- This 1985 classic blazed through the Astrodome, just like its hot fiddle. George and Gene (Elders) know how to rock a honkytonk and arena.
This one was written by Mack Vickery and Wayne Kemp. It was released as a single in 1985 from his "Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind" album of the previous year.

I had the privilege of seeing him live in concert 3 times. From 1985 to 2010. No difference. The show was awesome.
I’ve seen him 8 times, I think he’s gets better & better with age! First time was the early 80s, last time was in Vegas!🤩

George is so.versatile. He can sing upbeat like this one and lower it down whenever he feels like it. Hence why he's THE best country singer of all time and it aint even close.
It's closer than you might think. Around 1990 there was a great country singer named Wyatt 'Dusty' Chandler. He burst onto the country music scene with his debut album, Pure Country, it was a huge success. Anyways, he was right there with George on talent, he just wasn't around long. ;-) But for real I agree with you 100%. Four decades in the industry, a consummate professional, never had any scandals or arrests or rehab. Just keeps on churning out great country music.
Rumor is, Dusty got sick of the lights one day, and rode off to some ranch in Texas.

There is only one thing I can say about Gene Elders....He's the Fireman of fiddle players. I think they have to fire proof the strings on his fiddle or else the bow would surely cause a fire!
