I really enjoy these teardown videos, and when I needed an electronics toolkit last week, I was proud to buy your brand and in a small way support the efforts of this channel. The kit is awesome and the magnetic case is a great touch.
“The back panel is easier to remove than other phones and can be removed easily with this heat applied” “Yeah the back is really hard to remove and you have to remove it to fix stuff so 4/10”
You can easily replace the screen by a) using heat and proper tools like a suction cup / card b) remove the bottom 3 screws on the MoBo and gently pushing it inward to allow the ribbon cable to escape through the side of the frame. Maybe 10 minutes start to finish once you have done it once.
How about making & posting longer versions of the short version overview vids and putting the link to that in the description? Good work though, liked the observation on the wide angle lens picture quality at 0:59.
I sent in my Pixel 4 XL to change battery and when it came back the rear cameras didn't work, has anyone a good idea what could have happened? Maybe something got loose?
Even the repairability is worse than before... on the Pixel 3 repairing the Display was much easier because that was the Part you have to remove at first. Now they're doing it as stupid as Samsung and almost all other manufacturers except Apple... And being able to repair the display is MUCH more important than the glass back.
I haven't seen any evidence that this makes a phone more fragile. In the tests I've seen where people bent phones, sometimes breaking the frame, that didn't make the phone not work. Edit: the Pixel 3a is an example of a phone that bends a lot with no damage.
Love the close ups and clarity but could you guys not cut out the screw being removed? Many come to see what screw goes where , you give a nice close up of the head but people need to see the shaft lenght and size or if there a standoff point ect
I still doesn't understand how sturburn are ifixt to give low scores of repairbillity because of waterproofing, how do you spect to reach that level of waterproofing with out sealing the phone, at least like in the iPhone 11 everything is modular and you don't even mention it
This score doesn't seem fair, it isn't a Lego construction, and it has lots of modular parts. And for the battery pull tabs, come-on, they could have been weak on that specific phone, and anyway if you have to change the battery who cares if you have to put some strength, as long as it isn't pierced or treated by a dumb person it isn't a bomb
I wish I could see their rankings of just IP68 water resistant phones. Because I want that, and I'm okay with that making repairability harder, and what I really want is to see how those compare to each other.
This was a beautiful review and an advertisement for the phone please dont call it a guide or a tutorial , it's an insult to anyone who ever made a tutorial to label this as such. Thank you.
I take issue with the low score. You make good fixer kits but seriously a 4/10 because the phone is solidly built? Of course it needs a heat gun to take apart, it's glued shut so it doesn't come apart easily. iFixit score I guess is inversely proportional to build quality
Well, the problem with gluing is that one wrong application of pressure at a pint with the glue hardening back after taking th heat off and you risk cracking a glass back panel or in some phones the display. But unfortunately glueing has become necessary for waterproofing/resistance.
Is it easy to replace the battery? Mine shuts off when I let go of the power button. It happened after a slight drop. Previously battery percentage would stay stuck on either 50% or 100%

As a Senior Cit who also enjoys being a retired computer engineer suffering from hearing loss due to noisy computing environments, I really do wish you'd use somewhat slower English-speaking-in-an-other-than-squeeky-supersonic-mode so that I'd be able to actually interpret the occasional word ... And - hey - there's a laff! I've just read Robert Prejs post below!
Motion Sense? Are you kdding me? Is this supposed to be something new? My fucking Samsung S3 in 2012 had this feature already.... this may be the most underwhelming phone i have ever seen. Even a S Model in iPhones brings more innovation than this thing

I would like you to be my Siri voice.
Everybody would want Zack's voice, don't try to..... To... Just dont
“The back panel is easier to remove than other phones and can be removed easily with this heat applied”
“Yeah the back is really hard to remove and you have to remove it to fix stuff so 4/10”
I was really hoping I could fix everything about this phone without having to open it. Bummer.
Relative ease doesnt mean it cant be better.
Seeing insides before jerryrigeverything upload his video version

is it easy to replace the battery in pixel 4 xl?
@@jerrywilson452 very easy
@@jerrywilson452 use dabs of rubbing alcohol to loosen the battery adhesive
No one mentions the three different length screws. I put them all in the same cup before I noticed.

The score is repairability not how fragile it is, so the back being glass shouldn't count toward it
Hmm. Looks like Google got rid of the fingerprint scanner as well. Why didn't they do a Samsung and use an in display fingerprint scanner?
I sent in my Pixel 4 XL to change battery and when it came back the rear cameras didn't work, has anyone a good idea what could have happened? Maybe something got loose?

Long and thin motherboard, fragile because if the phone bends just a little, it will bend the board too.

thelifeofpatricio and this fone is 4 because is glass in the front and back '?' They just want to give low score for whoever they want
junior212136 you can’t take off the back becuase the glass is permantly glued, so you need a heat gun
@@jli8225 well of course you need a tool to remove it, you don't go to remove a head from an engine with you hands right?
Engine's aren't welded shut, are they?
@@jli8225 techniclly it's not welded it shut, it's just glue on, and like my previous statement you need glue for water proof
3:00 the battery pull-tabs are crap and so it the adhesive holding the battery in place. Adhesive too secure, pull tabs too fragile
This score doesn't seem fair, it isn't a Lego construction, and it has lots of modular parts. Big question time. Is it possible to fit a larger capacity battery in there? That would be super compelling.
you removed the display quite easily! the score should be 6 at least....

Can you do a teardown of the librem 5?
Technically it's still not in production, not until Q2 2020 apparently.

Thank you for the knowledge expansion

wide-angle? really? so, this is the reason that Google doesn't include a wide-angle dual camera setup and just using a telephoto one.
I believe the reviewers are complaining about not having ULTRA-wide angle camera on Pixel 4.
Can i please get the name of music in background ??
It's soothing
can i remove the cover and remove only the battery so that the whole phone does not collapse? Please help me
audiomix service wakelock on my pixel 4xl on andriud 13, i'em downgrade rom on 12 but phone still not get deep sleep

It's too short... Please be slow and be clear
Can I remove 128gb memory and put it in a 64 GB pixel 4 XL. Both phones are the same
What is name of background music ?🤔🤔🤔
Google’s facial unlock is not secured as Apple Facial unlock.

Go to nearest samsung store
There is no such a camera called WIDE ANGLE camera in Pixel 4/Pixel 4xl
Iron Man they usually call that an ultra wide camera, and the main camera is also known as the standard wide angle
🙄🙄🙄🙄
Iron Man 🤳🏼🍼🥄🥇🏆🎻
It is actually written on the camera itself. Call it what you want.
I'm watching this on my pixel 4 XL
man I'm sorry :) jk good for you
Pixel 4 doesn’t come with wide angle lens!?
It doesn't come with ultra wide lens, it does have wide lens now
Put another radar in the chin so we can do more than just switching in between songs.

It doesn't have Wide angel camera
"wide" for photography can be anything < 50mm

Will you teardown the smaller pixel4, not the xl?
