  • Now that Hilda is finally over, it’s time to look back on the series and dive into what made the fantasy show so special.

    It's crazy how few complaints I have for the show and how easily I can overlook them because of the overall quality

    I imagine the third season ended up the way it did because of Netflix. Apparently it's confirmed that Netflix cut 6 episodes from the final season and they're notorious for giving shows little to no warning about their cancelations, how many seasons they'll get, etc. Personally I really enjoyed the ending despite its flaws, and I found I was actually left with questions and ideas I wanted to see explored further. I love this show, it's such a rarity.

      Same, of course I wish it could’ve been 13 like the other 2 seasons but I mean….with the way Netflix is, we’re lucky they didn’t give us like 3 new episodes and call it a “season” LOL. I could TOTALLY see them doing something sneaky like that and selling us short. We got 8, basically 10 episodes since the last one is a triple length special.
      Also, no matter how unlikely it is I have to admit I’m still kind of crossing my fingers for the show to come back for a movie or special sometime in the far future, “Candace Against The Universe” style.
      This show has a similar vibe to that one tbh where it’s like, you know the characters are still going to go on adventures and keep doing their thing even after the show is over. It felt like a proper ending but at the same time it doesn’t feel like there’s nowhere else to go if it somehow got picked back up in the far future

      @jackthomas2517 I wanted to know more about why the island was dying, can it be restored, what happens if it dies, etc. Also wanted to know why the faeries supposedly kicked out the other magical creatures and if it wasn't actually the island that did it. Why does the moon over fairy country look all broken? Especially because it was prominent in the season promo image. What's up with the guy who had lots of horseshoes on his house? (I'm almost 99.9% sure that was the plot to a scrapped episode) What disease did Hilda's mother have and is it gone for good? Do the humans that get kidnapped turn into faeries? (That seems to be the implication) What happened to the fairy mounds? I know some of them were destroyed on purpose, but what about the others?

    I've stumbled through this Show cause of my 10-year-old daughter who absolutely adores it. The characters are funny and enjoyable, from Hilda to the elves, Giants, etc. I watched all the seasons and enjoyed them all, it was refreshing to see such a beautiful simple animated show for the kids, even the Soundtrack and background music were spot on every time. It was like watching an old animated show from the old era with beautiful English voices and very well appropriate for everyone, I hope they Consider making other seasons in the future with the same cast.

    I don't think that the 3rd season takes away the feeling that Hilda is just a person like you and me. For me, the reason why she is so adventurous is because she lived in the wilderness for most of her childhood with a lot of freedom and so the natural curious mind of a child wasn't hindered from living a curious driven life (A small bit of her adventurousness may have been inspired from the storys she heard from her father). The only thing that the fairy stuff explained for me is why Hilda has blue hair, that's it. Yes sure, it explains some more interesting stuff about her and especially her mothers origins but what bothers me about that, is that Johanna often says that she was in the Sparrow Scouts when she was Hilda's age, but in season 3 she is shown not living in Trolberg during that time and so couldn't really have been in the Sparrow Scouts from Trolberg during that time. It could be that there are Sparrow Scouts in Tofoten but we don't see any signs of them being there and Johanna acts like she went to the Sparrow scouts in Tofoten.
    Besides this I have no real problems with the show and I love it

    • @jediuser8654
      @jediuser8654 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      'She is shown not living in Trolberg?'
      Actually, it can be assumed she left Totofen when she was around 11 or 12, which is Hilda's age for most of the show. So yes, she still could have been in the Sparrow Scouts when she was around Hilda's age.

    • @DF_17
      @DF_17 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree that she could have left shortly after her parents left, but then I'm asking myself what she would need to do to achieve that. Astrid didn't go with here, so she would have gone by herself to a possibly unknown place (I don't think we got information about her going to Trolberg with here parents but she could have) with no known relatives and live there by herself. Something like an orphanage or youth could be a possibility.
      This is all theoretical, as we don't have any facts about that time, but I guess I have to agree that there are ways by which Johanna could be in Trolberg during here youth. I do think that she would'nt have gone to Trolberg all by herself at the age of 11 or 12 and think that by the way that I have to search for specific ways to legitimize her being in Trolberg at that age points to it being unlikely

    • @jediuser8654
      @jediuser8654 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@DF_17 She mentioned going to a boarding school. And she mentioned discovering the Fairy Mound when she was a bit younger than Hilda (who was 13 at the time). So yes, it is possible she went to Trolberg by herself when she was 11 or 12.

    I honestly really liked the third season, and it's actually has a lot to do with how the story gets bigger and more complicated. I find it fitting because the characters grow up, and as part of growing up life becomes more complicated, and your view widens. But despite that, you are still who you are, and the charms of the world of around you stay as well. I think the third season of Hilda manages to capture that atmosphere really well

    Hilda's fae heritage doesn't offer an additional explanation as to why she loves the wilderness. It gives a little context to why Johanna wanted to raise her daughter in the woods, but Hilda's love for the wild comes from being raised there.

    You don’t have to agree but imo this was right up there with Gravity Falls and Amphibia for best finales for me. The “complaints” people have with it are all really minor tbh, which is how you know it’s good. Ppl nitpicking means there’s not that much to pick on:)
    If you compare it to the Steven Universe or Star vs the Forces Of Evil finales it’s practically perfect XD before anyone starts, I love both of those shows but even I have to agree SU’s finale felt kinda silly/rushed and Star’s just left me going “wait what??”. (Star’s finale felt like the episode just….stops. In fact when it ended by pausing on that last frame I went “huh??” and thought my phone froze before realizing that yes, that was the real ending. Trying to describe it w/o spoilers but if you’ve seen it you probably know)

    i don't think season 3 is weak. i think i like it more than the first one. i like that it somehow went a little bit darker than previous ones because... the trio is growing up. but it's still magical and entertaining. and also they needed to do it different because it's the final one. the only thing that season 3 feels rushed because of the lack of episodes. seems Sony and Netflix did them dirty, huh
