Here we have a rather unlikely put likely comparison between the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 and the Norton Commando 961. Both of these machines are true retro modern classic motorbikes. But they are very different in price. The Royal Enfield Costs only £6599 whilst the Norton is £16999! However the Norton is made in England and the RE in India.
Production costs are much higher in the uk so that certainly accounts for a lot of the value, but in this video I establish whether there is really that much in it and is it worth the extra cash?

Norton is now owned by TVS Motor Company, an Indian Motorcycle and Scooter Manufacturing Company based in South of India. So both bikes have the Indian connection.

TVS owns Norton. Bajaj is collaborating with Triumph. Indian motorcycle companies are saving British classics

The Royal Enfield looks way better - clean appearance.

  • @BRICKSINSILK

I can tell you this for free, my girlfriend would think they are the same bike...

In India, following the currency conversion, the prices stand as follows:

Tell those patriotic peoples that Norton is also owned by an Indian company (TVS)

I just bought the RE GT650 as my first bike. Got the all chrome Mr Clean version and it’s god damn beautiful.

Enfield have to take the Crown for turning back the clock on motorcycles glory days. Great looking, great value, uncomplicated, reliable and owners have confidence to use them.

There’s something very special about continental gt. Proportions are just right. A real classic at bargain price

  • @yahoodlums

Bet the Royal Enfield is more reliable

It was mentioned by TVS early on that the Norton's will be made in England for now. They said the plan is to move everything eventually to India. That makes sense from a profitability point of view.

It's amazing how RE kept that quality and beauty.i mean for a split second from Norton to Re it does feel like you lost something but the quality of materials and the fit and finish of RE is amazingly visible through even the video.its staggering how they channeled the passion onto RE even though they have no experience in cafe racer bikes.

if i owned that house, i would buy the norton to sit alongside my other 6 bikes i would probably own and probably put 1000 miles on it in 3 years. Because I don't , i would buy the Enfield, service it myself, ride on shitty roads and put loads of miles on it and then enjoy fixing it when things fall off. The latter sounds more fun to me.

royal enfield is being manufactured in india since 1915, and it was bought by an indian company in 1995,

I was scratching through some delightful rural roads in the Lower Hunter, NSW, Australia last weekend, and came up on a very well ridden Royal Enfield Continental GT. It was stunning to look at, and I was surprised how briskly it could be ridden. I was wishing I could have swapped my S1000R for a while.

I have an interceptor and was going to buy a Norton last year. However after going on the Norton, lovely as it was , I could not see it was worth triple the price.

  • @davidforsdike4343

Is great that there is the choice.
