  • A dramatic and explosive ending to a very desperately fought battle! Reading accounts of Waterloo, you learn how everybody was pushed to the extreme, and thoroughly exhausted by their efforts at day's end. This battle felt exactly like that. Both the Allied and French armies were one unit away from breaking before one side broke and ran.

    I love that artillery effect!
Exciting battle. I never thought of defending further back with the Brits. It makes sense.

The nice thing about that effect is that it shows who is firing/combatting.
Wellington was putting himself between The French army and Brussels, but the British army was what the French were after. IOW, they wouldn't march past his army.
Another point worth making, is that it doesn't guarantee a British victory. Even if the IV Cavalry Corps hadn't snuck through the woods, all either side had to do was destroy one unit. Interesting note, The French had lost way more points than the Brits, with heavy guard and cavalry losses. Another reason they HAD to win.
Very tense, indeed. The way Waterloo should feel!
