The first time I was in Vietnam, I was at a lost. The language barrier was fierce. I couldn't even properly compute their money. Being a Filipino, I was so used to the Philippine Pesos. But most of the people that I encountered in Vietnam were very kind to me. They knew instantly, just by listening to my voice, and my accent that I am a Filipino, and they would ask, "you Filipino?" And I'd say, "yes." They will always answer with, I love Filipinos. You helped us before. We help you now. We are friends!" Despite the barriers, our hearts are connected through history. I'm looking forward to the day I'd go back and visit Vietnam again.

The first country the leader of Vietnam visited was the Philippines, as a gratitude for our Nation for not sending combatant soldiers to fight them and join the US forces in the Vietnam War even we (The Philippines), are the US close ally (unlike in the Korean War whom Filipino soldiers fought side by side with the South Korean and American soldiers, against the North Korean and Chinese soldiers). In the Vietnam War, our late President Ferdinand E. Marcos DENIED the US Congress of their request to join them in combat and instead sent non combatant soldiers (PHILCAG) only to repair bridges, schools etc. and for humanitarian services. And for that reason and decision the friendships will forever be written in our (Vietnam - Philippines) History. 🙂🇻🇳❤️🇵🇭

In Vietnamese culture, middle-aged or more people who are not blood-related would call each other "anh" (elder brother) or "chị" (elder sister) to express respect to each other, regardless of their real age. In my observation, people usually practice that after having their (first) child married. FYI.

We may be part of the 3rd world country but our hospitality is considered best and warm around the world. I am a Filipino living in Vietnam for 2 1/2 years now. Vietnamese people are so kind, accomodating and helpful. They always have a smile on their face just like us filipinos. They too are hard working and you can find women working in house/ building construction even in roads construction. I praise how these people work so hard. I am amazed that I see no beggars roaming here in Ho Chi Mihn, instead they sell sweepstake tickets for livelihood. The hardest thing I find here is the language barrier, their language is too hard to learn.
In the amidst of corona virus and other shitty issues we have right now, all we need are stories like these. Heartwarming and it’s so pure. Humanity needs human values.
These people mommy mihn and mommy ahn are one of many vietnamise i meet in palawan i lived in their community "vietnamise village palawan" at the staff house were my sister and brother are working that time. Vietnamise people are very friendly, i love their culture and specially their foods it more of vigges and noodles!😁 Mommy mihn and mommy ahn hope you still remember me. This is a great memory. I used to live in Palawan and met a lot of Pilipinos people. They were truly kindness, helpful and honesty. Even I live the United State now whenever I approach or see Pilipinos i always look at them with respectful and thanks every thing you did to ours Vietmanese Boat People and You are the great ones.
When I worked in Frankfurt Germany, I used to eat vietnamese food in a vietnamese restaurant. I missed that foods now that I'm back in the Philippines. God bless these Vietnamese women.
The two old Vietnamese ladies are delightful, but the hero for meof this wonderful story is Kuya Jun. He represented Filipinos very well and all the traditional values we hold dear, friendliness, kindness, selflessness, and best of all, loyalty. Well done Kuya!
I remember my Vietnamese school mates in Manila - they are kind and simple people - they are really vegetarian and they are slim - one day one Vietnamese told me - you Filipinos are meat eaters - She came and cooked shabu shabu for my board mate who is from Myanmar. In 1990's many refugees came to the Phil and they are hard working, they engage in "buy and sell" so they go from school to school or from office to office. But sometimes their experienced are not good because one related that his place was ransacked. This video is an eye opener for us and it impels us to respect one another and love one another regardless of culture, race, religion and others. May God bless us all.

I can feel your sentiments about the Chinese who ruled you for how many years. My Myanmar board mate told me that since we have also Chinese with us. I went to Korea last May. when my sisters and I were falling in line to go up Namsam Tower, a man was looking at us as if he was about to say something or as if we are familiar. I told my sister, maybe that guy is from Phil or he thought that we are from his country. when we were up and was seated, he approached us and we entertained him, he told us that he is from Vietnam and he was with his family. he left them in order to talk to us. I was able to talk to him slowly and for him also to understand me because of his limited English but I was able to grasped his words and I understood that his son who is a US Army and came home for vacation and treated them to Korea. He is very jolly and he even invited us to Vietnam to visit too. I am very much associated with Vietnamese people because the first Movie I watched during my college days was about Vietnam war example Green Beret and others and because of the refugees whom I encountered I even buy shoes from them. Turtle is delicious I tasted the big one when I went to the Pacific Island in Chuuk, Micronesia. We Filipinos can also eat the food you mentioned but not in a regular meal those who like only but not cat.
If we are to really commit to strengthening or building a united ASEAN community, we should start to share and bring more stories like this to the surface. Truly heart-warming and inspirational. Thank you for making this video.

This is one of the best videos Ive watched in recent years! I also had a chance dining at their restaurant... the food was good and simple (as Vietnamese cuisine is about fresh and healthy food). Then I ordered a Bahn Mi to go... eating it at the hotel was one of the best memories of Palawan for me! I still want to go back... I hope to meet with three the next time. If any of you gets to visit Puerto Princesa in Palawan, do visit the former Vietnamese Refugee Center’s restaurant... patronising their food is supporting them thru their livelihood. I had a chance to visit Viet Ville Restaurant in Palawan last year and the food were so delicious. Two years ago, I went on a leisure travel to Vietnam (Ho Chi Min and Ha Long Bay) and I find the Vietnamese people so friendly. I would love to go back in Vietnam again soon.
Despite all that has been happening to the country for the last few decades, I am still proud that I was born here. It is such a pride to be a Filipino!

after 3 years i am still crying and joyful watching this .... ive worked with vietnamese in the PRPC Camp in Bataan for more than 5 YEARS and my life has never been the same again. I miss my vietnamese students and i still have some connection with them thru FB . Sayang i wasnt able to visit the Restaurant when i went to Palawan sime years ago

Heading back to Manila from Lubang Island our ship rescued Vietnamese people out in the sea. Their happiness could not cover their hard journey. I was crying inside and could not show being sad for them,aware that our country had little to offer but a ground to stand on. Through the years This thought stuck in my head. I guess reaching out a hand is enough for someone in need.😊

Vietnamise people are very friendly, i love their culture and specially their foods it more of vigges and noodles!😁 Mommy mihn and mommy ahn hope you still remember me. This is a great memory. I used to live in Palawan and met a lot of Pilipinos people. They were truly kindness, helpful and honesty. Even I live the United State now whenever I approach or see Pilipinos i always look at them with respectful and thanks every thing you did to ours Vietmanese Boat People and You are the great ones.

I remember my Vietnamese school mates in Manila - they are kind and simple people - they are really vegetarian and they are slim - one day one Vietnamese told me - you Filipinos are meat eaters - She came and cooked shabu shabu for my board mate who is from Myanmar. In 1990's many refugees came to the Phil and they are hard working, they engage in "buy and sell" so they go from school to school or from office to office. But sometimes their experienced are not good because one related that his place was ransacked. This video is an eye opener for us and it impels us to respect one another and love one another regardless of culture, race, religion and others. May God bless us all.

we not vegetarian really , our food just have bunch of veggie lol , we do eat meat and fish a lot , heck there is a say in Vietnam any thing that move is a food lol we eat turtle , snake ,dog , catt, bird and tons of other wild animal lol beside of the normal beef and pork and fish , i think it all come from the Chinese influent of eating everything lol it both great and suck that we live next to china and have east asia cultural mindset , the bad thing is we allway get invade by china , the great is we learn a lot of great thing from them like everyone els in the east asia cultural . beware of china rise they can act like your friend but betray you right away if you show weakness , we know them way to well lol live with them and fight them for nearly 4000 year ( they are 5000 year old history, we Vietnamese only have 4000 year )

I can feel your sentiments about the Chinese who ruled you for how many years. My Myanmar board mate told me that since we have also Chinese with us. I went to Korea last May. when my sisters and I were falling in line to go up Namsam Tower, a man was looking at us as if he was about to say something or as if we are familiar. I told my sister, maybe that guy is from Phil or he thought that we are from his country. when we were up and was seated, he approached us and we entertained him, he told us that he is from Vietnam and he was with his family. he left them in order to talk to us. I was able to talk to him slowly and for him also to understand me because of his limited English but I was able to grasped his words and I understood that his son who is a US Army and came home for vacation and treated them to Korea. He is very jolly and he even invited us to Vietnam to visit too. I am very much associated with Vietnamese people because the first Movie I watched during my college days was about Vietnam war example Green Beret and others and because of the refugees whom I encountered I even buy shoes from them. Turtle is delicious I tasted the big one when I went to the Pacific Island in Chuuk, Micronesia. We Filipinos can also eat the food you mentioned but not in a regular meal those who like only but not cat.
The Filipinos always have a special place in my heart!

This is one of the best videos Ive watched in recent years! I also had a chance dining at their restaurant... the food was good and simple (as Vietnamese cuisine is about fresh and healthy food). Then I ordered a Bahn Mi to go... eating it at the hotel was one of the best memories of Palawan for me! I still want to go back... I hope to meet with three the next time.
If any of you gets to visit Puerto Princesa in Palawan, do visit the former Vietnamese Refugee Center’s restaurant... patronising their food is supporting them thru their livelihood. Its also located in this lush forested area by the beach.... It gives you this lovely feeling if being in nature! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I had a chance to visit Viet Ville Restaurant in Palawan last year and the food were so delicious. Two years ago, I went on a leisure travel to Vietnam (Ho Chi Min and Ha Long Bay) and I find the Vietnamese people so friendly. I would love to go back in Vietnam again soon.

When I visited Palawan in 2019, there were quite a number of Vietnamese restaurants. Then, I learned that during the war, Philippines served as refuge to some of displaced Vietnamese. I hope that this kind friendship among ASEAN nations continue and may we continue to help each other. 🇵🇭❤🇻🇳
after 3 years i am still crying and joyful watching this .... ive worked with vietnamese in the PRPC Camp in Bataan for more than 5 YEARS and my life has never been the same again. I miss my vietnamese students and i still have some connection with them thru FB . Sayang i wasnt able to visit the Restaurant when i went to Palawan sime years ago

Heading back to Manila from Lubang Island our ship rescued Vietnamese people out in the sea. Their happiness could not cover their hard journey. I was crying inside and could not show being sad for them,aware that our country had little to offer but a ground to stand on. Through the years This thought stuck in my head. I guess reaching out a hand is enough for someone in need.😊
