Upon hearing Ween’s underwater concept album, he was galvanised. Shortly after The Mollusk was released, he contacted the band, and discussed the basic ideas for the show with them, as well as requesting a song to be made for the show. The song became ‘Loop de Loop’, an instruction on how to tie shoelaces that featured in the episode ‘Your Shoe’s Untied’."

I love how much you liked Captain and I Don’t Want It! They’re very underrated tracks.
My favorite part about Ween is just how much they don’t care lol. They just make whatever kind of stupid track they want followed by an atmospheric masterpiece.
Definitely try The Mollusk from Ween as well!

IMO I dont want it is slept on so hard, its such a powerfully emotive song and one of my favorite examples to bring up when i encounter someone being dismissive of ween and the insane talent the whole band has. deaners guitar skills, geners wild vocal range and incredible songwriting, Claude's a fuckin machine on the drums and glen and dave are great too lol.

This album was written during one half of the duo's divorce. It's quite personal, The Mollusk is my personal favorite Ween album, but it's not too serious. Ween can get really weird and experimental sometimes, The Pod is absolutely crazy.

    • @rozbot86

An ex-girlfriend introduced me to Ween. She gave me every single album. I had heard a few tracks like Push the Little Daisies and Voodoo Lady, but the first album that I put in my car and listened to the entire album was The Pod. It was a great place to start because it set my expectations low for the rest of my experience with the band. However, I absolutely love that album to this day and it is one of my favorites.

Honestly, I feel like the theme of this album is about mental illness and what it actually means to be happy/sad. In a world where no one wants to be genuine about their emotions, we seek happiness through drugs, shallow romance, and doing all we can to ignore the impending anxiety we feel. This album pokes fun at the absurdity of that through the wacky instrumentation. Meanwhile, it speaks about the harsh reality of the situation through the lyrics, from the perspective of many different characters, which represent different parts of our mind. I could be wrong, but that's how I've always interpreted it.

You are opening a door you will gladly jump right into. Starting at the back end of their catalog gives a great showing of their awesome trajectory as a one of a kind band, and one of the better bands touring at the moment ( flying out to see their shows in Minneapolis and Chicago this weekend from Toronto) and if you get a chance go watch them live and you’ll see why they are beloved by their fans.

Another awesome reaction man, and as a lot of the comments seem to be echoing I also highly reccomend The Mollusk by Ween. I love Ween but the Mollusk is on another level for me. Also yeah Spongebob definitely took influences from the Mollusk and had a couple references to the album in some early episodes I believe. This is great in so many ways. First, I have to say, I'm glad that you get it. When I try to express my love of ween to people, They're trying to hear the music, but ween is art! In-between music and theater in my opinion. I love watching ween reaction videos. People get caught way off guard. And you had the most pure reaction I've seen yet.
I personally feel like "the fucked jam" was the original Rick roll song. A near perfect album, and these guys threw that in to fuck with the fans. Hilarious!
Ween has said that not all of there songs mean anything. You make what you make of it as a listener. To be fair, lots of their nonsense songs were written under the influence of x,y, or z. I loved hearing your take on these songs.
These 2 dopes literally saved my life over some hard times.
My recommendation is for the live in Chicago DVD. Hear me out. I know you only have done audio, but watch this infamous DVD while reacting. Would love to see that. But there is an album from that show aswell.
I've liked and subscribed. I watched some of your other reviews and genuinely enjoy them. Keep up the great content.
Live ween is sex/god/bliss. I'll be seeing them 3 times this week in NY, RI, NH. Can't wait!

It would be really nice for you to react to some latin american music. I have some really great albums to request:
Charly García - Clics Modernos (this a 10/10 for me)
    Seru Giran - Peperina
    Gustavo Cerati - Bocanada

Underneath all the weirdness, Ween works because of their incredible gift for melody. Sometimes painfully sweet.

@32:05 The song The Argus is based off of or at least inspired somewhat by the greek myth of Argus Panoptes (argus the all-seeing)

Ween Live in Chicago is one of their best shows and has a great variety of there songs. I like some live versions better, but it was during the writing of this album… check it out! Link. th-cam.com/video/J-Iqy-DNF7A/w-d-xo.htmlsi=5qdoipBfFlMirOLg

Absolutely check out the mollusk. It's not quite as emotionally impactful but sonically it's a 10/10. If you can stomach the weirdness and a couple arguably somewhat problematic tracks then I also recommend chocolate and cheese.

@@vivimos_en_una_sociedad7758 I just like the warn people when an album has a joke track how about a child dying of spinal meningitis, a song called the HIV song, and a few songs with fake accents. Always great to see someone discover Ween. My favorite band of course. Your reaction is hands down my favorite so far and I've watched MANY lol. You seem to kind of "get it" and are realizing you're at the beginning of a deep rabbit hole with Ween. Hopefully you do more albums especially "The Mollusk" and "Chocolate and Cheese"! Great video man and you gained a new subscriber!
