I truly appreciate your honesty in this video about how, as a first time mom, you cared too much about how things looked. I have been watching a ton of videos like these and cannot fathom the amount of money people are willing to spend on products that are not as good as others just because they're cuter. I feel this comes from a want to "keep up with the Joneses" so I am very thankful that there is a person who is being honest and saying "looks aren't everything."

You can change that setting on the snoo by locking it on baseline or whatever level you want it at. It won’t increase levels if it’s locked even when baby cries. We absolutely loved the snoo and it was such a godsend in the first few months.

The angelcare bath seat is by far my favorite baby product. In the winter time it was super cold and water would cool much quicker if there wasn’t a lot of water. So being able to fill the tub with as much water needed kept the water at the desirable temperature longer.

They must have updated the manual because loading the car seat into the th-cam.com/users/postUgkxIG_q-ZqgbzYXwbeApK3AybegDUy4f2fF double stroller was mentioned in the manual (unlike previous comments/reviews). The undercarriage basket is quite large but it is difficult to access when the back rider is reclined, however my toddler usually doesn't fall asleep in the stroller these days so I haven't had an issue. I was amazed by how smooth the ride was and how easily I was able to maneuver the stroller in small spaces. My toddler loves that she can see her baby sister (see photo) during the ride :) Plus you can't beat the price! I have only loaded it once in my car and it is fairly light but my mother wouldn't be able to lift it in.

My first born didn’t like the calming setting most times with the snoo either... however, you can program it in the app so that it doesn’t go to those higher calming levels. Essentially, you can just use it for its baseline rocking motion. You can also set it for the wheening setting and just use the noise. We used this to transition our guy to the crib - and overall it worked well.

For pack and plays, the guava family lotus. Not only is it pretty, it is more functional than the average pack and play because the mattress goes to the floor and the side opens up, so their isn't a weight limit. even when kids get bigger, it can be used as something they can easily crawl in and out of to nap without climbing over the top. There isn't a risk of breaking if they like to jump either. Added bonus is the bassinet attachment which we use as our "downstairs" and travel bassinet when we have a tiny baby.

3rd time mom here. I live in a small space with mine. I have a 4 year old, a 2 year old, and I'm due with baby girl in july. With my first I bought SO MANY things that I never used.
Things I regret buying - baby towels and wash rags, baby bath seats, changing table (I just ended up using the bed) baby gowns, lots and lots of baby socks, baby shoes (seriously they don't walk that young!) baby swings, mine have hated them all except the glider. and probably a few other things
Things I loved - My arms reach co sleeper, my graco glider, a pillow that i can just sit baby on, my joovy glass bottles and my dr brown glass bottles, my joovy stroller that could fit up to 3 kids. A really good all in one carseat. lilly baby carrier, my 4moms playpen, seriously go look it up! A simple baby bouncer. My second loved to bounce and a simple jumper. My joovy spoon, my first got to use this but my second couldn't use it due to no space.
The joovy stroller, quill I think..., is able to fit up to 3. The problem I had is that even though I have a 4 and a 2 year old, my 4 year old out grew that thing LONG ago. I ended up giving it to my neighbors.
Those are some things on the top of my head.

I wouldn't stress too much about a travel system for one child when having your next. We have 5 kids with another on the way and I find that the child that's growing out of the pram, generally goes fine without needing to be in the pram. She would rather walk. Plus if you have a carry pack/wrap you can always use that. Don't beat yourself up of stress over needing a different one. You will be fine 😊 if you didn't like the travel system, then yes by all means, sell it and get one you would prefer.

We have a Pack N Play that has a "bassinet" attachment (essentially raises the bed up so you don't have to bend down so far). The diaper changing station on it is a joke because it's too much hassle to detach, so i just leave that part off. We love it otherwise, though. It's our primary crib and you can buy a mattress to make it a bit more comfortable for baby. I'll warn, though, that like many Graco products, the initial setup makes IKEA products look crazy simple.
We also got a Graco stroller that works with our carseat carrier. I've recently discovered that i can leave the carrier out, lay the seat flat, put a blanket down for comfort, and use it as a really simple portable bed to keep my baby near me while i move around the house.

on my second infant, so we never buy swings. we buy rockers.. with vibration. why? because we dont want our baby to have to be rocked to sleep. but if we choose to for a short time we can. as for swaddles, we use muslin blankets. they can be used as towels, burp cloths and feeding covers as well as just a blanket. its breathable if it falls to the babys face and cool.

Absolutely completely agree with you about the nail clippers! We started using the cuticle trimmers when baby was like 2wks old and people thought we were nuts. Also as far as the PNP I definitely would not waste money getting a fancy one like 4moms or the nuna. We have a graco and use it everyday. If you're looking for containment and not necessarily sleeping I'd recommend a tent from the California beach co.
Edited to add - we have the halo swivel bassinest and HATE it. The idea of the swivel is great except for the fact that unless the top is lined up with the base directly in the middle it is lopsided and uneven. I saw after we received it plenty of other parents had the same dissatisfaction with it.

I’ve never agreed with a regrets/favorites video as much as I have yours!! The snoo, the swing, the baby bath! I wish I had bought a double travel system and rocker as well. I’m on my 3rd now and we are trying out the arms reach bassinet, the graco duet connect swing and I got a really sturdy rocking chair off of facebook market place for 75 bucks! Pretty excited!
I love my solly baby wraps and baby bjorn mini for the newborn phase. I used my wildbird ring sling a lot with my first but not so much my second (he was so heavy!). I want to check out the Lillelight carrier with this one because I’m not a fan of bulky structured carriers but do like the back carry options.
Also we have used the guava lotus travel crib, super easy to setup and tote around. And the munchkin baby bath is my fave!!

Regrets: dream on me bassinet. It’s lower than my bed so before she could stabilize her head it was scary trying to get her out without standing up. It’s also super bulky and hard for me to bring up and down the stairs.
Wipe warmer. Did not use. Baby didn’t care that the wipes were cold.
Bottle warmer. I just microwaved the water for formula or breast milk or gave it to her cold.

We used the Graco Simple Sway Swing with my son and it worked great for us...and it’s neutral so it doesn’t look crazy in our house. But even more than that I loved the Baby Bjorn bouncer. Its so easy to move around the house or fold up if you don’t need it. If I could only buy one it would for sure be that bouncer!

Definitely recommend investing in a rocker. We bought a old school rocking chair last min and it was just the normal wooden ones with padding. It was uncomfortable after sitting for a long period of time and plenty of nights we accidentally fell asleep in it. But we made it work, and used it religiously still loved it even though it got uncomfortable.

This time around im buying items that have dual function. Like a Baby swing that is also a rocker or bouncer too. The pack n play instead of a bassinet, because this has the infant seat or bassinet, then a full bassinet, and a changer and caddy on it..then its a portable crib for travel too. It's a 4 in 1. 6 in 1 highchair, well because...its self explanatory...he can use it reclined while an infant..so he can be with us for family dinners..and then grows with him! Just keeping to this kind of theme because I remember with my first son..we had sooooo many things it was overwhelming and we had no space for living amongst the baby items. Of course we will have other items..but the ones mentioned really cover many and will take up less space so we have room for more! Good luck mama's!

  • @yarazard
    @yarazard 2 ปีที่แล้ว

For swaddles or sleepsacks, I highly recommend that you only get one of each kind until you figure out what your baby likes. Our baby hated any swaddle/sleepsack that constricted her arms in any way.

Ugh thank god I found this! I am so close to buying the snoo and for our income we would have to save up it’s something we can’t just splurge on. But the having to get up out of bed to nurse the baby is a no no for me, I got the halo because I want to lean over and grab the baby.

To prevent regret buying, I buy my baby stuff at yardsales, thrift stores consignment stores, peddlers malls and Facebook marketplace. If it does not workout then I will just sell it to someone and get my money back or in MOST cases make a profit. Why buy new when you don’t even know what your baby will like. I am an interior designer so having ugly baby stuff is not my vibe but at least brands are getting better about making better looking products that I can buy preowned from someone else. I started collecting things early even before pregnancy so that I could get the look I was going for and not be scrambling to find everything last minute.

I am a 7th time mom and I disagree about the Snoo. I think maybe your issue was you got it at 8 weeks. I have had my 7th baby in there since day 2 and it has been a lifesaver for my sleep.

We have the Graco duet connect swing/bouncer. I really like it bc it's not crazy ugly bc the colors are neutral but the seat detaches and you can use it as a bouncer (that vibrates). Which is nice bc the swings aren't easy to move around but if I need bring baby in the kitchen or bathroom while I shower, she can sit in that.

Don’t buy the SNOO. You can rent it month to month for much cheaper and if your baby doesn’t take to it, you will have only paid for that month. Also, it does have two features in the app that control the speed. There is one that will keep the baby at one speed only if you like (like cruise control) and then there is a feature that limits the motion to the first 3 speeds. After that, it won’t move any faster.

Had a jogging stroller for my first one barely used it. Didn't use one for my second and won't for my third, using a carrier was so much easier. Also never needed a swing or rocking bassinet. My approach was always pretty minimal to this, for me all baby needs is really a place to sleep and mama.

Love the Graco Simple Sway swing. When i was a nanny to a baby, it saved my sanity. Now that i have my own baby, it was the first thing i put on my registry and we've already used it a few times (though it will fit a bit better when she's more than a month old).

We liked the snoo, however we knew better and RENTED it instead of purchasing. And yes, the settings are adjustable if you use the bed in the conjunction with the app. But of course, all babies are different. It worked with our baby to the point that he ended up needing a helmet. He is now 19 months and has no trouble at all sleeping through the night in his crib.

Yes the mamaroo is one we regret too. We got the 4moms pack in play with bassinet. They have a newer one that the bassinet is larger I wish that one was available at the time because he outgrew the bassinet so fast (he was 21.5” long at birth). He hated sleeping in the pack and play though but we did use that for play. Also it was hard for me to reach in to grab him (I’m short). This time we are buying the nestig bassinet to crib conversion because the bed is longer so he can stay in their longer then convert to crib once he starts rolling over. If you find a swing you like please share.

I agree with the size and heaviness of the Snoo but it definitely should be used right as the baby gets home. I've heard so many stories of parents who have bought it weeks after out of desperation but by then the baby has learned to sleep elsewhere. It's a real hard transition if you don't have one ready for your first night at home. I borrowed it from my sister during my first pregnancy, no problems. I bought one for myself for this upcoming baby, so it's ready to go!
