If you're learning, pitch pattern really doesn't mean much as long as you speak standard japanese and you get your point across. At most, they would think you're either half-japanese or they'd ask how long you've been living in japan

Not that I'm expecting to be treated a whole lot different (I know I'll generally always be seen as a gaikokujin no matter how good my Japanese is), but it would be nice to know the nuances of speaking the language or even a particular dialect to potentially have a more layered experience in conversation with others. There are things about how a person talks that can subconsciously affect the impression of the listener.

Ahahahaha, I really enjoyed this. Aha, just now I realized the difference between bridge and chopsticks in Kansai dialect.
The fact that the "sore wa" intonation makes a huge difference makes me more self-conscious of it as a Japanese language learner now. LOL

標準語はそんなに難しい所も多い、例えば「それは↓」っと言う言葉が標準語で何故か分からないままず〜っと「それは↑」っと言ってラッキーなところ東京での日本語学校の先生方から「ってあんたどこの出身かい？ここ関東の標準語の日本語学校だから何言っとんねん？」っとか聞かれませんでしたw。TakoAkiとOnomappuさんのコラボが面白い。教育の為っと言っても良く漫才化のやり方もして「お○どりー」みたいな感じで面白くてちゃんと勉強になります！

「キッチン」の飲食業における発音は、タコアキさんの様な平板アクセントの方が関東でも主流です。（他にも飲食業で使う「ホール」の発音も、演劇を行うホールとは違って平板アクセントになります。）彼氏、彼女が若者言葉でカレシ、カノジョという風にアクセントが変わる様に、仕事用語っぽさ、仲間内感を出すためだと思われますし、日本語として定着している自宅のキッチンと確実に意味を分けたい思いを感じます。

in 雨 (rain) it's like there's an accent on the あ and in 飴 (candy) the accent would be on the め. I recommend the app JAccent for pronounciations :)
