As a number one option I can see it because in Philly he averaged 17.5 his two years their and he wasn’t the number one or two option but he was definitely vital in that offense the way they used him.
The problem is now he’d be the target of the defenses so that may impact how effective he is and also JJ reddick was a very underrated mid range shooter too. I can easily see at worst 20 ppg and at best 27 ppg

People forget JJ averaged 17ppg on 42% from 3 and 18ppg on 40% from 3 in back to back years (he was 33 and 34). He shot 42% from 3 for his career attempting 5 3s a game. Yeah bur that Philly team was stacked. The amount of defensive attention he got and the good looks he got due to Embiid’s presence along with Butler and Ben was insane.
And that 18 a game wasn’t for his whole career either. JJ averaged over 15 a game in his 8th year and he wasn’t ridiculously efficient from 3 until 2015, his 2nd year with CP and the lob city squad. While I do believe he would score 20 a season, he’s not going over 20 by much in my eyes because if he was a 20 a game guy, he would be much more heavily guarded which would lead to a drop in his efficiency and the more threes you take, the less efficient you become in general. The 6 attempts a game he got between 2015 and 2020 were all quality looks. There weren’t many last second chucked threes or them forcing JJ to shoot much. With an increase in volume, we would have seen more defensive attention in this era and the efficiency wouldn’t be as good. If you think JJ’s still shooting nearly 48% from 3, like he did in 2016, with 12-13 attempts rather than 5-6 a game, you’re crazy

When you have defenses keying on you every game this is a prerequisite. Another factor is volume, JJ Reddick was not a volume scorer, so he would have to get those points efficiently as a number 1. As a third option these limitations wouldn't play a factor. The reason he averaged 18ppg in Philly is because he was the 3rd option and benefited from the space created for him and the fact he didn't have to score from every area of the court

JJ isn't just a catch and shoot guy, he can create for himself. It's just some systems don't made him fluorish. In SVG's system, everything runs through the bigs. JJ would never get the ball because the Offense ran through Jameer Nelson and Dwight Howard. Went to the Clippers, spent most of his prime there. Fluorished there, but as a role player. In Philly, they used him the way the Warriors used Klay on offense, hence JJ averaged his career high in points.

I agree with Crawford. Many times before 2012ish , non athletic guards were relegated to being spot up shooters. Other than teams like the spurs or early-mid 2000s pistons, teams were only using shooters as guys you kick it out to from the post or after the star players drives in and kicks it out
