- Making FREE filament from recycled PET Plastic Bottles! In this video, I discuss the two methods that I use to color my clear PET plastic bottles. The first involves using permanent markers, and the second involves a dye made specifically for polyethylene that is available on Amazon.

New subscriber, looking forward for new videos. Will there be printing and setting slicer guide?
Eventually yes. I’ll have videos about printer mods and requirements for printing with PET and I’ll probably also discuss slicer settings. I use Cura which if fairly popular. And thanks for being a subscriber!
For coloring strips with markers, you can make a jig to run the strip through while you hold the marker in place. I have a print video for one such design but it could be improved a lot to hold the marker itself. th-cam.com/users/shortsTvU09Qeq64A
I’ve tried that too. But since I use every bit of the bottle, the top part comes out curly like a ‘pig tail’ or cork screw and a jig just doesn’t hold it down well. I just put down a couple sheets of newspaper and then clamp a couple long, thin sections of wood down about 2 feet apart. Then just slide the ribbon under that and Mark Away! If the ribbon was all flat and straight, then a jig that holds a couple markers in place while you pull the ribbon would be fine. Just wasn’t practical in my case.
