The greatest flaw in Child Protective services is that in cases like this, they do more harm than good, and with zero accountability to the people they've harmed. I don't care how rare it is, because once is too much. It is simply unjust.

    • @JasonGroom

Child services does not remove kids for a story told by one kid at school. It might start an investigation, but that's it. There was other evidence. It is horrible, but I would rather see a child removed by mistake on rate occasions than I would see one left in dangerous situations and end up hurt or worse

Exactly, child services is about the most underfunded organization out there. Something like this without any other evidence doesn't result in an emergency removal, there is an investigation. Even if they are removed for emergency reasons, as soon as the investigation is done, if no other evidence is there, they are returned, usually the initial investigation is a couple days. There is more to this story than just a kid with an imagination

TALKING FROM EXPERIENCE ..... That creepy feeling of a knock on the door is so typical. When they come to your home it's like having to invite and play host to a snake. They have been forcibly inspected your home and have over analysed every little move or word you have uttered to them. The feeling never really leaves but it can get easyer. Much love and hope the Glassbrook family.

I've seen foster kids ripped from a home because one very troubled child made false accusations all because she didn't want to abide by the rules of the home. No one took the mom seriously when she told them that this girl needs professional help but the moment she made the accusations they were there within minutes. Although all were unfounded the damage was already done they would not give the mom any more kids. Problem is she wasn't getting paid to do this but the treatment is horrible.

TO ALL THE DOUBTING THOMAS'S, BOG OFF. Please don't listen to some of the comments here. Their are many people in a state of stupid denial that it couldnt happen to them. Thank you for your bravery in sharing your pain.
Child services have a duty to act first, then investigate. Act first means removal, then investigation is returning them home.
This happens, so many times. People don't talk about it because of the stigma. Many family's are just too smashed up and broken down by the experience to ask for support or help afterwards.
I am very disappointed at many peoples reactions to the old no smoke without fire. Abusive relationships and family's are hidden in plane sight, they are our friends, family's and neighbors. Bet you people who point to this family's experience, then have made harsh judgement, are the same ones who don't see what's happening to the kids next door either.
