I was given a red 1999 vw with 150,000 and fell in love with the cars. It needs alot of work and I've been keeping her running but some problems are out of my expertise right now so, I went and bought a dark flint edition 2005 convertible it's a beautiful car. If you haven't seen one you'll have to Google it, red top with a flint colored body, red leather seats, came with a factory amp and tweeters. Needs back window repair, polished up, the back passenger window is a little off track and a power steering pump. Simple fixes, startes the back window and it looks really good. I'm new to the car repairs but I've been loving fixing up my two cars, my father in law has been helping me alot as well. Everyone looks at them like a girly old lady car but they have never driven one.
Love this video. It's putting some for under my rear to get on my bug. Owned it 17 years. Haven't been driving it because it needs a few things done. 234k miles. Slowly ordering parts for it. Just need to make some time. Plan to be the little old man at the car show one day worth my bug I've owned most my life. I'll never give up on it. Love it.
I got a 2000. I got it at a good deal and just needed it to get around town for a year or two. It only had 73,000 miles on it after almost 20 years. Only real problem is, is it's an automatic and gets stuck in 3rd gear after awhile. Almost feels like driving a golf cart for a couple days, then it shifts good. I'm surprised how much I like driving this car, I've had many many cars but have really loved driving this car, I fit good in it. But anyhow, nice resto, gives me hope that I can rebuild mine too. Hard to find people to help or parts unless you pay huge dollars.
Mine had the same problem. It's a "limp mode" for self protection. In my case the culprit was the transmission controller, but I changed the solenoid valve body too.
Dang all kinds of Yellow Bugs on here and I can't even find Yellow parts LoL, I just bought a 2000 Yellow bug today and I'm needing Door Panels, Hood, Hood Latch and some other Yellow Body Parts & Some Interior parts too
I get most of my parts from local salvage yards like interior and body parts also ebay is good for small parts but when it comes to new parts the dealer i try to stay clear from they are outrageous but sometimes you have no choice
I got a 1999 had to buy a battery she has been sitting all pandemic. I paid 650 she has problems and miles but it’s all good. I wanted one my entire life. I am 51 yrs old this was my teenage dream not the new beetle but it don’t matter. I’m about to fix her up. I’m not buying a new car and she is great on gas ⛽️ great

How much did you spend all together? I got a 2004 TDI blue 134.000 in it for 1500 Benji's and I spent 450 on parts
