    What a fantastic collection of RF lenses. I am hedging my bets for the time being, but hope very much that Canon comes out with a high quality 28mm prime lens, which would become my walkaround, assuming it's not too heavy. Fuji now has a superb version of its own and I can't quite understand why Canon has neglected this versatile focal length for so long. I almost obtained the 50mm f/1.2 for a very good price online recently, but the retailer was not prepared to ship it to Spain. So my meagre collection to date is simply the Samyang RF 14mm f/2.8 and Canon RF 50mm f/1.8. To be honest, both are pretty average but as I say, I am not yet fully committed to Canon RF because of the cost/benefit considerations as an enthusiast photographer. I have no doubt whatsoever that all of your lenses are absolutely brilliant, but it's simply that in the RF world at present, there seems to be outstanding and mediocre, with very little in-between. I hope that changes soon.

      I’ve actually never tried out a 28mm prime lens. It does seem like it would be the perfect walkaround lens.
      That’s so true. You’re right, the rf lenses are so expensive. I’m fortunate to have acquired most of my rf lenses prior to the quarantine. At that time, it was easy to find like new copies for relatively low price.

    This was interesting! Congrats on your setup! :) I now own the RF 2.8 trinity (15-35, 24-70, 70-200) and the RF 50 1.8. I am completely satisfied with that setup and can do most of the things I want to do with those lenses. Now I am just waiting for more affordable primes to come out in the future. A 35 1.4 or a 85 1.5 by Sigma would be stunning! ;) If also would love to get a longer zoom lens for wildlife in the future, but atm I don’t have the time for that.

      I got the trinity 2.8 and 35 and 50 1.8. I would love to expand it to either the 85 1.2 or maybe the 100-500, but I see using the 85 more for events and such. Do you have any recommendations as to why not use the 70-200 at 85?

    • @BCPCamerasTech
      @BCPCamerasTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I really like the 70-200mm for events. If I didn’t have the 85mm f1.2, I think I’d be perfectly happy using the 70-200mm f2.8 for everything. The rf 85 1.2 has definitely come in handy in some low light environments though. I think about selling the rf 85mm from time to time. If I did I’d probably go with the 100-500 or just save the money.

    My line of lenses:
    - RF 24-105 F4 - Got this bundled with the EOS R, which I still have and will keep as it's an excellent allround lens, even on my new R5.
    - RF 35 F1.8 - SOLD - This prime was quite good, and could be used, but I couldn't justify it with the 15-35 lens below even if it's a zoom, heavier and slower.
    - RF 16 F2.8 - SOLD - The RF 16 was just too weird to work with, and the sun stars were not the prettiest (double).
    - RF 15-35 F2.8 - replaced the 16 and 35 prime lenses for this bad boy.
    Next lenses I''m gonna get, in this order:
    - RF 100-500 - need a telezoom, and this looks really good!
    - RF 50 1.2 (or future 1.4?) / RF 100 macro - can't decide which to have first of these two, but I have enough time to think about it :P

    An interesting topic for a future video would be whether a 24-70 is necessary for those who own the 15-35 and RF 50mm f/1.2. I have both and the 24-70 but find that this zoom gets little use. The 15-35 is surprisingly versatile, even for environmental portraits, and the 50mm lens is ahead of even the 28-70 f/2. I just don't feel attached to the 24-70.

      I may be wrong about this but I vaguely remember watching a video about someone complaining about the amount that you have to turn the zoom dial on the RF lens in order to get it to zoom in to 200mm and out to 70mm. The only negative is maybe the bokeh sometimes, like it’s not as blown out as some of the super expensive ultra fast lenses of course. But at roughly the same price as a single one of the above, it’s probably one of the most versatile lenses of all time. For a studio environment where you’re above the minimum focal length most of the time anyway it’s almost completely replaced all other lenses for me, I only want the 85 now for those outdoor portraits and low light wedding pictures. I just sold all of those and the 28-70, 2x R5s. As wedding and event photographer, I will not miss the weight. My friends and working pros I know thought I was joking until I shared the Ebay links. I've been shooting Canon for 20 years. After the 4th overheating as DOP of long form interviews and multiple times the R5 would just freeze while shooting weddings and no true answers from Canon's CPS other than them saying my memory cars were the issue(I used sands CF Express so nope), I just can't deal with these crippling issues anymore.

    • @BCPCamerasTech
      @BCPCamerasTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea I can see why you are upset. I haven't had any of the freezing issues and my atomos ninja V has allowed me to record for longer sessions without overheating (I understand that's probably too much weight for weddings though). Looks like you had a very nice set up. What did you move too? Sony?

      @@BCPCamerasTech At the moment it's just for personal use, as I master the discipline. But with the emergence of the AVP, and so little quality VR180 content, there's an opportunity there.
      I'm not sure about the idea of stock footage in this format. I guess that could be a thing. Though I'm not sure the medium lends itself to the same sort of video editing, b-roll, sort of stuff that's so common in 2D projects. You want to be careful what you're doing isn't too jarring. It's a very different experience being 'in' the film, verses just watching it on screen.
