    • @chuckonillo8961

      That's simply because there is no Michelin Guide for the Philippines.
      And just throwing it out there, this restaurant star rating system, created by a company more than a century ago to increase its tire sales, is flipping overrated.

    Just a reference for non Filipinos. “Bahay Kubo” does not translate as “a house with a garden”. Bahay Kubo is what we call our traditional Filipino Hut House. The song they were singing were about different types of vegetables in a “Bahay Kubo”.

    • @laughingman_confused
      @laughingman_confused หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      Ang bahay kubo ay hindi tungkol lamang sa loob ng bahay kundi kasama ang labas ng bahay at buong nasasakupan nito. "Bahay kubo kahit munti, ang halaman doon ay sari sari". Parang bahay kubo sa gitna ng palayan. O bahay kubo sa gitna ng pala isdaan.

      You’re right, it doesn’t translate to a house with a garden. But put into context, that translation isn’t so inaccurate. Bahay Kubo is generally associated with the province and agricultural areas. Typically, farms would have bahay kubos.

    • @deckmiller3652
      @deckmiller3652 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Bahay Kubo literally means hut. But the Bahay Kubo song means something more than the hut as it includes the entire garden and each vegetable in it. I hope they update the lyrics to include okra and ampalaya. Then add bagoong in the end so we now have Pakbet. 😅

    All these "initiatives" won't make a dent in the waste problem. Congress needs to allow Waste-to-Energy Powerplants by amending the Clean Air Act which right now forbids burning any waste by any method. Not even medical incinerators are allowed. Waste-to-Energy can also lower electricity costs for the country, which are the highest in Southeast Asia.

    • @Soybomb05
      @Soybomb05 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I'm a professional translator and - if you knew anything about translating - you'd know that direct translation usually isn't the way to go. For example, in the video they say "Mata sa langit, paa sa lupa" which directly translates to "Eyes to the heavens, feet on the ground", but that doesn't really capture the essence of what the motto means. The correct translation (and the one they used) is "Dream high, but stay grounded".
      "Nipa hut" might be the direct translation of "bahay kubo", but for foreigners that don't know what a nipa hut is that translation doesn't do anything for them. What in the world is a nipa hut if you're someone from America or Europe? "Home with a garden" is something that people from all walks of life will understand, that's why that's the correct translation.

      @@Soybomb05 but a bahay kubo does not necessarily have a garden. actually bahay kubos i've seen up north (Cordilleras) are in a village away from the fields and the gardens. it's probably the ones in the lowlands that have gardens around them.

    • @balonglong100
      @balonglong100 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@oxoelfoxo Exactly, I suppose if I were to translate under the gaze of a certain demographic, I would reduce it to "house with a garden." Plus, it really means nipa hut or grass hut, unlike the direct translation as previously stated.
