    I use a similar set up. home built inner tent and 9'x10' silnylon tarp. I built the inner by sewing a Sawyer bug net to a length of silnylon. left room to get in and it closes with a Velcro tab. with the tarp I can get the water far enough from me so it doesn't pool under me. I have been able to stay dry many times when tenters were getting pooled.
    I built it after not being able to find a cheap ultralight. with the ridgeline, guy lines, stakes tarp and inner it is only 2.5lbs.
    cost me $15, as I only bought the Sawyer bug bivy. I had the silnylon.

      Yes it works well and very handy in abd weather. Just need to create a V-pole system /setup rather than centre pole. Many do it with the Duomid but can be a faf. Need to get my thinking cap on. Don't mind a fair bit of extra weight if tent is mega stable and with lots of clear space inside. Atb

    Hi. Thanks! Really useful. I have a MLD mesh inner for my Duomid but wanted a solid one to reduce draughts. This looks great value. One comment, interested on your views. It looks like one side of the inner is steeper than other- the steep side being your 'head end'. Does that limit pitching opportunities ie if you're not on completely level ground and you want your head higher than your feet it would detetmine which way round you'd have to pitch the outer? Hope that makes sense!!! Still at the price it's worth a punt for me anyway.

    • @RS.Outdoors
      @RS.Outdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have added some adhesive tabs to add extra tie out points with it. This helps pull it out and give bit more space and stop it sagging. Will be trying it all on the CWT hike next week so you will see what I am on about in a future video. Atb

    Hi Scot, Love this system :). i wanted to ask you a few questions , if you had to choose between the MLD duomid with this inner tent and the Notch Li with partial solid inner, which one would you go for? and why?
    Also which one feels more roomy inside to sleep in it? I'm 6 feet tall, concerning touching the inner tent with the end part of my sleeping bag. Also notch li seems very narrow at end parts, doesn't seem there is much space to move in it overall? The inner from aliexpress seems a bit more roomy?
    Which one it's more easy to pitch??
    What about the floor of the Inner tent from aliexpress, is it very slippery? does the sleeping mat slip when tent is pitched on a slope?
    Thank you so much :))

    • @RS.Outdoors
      @RS.Outdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Duomid with the aliexpress inner is better. Only reason i sold the duomid was the cammo pattern and lack of double zip on door. Other than that it is a great tent. It has the benefit of being able to setup your sleeping bag and mat in the inner nest and drop it to sit on as a seat. You have far more space inside to do admin. The T-Zip setup on the aliexpress means you can setup mats, ect far easier. The Duomid also comes with multiple guyline points for stormy weather which i am having to add to the Notch. I did have to add some adhesive tie out points for the ali inner just to make it a bit tighter when setup. One downside to the duomid is finding camping spots when doing trail walks as it is a fairly large footprint compared the Notch. From my experience using tents such as the Wickiup as well, any pyramid shelter performs great for space and wind protection. Atb

    Looks good but would you not rather have your wickiup3 with that inner? It looks like you’ve lost a bit of room and I know how much you like camping in the snow. Still, as you said plenty of guy points on that one. Have fun hope it works out for you

    • @RS.Outdoors
      @RS.Outdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Maff. Still lots of room in this. I actually prefer it due to the smaller footprint making it easier to pitch in places. The WickiUp was good but it covered a massive area which was a slight negative depending where you wanted to camp. Atb

    Hi Ray - this seemed to work great for you on your CWT! I've been using (and modding) Lanshans for a wee while now, but I see they have a 4 season L1 which is called the Lanshan 'plus', which actually simply means it's bigger on the inside! lol. I've ordered just the inner from aliexpress because the outer dimensions don't seem to have changed. At around £50 it's not overkill for what could be a big(ish) upgrade! just sayin'.... atb Sinco

      Hi To try and help you I have a Osprey 85. A vango 65. A Asda 45. A vango 25. The Osprey is fantastic in every way bar the price. It was a multi person present.
      The vango 65 is good but never quite fitted me on my back for even pressure.
      The Asda 45 Is sboluitly fantastic. It gets used and abused all the time and still is perfect. It cost £16. My one regret is i didn't buy another couple at the time. 10/10
      Vango 25 is a everyday bag and is old and knackered but it has served me 26 years.
      My advice to you is head to Go outdoors or similar and try them on with a load in them and walk about the shop to get the feel for it. Take your time and dont be rushed by any of the staff. Everyone's backs are different shapes and lengths. What is perfect for me might be totally wrong for you. Hope that helps you. Cheers
