper riding gear. The headlight stops working sometimes. Despite well pampering in Indian dirt conditions with regular cleaning, liqui moly engine, dna air filter cleaning, brake caliper cleaning this keeps frustrating with every other issue. This is complete unreliable machine. Others can have different opinion based on their viewpoint. But I will never buy a RE again. This turned out to be waste of money from a value buy. I would just keep this for memories instead of selling it.
Bro unfortunately i think u got scammed by the dealer u bought the gt from ..the issues u said i have never faced it it's been 4 years good reliability yes headlight is not so good .fun to ride never got any problem from her and also fantastic paint job mine one got
@@mahaveersingh5664 i bought it from royal enfield company store. It’s been 5 years. every one year i get a new problem due to quality issues and hearing the same stories from friends and across royal enfield service centres. Good to hear that you don’t have any problems with it. And definitely it’s fun to ride yet the quality of few parts is horrible.
That happens when someone with the attitude of a spoiled car driver buys a cheap retro bike and complains about it as if there was a quality standard of a 10.000 Euro bike to be expected. Complaining about cheap tires on a cheap bike, about a loud exhaust and poor braking which he could have known when doing a test ride, about a cable touching the tank which he could fix easily by himself, and about some paint problems which could have been caused by his inappropriate way of cleaning the bike as he shows in the video, all that is not reason enough to advise against buying this type of motorcycle. In contrast to this one judgement which I find absolutely not qualified there are thousands of enthusiastic fans of the bike out there who are very happy with it.
Forgot to mention in my own comment the cleaning process shown... Good point. RE is pretty honest about what their bikes are. They are great for those who want them and if that ain't for you, then so be it. Is what it is. Everyone's got their opinions and that's a good thing.
@@wolfgetmedia3064 I had to cringe watching you clean your bike that way. That'll strip grease from the wheel bearings and some cleaning solutions will also corrode all that bare alloy. Sorry for your bad luck with it. I got my '21 GT at the beginning of 2021 and its been a peach. Hope you get some solutions.
@@sydecarnutz972 I was very caring around though bits. Only reason I use this as it was out in the rain and had some hardened dirt. But as I said will be addressing it on the next video . Totally agree with you said 😊🤙
Agreed I never use a pressure washer or even a hose on full power . Pro tech foam is great and removes 90% of dirt without touching the bike . I rinse then use an air dryer so zero water marks and no water in hidden places. This is on the red and chrome 350 which is the most cleaning intensive model they make
You shouldn't be using the Karcher dirt blaster lance on your bike or car paint. It has a "cutting" effect which is design for hard floors/walls without paint... that’s why your paint came out. Use the VARIO lance on your precious rides
I downgraded from a KTM 1090, 125hp beast, to a 650 Interceptor and love it. It is what it is, a good solid bike. No frills, no bells and whistles, everyfhing you need and nothing you don't. Built to a budget, no doubt, but for smiles per hour, unbeatable in my opinion.
@@JohnWilliams-sq7cj yep, certainly was a big chamge. I began to realise that I didn't need/couldn't use 125hp and shopped around for something different. Always liked the retro look, already have a 1954 Matchless 500 single which is fun, so the modern retro was the next choice.
I own a 650cc Interceptor. I took it offroad on the border of my country and fell over more than 10 times, but my bike, with just 26,000km on the clock, ran like a mad dog. I've satisfied with the price and its quality.
I had the Kawasaki W800 for 6 years before buying the Interceptor.Cant say there is a huge difference in quality of parts but the Interceptor rides better with no vibes the W800 had also looks better than the W800 in my opinion.
@@jimmymac9388 I keep hearing comments about 'Vibes' . They Did intentionally build in some Vibes for the huge Japanese Domestic-Market that WANTED the old 360% twin-experience . I grew-up riding old British-stuff and haven't felt anything I'd call bad-'vibes' from my W650 . No tingling-hands, feet etc ., I do push it though, hardly ever sit at one speed, only ride the twisty-stuff (that's why I ride !) . Maybe some of the vibes are wheels ? like this guys RE ...Or I just got a really good one ? Or the rubber isolastics have to be 'right' (think Norton Commando) . I love mine (2003) , bit gutless but you don't notice that on tight-winding-roads caning it . Maybe Old-guys like myself have different-expectations . Dave NZ
I did a long demo ride on GT650 with 30,000 miles. Nothing like what this guy is whining about. Honestly, he's figured out negative videos get more views.
mate, half of your complains are BS. Lack of power? testride before buy, 47 hp at 215 kg is more than ok for a 650 retro bike.. Horrible indicator lights? they are golden standard, I am not telling they are awesome, but they ok. What your experienced was not a wheel truing problem, just a wrong balanced tyre, or you lost a weight. A broken cable can happen in every price range, its not just an RE problem. The bike is absolutely rideable out of the box, no NEED for changes, but if you want its a blank canvas. And to crash a bike on this lane, mate you don't need a stronger bike ;-)
Thank you for your comment. I have photos and videos to prove the wheel was out of true. Next time I turn a corner ill remember to turn the bike as well :P
@@wolfgetmedia3064any wire wheel will go out of true with a pothole. They are not hard to true. this video sounds like you've never owned a motorcycle before.
I know people who have spent a fortune on more premium priced bikes and they change the exhaust, indicators, de-cat the pipes and often swap the stock tyres so the changes you suggest apply no matter how much you spend. As a basic bike these work well and offer a great platform to customise from a low initial outlay. It's a shame you've had the quality issues around the wheels. My GT is nearly two years old and not had any of the problems you've encountered.
My brakes work great. I like the look of spokes. 32,000+ miles. No significant problems. 47 HP gets me 100 mph. Isn't that enough? Signal lights aren't a big deal. Everything works fine for me.
I don't know anyone yet with all the issues that you mentioned. Let's hope you were the only one very unlucky. 11000km and I love the Interceptor 650. All the weaknesses have been addressed with quite affordable fixes and parts. Since I bought it second hand I could afford upgrading a few things to make it to my taste. I have no regrets.
I own a continental 650, had it almost a year and I just did the 10,000km service on it. Seems like your being a bit hard on the bike but it also seems you have had some bad luck with yours, that cable I can tell just by l looking at it, its been routed wrong and that cable is stressed, it should not have come from the factory that way and the dealer should have caught that, cables need smooth curves when routed through the bike for them to last, sharp turns on a cable will break them in no time. The paint issue on the back wheel would piss me right off if that happened with in 6 years so I feel for you. That been said I disagree with you about the Tires, Breaks and suspension. just to qualify myself I have been riding for 50 years, I owned the very first year Ninja 900 and the very first year GSXR 1100, plus Yamaha RZ500's, Yamaha RD's, Honda VTR's and RC51 and a number of others in between. I do hear a lot of people ripping on the Suspension on the Royal 650's. I'm no Eddy Lawson or Rossi or anything but to me the suspension is fine, it is what it is supposed to be, same with the brakes I have no problem with them and the wife and I ride the bike with both of us on it and I ride it as fast as that little bike will go, It always stops when I need it too. I have CEAT tires on my bike, CEAT is not a known brand in Canada, I never knew very much about them when I got the bike and I was going to change them right away, however I have 10,000kms on them and they are not bad at least not to me but I never ride in the rain. Ya know the bike is exactly what its supposed to be a Retro bike, not a modern classic. I think you probably should have bought a modern classic like the Kawasaki K650rs. You talked about power or lack there of I think, the Royal Enfield was not designed to be fast, it was designed to be exactly what it is, a Retro bike, a bike that is as close to the real 1960s motorcycle that it can be and it is just that, not a modern bike trying to look like a classic bike, such as the Kawi z650 or 900rs, or the Suzi Katana or them fugly Yamaha's they are calling modern classics. I know with some of the Royal 650's there has been some questionable quality issues, too much grease in the relays, wheel Truing, blablabla and I fortunately have not experienced any of those problem, one of the lucky ones I guess. My friend I hope this works out for you and you get that cable replaced. The 650s are not a modern bike and they are not perfect and they were not meant to be, they are exactly what they were designed to be, a retro motorcycle. Get the bike sorted, Sell it and get your self a Kawi z650rs, you will love that little hot rod. I do apologies if this seems harsh, I'm just saying it as I see, just as you are and I respect what you say and Thank you for taking the time and making the vid. Cheers.
You must be a few of the lucky people that haven’t had any of the wheels issue. I have had all the issues that you could imagine and RE haven’t been able to help me at all. So tyres I only changed recently as they started tracking quite bad while changing lanes. Paint issue - nothing done about it Speedo cable issue Wheel truing issue for me was the most worst! So I gone a multiple times to the dealer and RE… literally nothing done about 😢 I have had nothing but problems with this bike. I don’t ride it much in the rain, if I did I would wash it afterwards and keep it clean as possible. I understand that it is a classic bike but at least better quality control over the major components like the wheels 🛞 🥹 I would like to keep this one and see what I can get a better bike in few years time. Let’s see 😅😅
@@wolfgetmedia3064 your dealer is shit. My dealer Revelry Motorcycles in Sydney have been awesome. No issues with my GT or Himi running on CEATs. They sold you a dud. Glad you're cluey enough to rectify some of your issues. Your tail tidy & bar end indicators look the business. Well done mate
@@karlsquire8148 thank you pal! I got most of it fixed now and I will def need address this comment in the next video! :) hopefully I can do it justice
I´m 20k km and 3 years into my interceptor without any of these problems. Just standard service parts, tyres and a rear brake pad. Worth remembering that RE outsell Triumph and Harley combined globally so you´ll get the odd lemon amongst many thousands of bikes sold. Real shame you´ve had to go though this but I don´t think this is indicative of most peoples experience.
Thank you for you comment! the video is based on my experience with the bike and the dealers to be honest. I will be following up with another video next week. Make sure to tune in bcos its going to be epic!
I haven't owned one but I did test ride one. I couldn't fault it .brakes were fine as its not a race bike but well up for what it is. To be honest I loved it.
Hi there thank you so much for commenting on this video. You know what would be amazing if you had a look at my new video here th-cam.com/video/Ey2qmQZ9wuk/w-d-xo.html it might bring you more reasons to comment on my weight.
What a shame, when someone bought a bike this good at its price range and love by many, then expect a premium quality and performance of high end bike is just funny. You've better do a lot of research before buying your next bike to avoid such unnecessary complains in the future.✌️✌️✌️
Thank you for your comment. I appreciate it your feedback back. It is still my dream bike just a shame that the dealerships did nothing to help me in this matter. The bike was a Friday afternoon job I’m sure and mine had all the issues talked bout on many other videos on TH-cam. Just thought my particular bike was a prime example of all the bad points people talked about. Some people only have one or two of these problems…. Mine was a little more than one or two lol but I appreciate your feedback and concern about my experience in future.
My previous motorcycle was a brand new BMW RnineT, which had 10 warranty claims and umpteen faults after the warranty ran out. My Interceptor is far better built and far more reliable.
Looks like we have both been felt a bad bike in the past. thank you for your comment! really appreciate it. Have you made any changes to your interceptor? also what has your experience with it so far in compared to the BMW?
Thanks for your video and sorry to hear of the bad experiences you’ve had with it. I’m currently shopping for a new Triumph Speed Twin or Bonneville and had also considered the Royal Enfield on and off. From reading some of these comments, as well as watching a bunch of reviews, many seem to agree that it is a great bike for the price. And for the price many seem willing to overlook the compromises made to be able to sell at such a low price. To each his own. I personally appreciate build quality, materials and precise engineering enough to pay more for it. I wound up selling my Indian Scout Bobber (a great bike overall) within a year because some of the details bugged me enough. This review was enough to help me cross the RE off my list and refocus on the Triumphs.
Hi, Thank you for your comment and I really appreciate it. I personally think that the triumph's are built a lot better and with better materials than my RE for sure! You are right, not bad at all for the price and it does give you a lot for the price and smiles per ££ is worth it but if you want the built quality then definitely triumph will give you more satisfaction than this one. Some of the comments on here are absolutely nonsense but there are some that definitely made some valid suggestions and appreciate it. Personally I love the way this bike looks and it fullfills my want so I am compromising on the needs for it. I also had a gasket blowing out and the engine was leaking oil. I have had that fixed and it cost me a lot if I'm honest, consult trust myself to get it done right. I would recommend that you try out the bike and see how you feel about it and if you like the look of it and the way it rides enough to sway you away from triumph then go for it. but I think you will fall in love with triumph.
@@truantray wow you are a little keyboard warrior aren’t you. The build quality on shotgun and super meteor is a lot better than interceptor and conti mate. Thanks for your comment though really appreciate it.
I honestly can't understand your statement not to buy RE gt650, and one of your reasons is that you don't like the turning signals. There are people watching the video and thinking of buying this bike and if you say DONT BUY atleast give some desent reasons and not because you don't like turning signals. Or at least change the Title to Why i dont like RE'lds. Peace and ride safe
Countless idiots remove stock turn signals and replace them with cheap tiny LEDs no one can see. There are good reasons why turn signals are legally a minimum distance apart.
Bought my 650 Interceptor in Nashville, TN, July 3rd 2019. It has been awesome and I still love it. I guess if you bought it in Penllergaer then that is that.
its amazing that your bike is still going strong! either you got really lucky or you bought too much bourbon and you have been off your tits ever since! 😜 lol Look out for my next vid :P
I bought mine on July 8, 2019. The only problem has been a frayed throttle return cable. I've had fun doing a lot of performance and cosmetic mods reducing the weight by 30 pounds and increasing the HP by maybe 10. It's a great bike at a bargain price.
I was really focused on the Triumph Scrambler but ended with a new RE Interceptor 650. I only put 14 miles on it before the snow hit but no regrets right now.
They are not a bad bikes but agree, finish and used materials are not the best ones. That's why it's so much cheaper. But that's also why I would rather choose used Triumph or W800 over the Enfield
Dude.. It's a fantastic bike for the $$, tires aren't anything to write home about but I can lean out so far as to scrape the pegs without losing traction, the turn signals can be changed out for cheap. I thinks you are a bit too picky.
thank you for checking out my video! yes I am picky because I have been messed around too much by the dealers and this video is expressing some of the frustration I have had with this bike. but in the next video I will be addressing some of the comments and yours will be addressed :) look out!
@@wolfgetmedia3064 Go for it.. I love my 22 GT, one of the Best inexpensive retro around. You should be a bit less picky about RE.. You prolly need to buy a Japanese bike.
Wow! Sucks the experience you have had with your Continental GT 650... and I just watched the last few seconds of your video 😟 I sure hope you are okay. That looked like a nasty fall. I love mine and it is not going anywhere. I would buy it again in a heartbeat... Come on! For the price!?? I have been able to just get whatever accessories I want for it without much hurt to the wallet. I had a Triumph Thruxton R... that was a US$16K bike without the accessories I got for it!!! But I have not had the quality issues you shared in your video... I just got back from riding through the mountains and it was a pleasure to ride. This was a 2,000 miles trip and I just loved every mile of it. No vibrations, no issues with cables, nothing... I do agree on a few things you went over: 1. Stock tires... yeah, I changed mine right after the break-in miles. I went with Bridgestone Battlax BT46 Sport Touring Tires (wanted Michelin Road Classics but got tired of waiting for those to be back in stock). Great tires and completely changed the road feel with the bike. 2. Brakes... changing front pads with: EBC Front Brake Pads FA209/2HH and rear pads with: EBC Rear Brake Pads FA213HH - this solved the brake concerns 3. Exhaust note, I went with inexpensive EMGO Cafe mufflers... they are loud. Actually sounds very similar to yours. But running down the road they just sound so beautiful. And much, much lighter than the factory cans. 4. Headlight - replaced mine with the LED headlight from a RE Super Meteor 650 Again, I do hope you came out okay from that fall and that you can get your bike sorted out.
th-cam.com/video/SKoNMKmh2Ts/w-d-xo.html so this is my mods that I have done. yeah I am ok, survived the fall and it was just my fault I had a lot on my mind and shouldn't have gone out own the ride if I'm honest. I have upgraded the brakes similar to yours from Hitchcocks motorcycles. solved that issue. I think on the next video I will have to explain a little bit about how this bike is good also and really justify why I have said what I have said. like the paint work though... think its really shocking though for my bike. just had the short straw if I am honest.
I have a 2022 Interceptor 650; it is the 46th motorcycle I have owned in 53 years of riding. I bought it in winter; before the first ride I removed the charcoal canister & air injection, cleaned all relay connections & switched to Hitchcocks relays, changed the exhaust & air filter, and added a power commander. There are a million comments about the front suspension on social media; I find that the front end is firm and confidence inspiring for fast riding, however it is a bit too firm for bumpy roads. If every road was smooth with sharp bends, this bike out of the box would suit me. I owned two Yamaha XSR900's previously; the front end confidence the RE650 gives me out-of-the-box is similar. I have owned Ducatis (with Öhlins), Buells (best front brakes ever), & Triumphs which did not give me this front end confidence. To be fair, I am not a racer, but could run mid pack in the fast group at a track day with the right motorcycle. The brakes suck, the wheels are to heavy; but I have had no paint or quality control issues thus far; time will tell. Motorcycle preference is a personal thing; there are too many variables in all of our lives to each judge the other rider without understanding their situation. Motorcycles are items on a menu: if we eat the same food every day, or at the same restaurant, we are not qualified to pass judgement on an item we have not tried. Motorcycles are like footwear: there are shoes for dancing, for hiking, for climbing, for biking, and for fighting; they come in varying degrees of quality, and in the wrong application, each will get a bad review. With footwear, we cannot have just one and be satisfied; the same goes for motorcycles. Life is short; try something different off the menu, and when possible, try a different restaurant 👍
Sorry about your luck man. I own a 23' GT, daily rider which has a little over 5k Miles and beat the life out of it with no issues. I keep her in the garage at night, but I leave her outside while I'm at work and have no issues anywhere on the bike and I live in sunny Florida. This review was horrible and a misrepresentation on what this bike is lol
Well it is my luck. It’s more of the dealers that I got the bike from than the actual bike. But honestly I managed to get the Friday afternoon job bike. Everywhere I see is issues. But I am sorting it wherever i see. Thank you for your comment. Sorry you felt this review was horrible but it’s the truth of what my experience is with this bike.
We are a group here of more than 60 people in Rayong and Pattaya that only rides RE, most are on Intercontinental and the GT, but also a considerable chunk on RE 350, Meteor 350 and older Bullet 500 and Trial 500. None of them had the issues you had. It is a budget bike, and some parts are not super quality, but it's nothing to do with the mechanical issues you are having. Looks, that is another matter, that is a matter of taste, I don't like the looks of it much, but that is just me. All aftersales services, as far as I understand have to pass through India, so you go to the dealer and claim a fault, it does to India to get approved and then the parts are shipped out to the dealer, as most do not stock much than oli filters etc. So, I hope that you will give it another shot, and if you want to be more cruising and be on a newly developed bike, get their Meteor 650. Hope you are ok after the drop of the bike :)
Thank you so much for your comment. I am also a part of RE owners club similar to you. And the experiences I have had with this particular dealer was shared by many within the club. Hence why I thought I would share on the video. But thank you again and look out for the next video.
I’m having the same issues with bike feeling like bouncing up and down.from 50km/h up.Only 1500km on the clock, bike is 1.5 yrs old. Had front wheel balanced, no change. Changed both tyres to Michelin road classics and balanced, no change. Overall love the bike but there are valid points by the author.
Probably best not pressure washing the bike. It can cause all sorts of problems with paint and seals.Get one of those pump sprayers that gardeners use and a lot of cloths.
Thank you so much for commenting and i appreciate it. I will definitely get one! Watch out for my next video! I’ll be addressing a lot of comments on this video! Hit subscribe ❤️
I'm sorry to hear of your experiences with your Conti. I bought my Glitter & Dust Inty 650 during the Spring of Covid, in May of 2020. After seeing the black paint chipping off your wheel hubs, I like my silver wheels and hubs even more. They look like new, with none of the finish peeling away, (and I live in New England). To get that level of corrosion, I'm wondering if you live near the ocean and ride on the beach? Other then the RE brake recall...(mine were fine), I've had no issues until last spring. With about 2,500 mi on the clock, I brought it to my dealer to replace the recalled calipers, I mentioned to the tech, when I spun the rear wheel on the center stand, it seemed like the wheel was out of true. The tech looked at it and said the wheel was actually out of round. The dealer called RE and RE agreed to replace the rim. Two weeks later, the parts were in. RE went way above what I expected. They replaced the complete wheel, (rim, spokes hub, tire, and another brake set up), with a completely new built up wheel. Done in one hour. I love my bike and yes, some of the bits are on the cheap side, but for $6,200 out the door, I'm replacing things as I go along. That's part of the enjoyment for me. Wherever I ride, people on the street stop and ask me about my bike. Typically, they want to tell me what a fantastic restoration job I did. Heck, I've had several middle aged woman, come up and ask me about it. How often are people moved to ask a rider about some loud plastic covered sport bike or your everyday Harley? I'm so impressed with Royal Enfield, I'm looking at getting a Himalayan for dirt road riding.
I wish that’s what RE dealers did for me. Instead they dragged it out for more than 6 months of owning the bike. 😢😢 I was literally crying out for help with these guys here (dealers and RE customer support) I had no help what do ever with it. 🥺🥺 I definitely get a lot of compliments with this bike and I think my next video is going to be about all the good things about the bike. I am getting a lot of friction with the viewers with this video but these were my genuine concerns with this bike. I have just fixed a few problems like the speedo cable and new indicators from the crash and apart from that the bike seems fine. Just did a test run too. I love no where near the sea. But I did ride it through the winter and possibly salt on the roads did this, but I didn’t expect this from less than one year old bike. I made sure to clean off the bike after the salty or rainy ride …. 😥😥
@@wolfgetmedia3064 I have read about a lot of issues and crappy service from MOTO GB in the UK. I'm not sure if you are aware, Royal Enfield is taking over product import and distribution from them in the UK this Spring. I’m hoping they can help UK customers like you to get the kind of awesome service a 3 year warrantee would suggest.
@@wolfgetmedia3064 Riding on salty roads like I also mentioned in my comment above is causing always that trouble. I ride also in winter but never with my loved bikes :-) I always prepare an old iron which I use. In all my years I did ride in winter there was no real protection against it until a friend told me about a special liquid called Brunox. Swiss product and also used for sealing freight containers on transport ships. And so far it´s the best what i found ever for protection. Not perfect but close to that. When riding with my Harley in GB I also had trouble with the alloy as even the seabreeze was enough to cover the alloy with salt and it stared to corrode. You can easy see it´s salt on your bike from the look at.
It is not a heavy bike! My wife who is 1/3 your size has no issues at all. Lol. The brakes are great. Fantastic stopping power even for emergency stopping at over 150km/h. You clearly have a knock off.
Yeah, and there is no speedometer cable on this bike, it has an electronic speedometer. The paint flaking is from pressure washing, which is like sandblasting. I have ridden this bike, the suspension is much better than a Thruxton 900 and I met several owners who have none of these issues. These bikes at the lower price point tend to attract buyers with no clue about how motorcycles work.
I put a Himalayen speedo cable on mine. It is longer, but it works and plugs in correctly. I didn't do it on purpose, I was sent the wrong part. But, problem solved.
My cable was longer, but it did not survive 2k km- I had to repair it by soldering new wires. Agree that brakes are weak compare to modern bike but still usable. My wheels were so far ok. Hope they will stay that way. I have still original Pirelli tyres so no comment to CEAT ones but even Pirelli are not stellar. RE is no way on pair with Japanese bikes. That is a bad joke.
I have a question about your speedo "cable". I have a North American model2022. When I chnged the tires I notice that the speedo in mine has an electronic pickup. No traditional cable driven speedo. I have questions about your honesty about the issues.
Yes, the bike has an electronic speedometer with digital odometer. He's been pressure blasting the hubs. I think he has been whining enough to his dealer they are ignoring him and this video is some kind of spite. The comments section from actual owners does not match the conclusion of this video.
There's no other bike brand in the world that's delivering the quality of an Enfield at the price of an Enfield. Can it go 140 like my Triumph Speed Triple? No, but it can perform within the needs of most riders almost all of the time, with money left over for a scrambler.
Firstly thanks for sharing the video. Your bike is so beautiful and I love her exhaust sound. The all most all bike review videos that I’ve seen only said how great their bikes are but were not saying negatives in detail. Thanks for useful information. I hope Royal Enfield management finds this video and fix the issue you mentioned. Btw, is this stock silencer? Very nice sound.
what mufflers do you use? i really love the look of it. By the way, 8 months of ownership and is at 4k kilometers at the odometer. it’s the perfect bike for me along with my 1980 Honda CB750C
my 2018 was perfect out of the box and was perfect for the year I owned it. Sorry to hear about al this. Maybe volume has increased and QC has gone down to pump them out
When you come to sell this bike on, I hope you mention all these negative points and adjust your price accordingly. However, you’ve dropped the bike which should be enough for a Cat-N, contact your insurance company, you might get lucky……..🏍️
Thank you for your comment I really appreciate it. Why do you assume that I would be selling this bike? Also why would you assume that I haven’t contacted my insurance? Also why would you assume that the damage would be enough for cat s? Sorry buddy, people can hide behind texts very easily and speak their inner thoughts. Being a positive person I suggest you watch there next video where I talk about the how easy it was to work on. Sending you some positive vibes and peace
I come from a racing background on dirt and track bikes. The Continental GT is a raw platform for custom mods and refinement. In my opinion this motorcycle has everything necessary for a dialed in race platform street oriented hot rod, capable of admirable track times. Harris frame technology, correct rake and trail, handling, turn in, are all there. Very easy to fine tune suspension components, different spring rates for rear, correct valving for front end and fork oil weight, add up to a serious excellent handling motorcycle. Brakes are fine on stock bike. If you want more aggressive stopping power, consider braided brake lines, better pads and upgraded brake fluid. Tires are an easy upgrade you can do on any bike to improve braking and overall performance, and go hand in hand with the brakes. The Continental GT represents one of the last bastions of old school charm, and definable balance of price and technology. The Continental GT/R Race bikes run basically stock motors with minor tuning, and lighter stainless steel exhaust systems and higher flow air box mods. Don't think of your bike as a lemon, but as a peach, with sweet satisfying returns. 🏁🏁
I've had an Interceptor for 10 months and about 2,400 miles. I'm still happy with it. It checks quite a few boxes for me: it looks great, sounds great, great gas mileage (about 55-60mpg) handles well, lots of aftermarket stuff. It'll cruise all day at 75mph no problem. Power and torque are plenty for most purposes. The six-speed gearbox is nice. The brakes work fine, the ergonomics are fine. It has a likeable personality and it's gotten *a lot* of compliments. But it's not a bike I'd want to ride to Alaska on. Or probably even 200 miles. The reason being that the suspension and seat are both stiff and kind of cobby. Around town it's fine but it wouldn't be fun riding it all day long. That and the foot pegs demand you work around them some because they're in the way when you put your feet down. The right mirror vibrates (the left one is fine) and it's hard to impossible to read the digital gas gauge in bright sunlight. Those are my only complaints.
Hi. Plenty of us in UK obtained the Interceptor 650, from a local dealer. We have had absolute no issues you describe with any of them. No leaks. No brake issues and no problems with Ceat tyres. This model was built at a low price and allows upgrades to nearly absolute everything on them. Hear what you say about rear wheel finish and tyre balance. So our comment is get someone to balance the wheels correctly and you will be ok.. If it helps then do not power wash the bike as it will cause electrical issues. Otherwise they are built to a price. You get what you pay for. But they are a nice retro. If not happy go for the Kawasaki z650 or z900.
Thanks for your comment and checking out the video. I totally understand that you might be lucky to not have any of the issues I have had.. I have nothing but problems with my bike hence why I have made this video. In the video I said I had issues with the front wheel. Which wasn’t true. There was a number of emails and dealer visits and problem was not solved hence why I opted to sort it out myself. I trued the wheel myself. I have always been careful to power was the bike. I only use it to get the dirt off then use a low pressure for the paint and other works. I understand that water and electricity don’t mix very well.
Hi, thanks for your review. I have an interceptor 650 since almost two years 15k km. I agree that the ceat tyres are not really good but for the rest it's ok. I know what I was buying when I got it. If I would have wanted more fancy finishing i would have bought a Triumph bit i wanted a simple convenient bike to have some fun. I'm enjoying it. Just take it for what it is. Cheers.bye.
Ah it sucks when the bike doesn’t hit your expectations. I ride a 2021 GT and haven’t had any such issues so far. Also I feel you should have done a bit of more homework before buying this one, coz you mentioned that it’s underpowered and brakes aren’t upto the mark, it’s heavy etc. These are the things one can figure out from a spec sheet and an extensive test ride pretty easy. I would say you get what you pay for. Personally I have made a few changes and customized it for my preferences including tyres. And that’s the beauty of that price point you make it your own plus a better bike with those mods. p.s. please get a set of good gear, that looked like a bad fall at the end. Hope you’re doing alright. Cheers!
While I can sympathize with the points you make, most of it should’ve been evident in a walk-around and a test ride, so one wonders why you bought this motorcycle in the first place. I moved from a cast iron Bullet 350 to a GW250 to a GSX650 to a Ninja400 to an Interceptor650 and I’m quite happy with the latter.
Hi thank you for your comment. I got the bike brand new and got it delivered to the house. Being my dream bike I actually didn’t even pass my test when I had the bike. So about a month or so it was just sitting in the garage. Way hey, you live and you learn.
@@wolfgetmedia3064 To be fair, I guess anyone would be happier with a nice Japanese bike initially. They do all you want and nothing you don’t want. But as a previous owner of the old cast iron engine bullet I can tell you something, this is really equivalent of a Japanese bike in comparison to that one 😂. I guess that’s why I appreciate it so much.
@@jessesebastiansamuel don’t get me wrong, i appreciate the bike, and still use it every chance I get. It gets a lot of attention from the public everywhere I go which let’s face it, apart from speed thrills is the next best thing! Lol 😂 I am now a 100% sure that I was sold a faulty bike to start with bcos I had a major oil leak last month from the base gaskets, and the mechanic showed me a picture when he opened it all up, there was a missing gasket from where the oil was coming out… literally a Friday afternoon job. 🙈🙈 I can’t even go to RE about this and it is under warranty but my local dealers are not nice at all.
@@jessesebastiansamuel well I don’t know but recently they have made new progress in the uk 🇬🇧 but I just haven’t tested it. Old guys were motogb and we all know how bad they are. Literally lost hope for me. I’ll just treat it like a machine that I maintain and look after.
Bad that the bike didn't fulfill your expectations... I have had my Int650 for almost 02 years now and haven't had even a single issue as mentioned by you... Yes the bike did need some customization as per my personal requirement but apart from that there has been absolutely no issue... I think you are being really hard on the bike... the words being used by you come to me as a surprise as I feel the bike is actually awesome in the price range... there is something really not right the way your bike is being handled... thats why you are facing issues. I am not sure about what is going wrong on your part but surely the bike IS NOT SO LOW IN QUALITY... U really need to relook into your view of perception... I love my bike and am proud to have it... it loves me back too... maybe u shud give it a bit more love, not just hard words... Happy biking
Its a shame that your bike doesn't live up to your expectations, it seems to me that you didn't look so much before purchase, (power, breaking, suspension, it is not a performance oriented bike) unbeatable for what its cost. The hubs paint its something unheard of tho, did you use too much water pressure when wash them? I think you did a nice work on personalization tho. I own a GT 650 and after 35.000km the only issue was some water inside the clocks and they replaced it for free. No one I know have the same or any of the issues that you mentioned. I know up to 30 ppl from a RE Motorcycle group, everyone of them either with a GT or an Interceptor, haven't heard a thing that you mentioned. A couple of them had issues with a sensor and again, they replaced it for free... 3 year warranty unlimited mileage here. I do actually love the GT and maybe will get a second bike of a different kind as for ADV riding.
Also agree with RE build quality issues, my 2020 Himalayan was probably the worst screwed together bike I have ever owned, and that's from someone who has owned Jawa and CZ's. Rear suspension was devoid of grease, clocks misted up, rear caliper seized, gear indicator stopped working and it ground to a halt two days outside the warranty period with a duff fuel injector. Also was meant to have had a recall for the calipers but RE weren't interested when I asked the dealer despite the bike having a full dealer service history. All this on a bike that was less than two years old with less than 4000 mies on it, replaced it with a 20 year old R1150GS with over 60000 miles that hasn't missed a beat two years later. The real shame is that I REALLY liked that bike, it was absolutely lovely to ride and potter about on, but it was just so badly built I wasn't prepared to continuously throw money at it.
Who cleans their bike with a jet wash hose, no wonder the paint is flaking off!..And if your so disappointed in the bike, why did you buy it in the first place, isn’t it given to test ride it first.. This video feels satire 🤣
Interesting video, but I have to agree with most of the people in the comments section. Mine has been great, no strange shakes or vibrations over 50mph, my wheels feel good. I find the front suspension does feel a bit soft when braking hard, but the brakes are totally fine. Quite strong for the bike, I'd say. And no, it is not a heavy bike. I love it so much. So much, that I'd definitely consider buying another Royal Enfield in the future.
Hi thank you for your comment. Basically this video was about me and how bad the customer support has been. Most of the comments are from people who took offence to it and are trying to stand up for this bike. I have said in the video the bike is great otherwise, just the customer support has been 0 where I live.
@@wolfgetmedia3064 Understandable, but I didn't take offence to what you were saying. It is a good thing for people to have and share different opinions! I simply felt the need to say some things about it that might help people who are interested in buying this bike. Hopefully most people who own it don't need to deal with the customer service! haha I hope you're still enjoying it!
I love mine, and yes you seem to have purchased one assembled on a Friday I guess. I own a Triumph St 955 and this Cafe racer is a blast! I get great compliments wherever I am and I’ve put 400+ miles and will mod as I go, too bad for YOU!
Pretty much the dealer has given me the worst experience! Take a look at the mods I have done! I have a video on that to! I will make all the changes and use it you know.
I bought my RE GT650 in end of 2020, and now is already 2023, so far not a single problem at all, i just change my throttle cable because of wear and tear. And that’s it. Maybe you just have a bad luck situation brother..
Well depends on where you are in the world! I am not dissing this bike if you are in india you can definitely go for this as parts and things are easy to get and there’s proper RE dealers. Else where might be difficult. I would recommend getting a second hand bike that has already been upgraded with low miles on the clock
There are none at that price, look and fair quality mate. Others are Chinese and are either poorly built (worst) or simply ugly. The RE 650 is a splendid basic bike. Don't be shy to get one after watching this video. I bought mine second hand and suffered no issue in spite of scrambling it hard in Cambodia!
@@wolfgetmedia3064 my options are interceptor 650 ktm 390 Bajaj dominar 400 ninja 300 Yamaha r3 launching soon yezdi scrambler and bmw g310 . What do you think for secondary comuter and fun too . ?
Literally the same thing! But I got a little wheel trueing kit. I got the wheel off, got it as true as I can make it. And got it on the bike. No wobble now. If that continued, I would have sold it
I am riding a Interceptor 650 2019, done 22k km and I have no complaints for the manufacturer. You get a certain package for the amount you pay and the rest is upto you as to what you want it to be. Manufacturer can't build the n number of variations that a rider would want, what RE has done is provide a platform that is eBay to customize.
After a demo ride in 2019 I bought one a few months later. All I can say is that you may end up with a good or not. The consistency from the factor is a little off I think. Bit of a lucky dip. Mine felt misaligned. Steering was all over the shop. Same as my mates Interceptor. He was complaining of the same thing (we've both been riding for many years and on many bikes). I sold mine two months in, never felt confidence inspiring. Mate went to town on suspension upgrades front and back, didn't solve the handling issues, so my guess is look into the basics first before jumping to solutions (laser alignment, wheel truing). I must add that this year 2023 I was curious to try another demo at the dealership and again, a really, really nicely sorted bike. My suggestion is to any potential buyer is to buy an ex demonstrator (something you have tested before your purchase) or, buy a used one that you can test ride.
Sounds like you have a Friday afternoon machine I'm sorry to say. Had mine for just over 12 months, 9,000km, ridden through winter as a commuter. I was always going to remove the stock pipes, change the indicators and rear light anyway, but I would likely do this on any bike I bought. Never had any issue with wheel tracking, hits 120-140kph on the motorways and tracks perfectly, no wobble/judder. To be honest, I would still rather buy the cheaper bike and use the thousands saved to upgrade it, rather than buy a bike that costs 5k more and and then still spend more on changing the same parts as I'd change on the GT. Does seem like you've had s#itty luck with your machine. I would agree with the paint on the rims, but mine has a few areas around the spoke that look slightly "bubbled" but no paint has lifted like yours, that is bad. My speedo cable looks nothing like yours though, I have a pretty large amount of curved cable, probably 6-8 inches of loose cable. Will defo have to check the cables under the tank at the weekend though. Brakes are fine, I did upgrade the pads though at the first service. I'm not light at 210kg, and suspension and brakes are fine even when pushing on on back roads. I also found the Ceat tyres a bit iffy in the wet, but not horrific. The bike certainly gives more confidence on the Bridgestone BT46's that I've stuck in. Anyway, hopefully you get things sorted and to how you want it. Hopefully you don't have to much to repair and didn't get too beaten up!
Def give that clutch cable a check and if its wearing put a little rubber tag on it. also if you take the seat off, and move the tank slightly to the right from the handle bar side, it might solve the problem also. I upgraded the pads and I have to say it was a must! The seat tyres are like old school retro looking tyre. I think for the GT they should have been a little bit rounded tyre tbh. yeah I had a few things that's happened. The indicators broke, mirror was scratched. brake pedal bent back and brake hand leaver broke. But almost all of it is fixed including my sprained shoulder!
@@wolfgetmedia3064 Awesome, sorry, never got notified for your original reply. Typically, since saying mine was running with no issues, it started having issues! Always the way. Battery light several minutes to go out and coming on after 20-30 minutes of riding, so will have to hunt that issue down. Thinking it's possibly the rectifier... Anyway, I' off to watch the new video, glad you and the bike are repaired/healed! :)
Thanks for your honest opinion. I agree that it is very annoying to buy a new bike that comes with problems. Some come with unsafe tires that have horrible traction in the rain, or cause the bike to wobble at high speeds. Some bikes show signs of rust when new, in the dealership. On some bikes, you have to install better brake pads. Sometimes, the rubber brake lines swell under pressure, and have to be replaced with steel enforced lines. Sometimes, you have to buy a more comfortable seat. Some very expensive bikes have vibrating handlebars, that can't be cured, no matter what you do. Some very expensive bikes have terrible suspension systems. Some bikes are in the shop, more than on the road. Some bikes put out some serious, engine heat on your legs. Need to do some serious investigating before buying a bike. Some bikes are very good quality, but have terrible dealership support. Considering al these things, I would say you have a pretty good motorcycle. 😊
Another youtube "expert" who does not know what he talks about but has to make "do not buy" video.. Im so tired of this trend. How can you say that 9 of 10 wheels wont be true? Brakes are adequate for the power. Short speedo cable? Then just freaking pull the excess from the headlight. And remove the shiiping plugs from the fork caps while you are at it 🤦🏻The rant about indicators is completely out of line... The flaking paint on rear hub just shows how the bike was treated and seeing how you wash the bike I wonder how that could happen. The crash is just cherry on the top... I admit that with many of the things the dealer should have helped you and be your support. Its shame they did not care. No one can be knowledgeable about everything but if they are not about this topic, than they should not make video about it...
Yeah, he's clueless, practically in tears over a $21 part. He pulls a lot of "facts" from his ass. Any wire wheel can go out of true on a bump or pothole. It can also be retrued in minutes. I don't think he knows the rear shocks have suspension preload adjust.
If the bike does everything, what skills does one develop as a motorcyclist ? The beauty of a retro motorcycle is that there are minimal electronics and that makes it a simple. Its pure motorcycing unlike a KTM. Its your bike you have every right to complain and appreciate but theres another perspective to it. You cannot compare it to a modern motorcycle. The GT will last a lifetime but sadly the new age bikes won’t because the electronics of a modern motorcycle have a shelf life. But bro your video quality is just excellent ! Kudos !❤
Well, the bike sounded absolutely amazing. You must own the best microphone on all TH-cam. Sorry to see you took a spill. I'm still very interested in this bike or the new Shotgun 650. Good to know about some of the problem areas ahead of time.
Love mine 😂 Raced Bikes for over 12 years and still love it. You need to be aware of the usage of this thing 😂 Dont excpect things from a 8000€ bike that would rather be optional on a 15000€ triumph. Instead of complaining just buy one of these. Had absolutey no issues so far. Got 4000km on it. Still doing the job and the looks i was looking for.
In Switzerland, that model costs 2200 Euro more than in for example Germany. This puts it in the same spot as a Moto Guzzi V7 or a Kawasaki W800. This breaks the deal for me, even if I liked the bike. But the others apparently give more for the same money. But in Germany there's a notable price difference, so there it makes sense.

I’ve got the interceptor 2021 and it’s a brilliant bike. Haven’t had one single issue, honestly. Also, I bought it second hand.
Looking how you wash the bike, your dirty dry drive chain and your driving skills... yes you're right, don't buy that bike, and no other, for your own safety.
It takes two minutes to check if your wheel is straight by spinning it with a wire marker touching the rim. It's either true or it isn't. What was the issue with the tyres, did you actually loose grip and slide?
so it was M&P from Cardiff. I wouldn't recommend buying anything from them. Check the paint work and wheel truing. Check all the cables and stuff. another thing to check is that the bike turns off now and again, don't take this lightly. my bike still does it. apparently there was a ECU flash upgrade for this. The dealers I spoke to initially said yes there is a update, but the now the same guys are saying its not... so I can't even get that done. I would recommend having all these things checked out before you take it out of the show room.
@@wolfgetmedia3064 greatly appreciate the heads-up. I hope that I have a much better experience, I don't want to invest too much in a bike and I thought RE Continental GT is the perfect spot. The alternative is a Ducati Scrambler 800 cafe racer 2018 which is 1.5k more.
@@jangonzales924 well believe it or not it’s still a great bike just needs a few bits and bobs first to bring it to that level. So if you think about it, if you get the new one, that has the alloy wheel that wheel problem is sorted. Then all you need is air flow DNA air filter, (£80 esh) tail tidy, and accessories that you want on top. Plus about 3/400£ for the exhaust system. Great bike in that respect. Still comes off cheaper than Ducati. I am still thinking about the Ducati scrambler. But that might have to wait a little longer with my current situation.
Sorry you had a rough bike. Think you were really unlucky. Been riding for 50 years . Currently running a 350 classic . Although not a 650 still an Enfield . Build quality is excellent. Castings way better than my previous Kawasaki 900 or the Honda before that although Hondas are a better overall machine Had CEAT tyres several times in the past on trials, scrambles road bikes and cars. They are a branch of Pirelli and are Enfields are mid compound . Nothing wrong with them in dry or wet once scrubbed in. Had way more spoked wheels on bikes than mags never had any of the problems you discribed . MX bikes and off roaders in general use spokes for a reason they are way tougher than mags being in tension not compression Hope you have more success with your next bike.
St I own a 2020 Mayhem and the Bike has not had any problems at all. Of couture I changed the tires before I rode it off the lot thx rear went up in size to a 150 I never experienced any wobble., I agree with you on the rear lights I put a proper Bobtail cafe set up on. Easy fix can be done in about 2 hrs with hand tools . As far as paiint chipping I always hand wash and polish is still pristine

I disagree about everything you say except for the tires. CEAT tires are fairly good in dry road but avoid using it when raining or wet road. I still have my GT650 for almost a year now and do not have those issues you said. About the suspension, i can say it is good coz it is on par with my z650. I have own many bikes that come and go and i can tell you that the suspension of RE GT650 is on par with the japs bikes. I feel sorry for you that you experieced those things but i can say that my GT is a keeper and i wont sell it. My z650 is now for sale.
I am so happy that you have a good working bike! unfortunately with my one I have had nothing but problems and that's mainly because of the horrible start from the dealers. Almost no support. in terms of the suspension, I feel like its gone a little bit softer on the front. I do ride it quite hard and I absolutely love the bike if I didn't have any of these problems.

At age 51 and few bikes under my belt ( yamaha 535 , yamaha dragstar 650 , 2001 honda cb500s ❤, suzuki bandit 600s , bmw 650 gs , honda cb500f and now honda cbr500r , a few chinese bikes ) . Im all year round biker in all weather and last year i wanted to trade in my trusty workhorse Honda cb500f . So i had a day test ride on RE 650 and i wasn't impressed. From the foot pegs , suspension, lack of power , shitty tryes , poor dealership, uncomfortable seat , bike had a wobble over 65 mph , poor build quality and finish , apart from that it sounds nice . I was very lucky that in 2019 i rented out a RE 500 bullet on hoilday in Cornwall for a day ( he sadly doesn't operate anymore ) and felt more classic and retro than the 650 . I would say i do like the 650 frame but the welding is poor , it works but could be a lot better in parts ( im a tig welder by trade ) . Its a shame because i do like the RE 650 looks but the finish product is just above a Chinese bikes and made on the cheap . . Ok if you spend more money upgrading the suspension, brakes , seat , handle bars , etc ,etc you have a good bike but this is brand new bike and it doesn't make sense. Service intervals 5,000 miles where honda and most bikes are 7,000 to 8,000 . So i finally went to a Honda dealership and trade in my bike for Honda CBR500R 2019 with 340 miles on the clock . More power , reliability, a lot better finish, comfortable ( honda cbr500r is more of touring seating ) and more all year round bike. Also cheaper than the full price 650 . I might keep it this year year and next year i go for a Bonnie or Kawaski w800. Thank you for doing a honset video and brave because some people can get a bit upset and defensive about their RE 650 lol . Personally i would sell the bike i get a good second hand Jap bike .
I dont want to be rude por washing any bike with pressure could cause this, wether the painting is good, bad or cheap, you cant pressure wash as close as you do, bikes come with problems. I have a GT it did give me a few headachEs, I would suggest for you to check whats on them and whats on you. I am pretty sure the build quality could be better...
I agree with your comments and I will take it in to account! What's on me is a whole lot of fat. but its made in India so it should support a family of 6 :)

That happens when someone with the attitude of a spoiled car driver buys a cheap retro bike and complains about it as if there was a quality standard of a 10.000 Euro bike to be expected. Complaining about cheap tires on a cheap bike, about a loud exhaust and poor braking which he could have known when doing a test ride, about a cable touching the tank which he could fix easily by himself, and about some paint problems which could have been caused by his inappropriate way of cleaning the bike as he shows in the video, all that is not reason enough to advise against buying this type of motorcycle. mate, half of your complains are BS.

I agree 100% the brake is quite good, the power is enough and very well gived! I think the guy needs some skills
Paint issue - nothing done about it
Speedo cable issue
Wheel truing issue for me was the most worst! So I gone a multiple times to the dealer and RE… literally nothing done about 😢
I have had nothing but problems with this bike.
I don’t ride it much in the rain, if I did I would wash it afterwards and keep it clean as possible.

Have a look at the RE Super Meteor or Shotgun, now that's good build quality!

The cable is not glued in place! Lol have you been drinking man?
It's also $21. And, I don't think he knows about the rear shock preload adjustment. I'm 220lbs and the rears are not too soft.

I do agree on a few things you went over:
1. Stock tires... yeah, I changed mine right after the break-in miles. I went with Bridgestone Battlax BT46 Sport Touring Tires (wanted Michelin Road Classics but got tired of waiting for those to be back in stock). Great tires and completely changed the road feel with the bike.
2. Brakes... changing front pads with: EBC Front Brake Pads FA209/2HH and rear pads with: EBC Rear Brake Pads FA213HH - this solved the brake concerns
3. Exhaust note, I went with inexpensive EMGO Cafe mufflers... they are loud. Actually sounds very similar to yours. But running down the road they just sound so beautiful. And much, much lighter than the factory cans.
4. Headlight - replaced mine with the LED headlight from a RE Super Meteor 650
Again, I do hope you came out okay from that fall and that you can get your bike sorted out.
th-cam.com/video/SKoNMKmh2Ts/w-d-xo.html so this is my mods that I have done.
yeah I am ok, survived the fall and it was just my fault I had a lot on my mind and shouldn't have gone out own the ride if I'm honest.

Soap and water and a soft brush.
I definitely get a lot of compliments with this bike and I think my next video is going to be about all the good things about the bike.

Royal Enfield is 🔥. Best value for money bike in the world. And the exhaust is a therapy .

Cheers!
Thank you for your comment I agree about the Goodyear tyres though

I do actually love the
GT and maybe will get a second bike of a different kind as for ADV riding.
The only nonsens here is only what you say and how you clean the bike......
Love you bother 😝

A pressure washer on a beloved machine? Never.
It might be alot of things but it sounds astonishing! Haha also we need a follow up video.. 😮
I am filming it next week! Will get it done ✅ on the list to do!
Kudos !❤

Would using a leaf blower be a good idea to dry a bike ?
In Switzerland, that model costs 2200 Euro more than in for example Germany. This puts it in the same spot as a Moto Guzzi V7 or a Kawasaki W800. This breaks the deal for me, even if I liked the bike. But the others apparently give more for the same money. But in Germany there's a notable price difference, so there it makes sense.
I’ve got the interceptor 2021 and it’s a brilliant bike. Haven’t had one single issue, honestly. Also, I bought it second hand.

Hi! Thank you for your comment! I really appreciate it.

It takes two minutes to check if your wheel is straight by spinning it with a wire marker touching the rim. It's either true or it isn't. What was the issue with the tyres, did you actually loose grip and slide?
So yeah I checked with a professional tyre shop and they confirmed that the wheel was out of true in both axis. Hence the vibrations.

so it was M&P from Cardiff.

Build quality is excellent. Castings way better than my previous Kawasaki 900 or the Honda before that although Hondas are a better overall machine
Had CEAT tyres several times in the past on trials, scrambles road bikes and cars.
They are a branch of Pirelli and are Enfields are mid compound .
Nothing wrong with them in dry or wet once scrubbed in.
Had way more spoked wheels on bikes than mags never had any of the problems you discribed .
MX bikes and off roaders in general use spokes for a reason they are way tougher than mags being in tension not compression
