    That fact of the matter is these coaches didn't want the players to get anything at 1st. Jim Harbaugh was the only advocate for them. Once, the coaches couldn't stop NIL that's when they all jumped on board. So don't make it seem like they were, when they weren't Saban included

      Lies the NCAA told Saban the players could earn money off their Name Image and likeness. They didn’t say now teams who can recruit get to just buy the player other teams successfully recruited. Saban built his program around developing players to be able to create value for themselves which coincideds with what NIL was supposed be. Saban said 3 years ago that this is what it would become. Pay for play. No education, no personal development.

For the trained eyes like me I saw and admission of guilt because saban called him out. See Saban said jimbo bought every player because that’s what actually happened. Jimbo brought forth allegations with no facts because it wasn’t true. If what jimbo was hinting at was true he would’ve said so because they asked him to state facts off the record and he declined. I went to camp twice at LSU back when jimbo and saban was there I didn’t see any fraudulent activity. But I did at other places. Texas tech camp a guy offered Vince young a boat load of money. However, I coached college football so when I say the coaches in college football know they know. What he did was over recruited after his 1st season kept all the best players and grey shirted all the players from his 7-6 team & shipped them off to other schools. They didn't have to sat out because of the grey shirt which made them eligible immediately. So he was using the transfer portal before the transfer portal & we all know it.

Like I visited West Virginia back when they had pat white and Steve slayton. Both guys drive Toyota sequoias. They had a duplex and never went to class. So players definitely got different perks and each college. At bama there’s a ton of eyes and enemies out there trying to find dirt or create dirt. Saban had to run a clean program because of that. Yeah the players got perks within the minor infraction guidelines of course. Like the cars athletes drive the NCAA cant report it if it’s leased there’s little loopholes like that. Or players working summer jobs like at the university of Kentucky the football players worked at the golf courses and auto companies. Getting 500 a week no matter if they came to work or not. Saban is just talking about the fact that EDUCATION was once the primary catalyst for college athletics. Now its all about how much are you gonna pay me, when they have never played a down in college football. In the majority of cases the kid is never gonna play in college yet the NIL is on the hook for the money promised that kid. Then they are demanding money without any contractual commitment whatsoever. No where in the world does that ever happen. Structure is understandable, but what's good for the goose is good for the gander. If they want to put a cap on NIL then put a cap on these coaches salaries. If they want players to have to sign a contract that prevents them to leave a university then the coaches have to sign the same thing too. Also they push this narrative of how a degree is worth so much, which is a lie. All degrees aren't created equal and plus there are so many people in America with degrees who aren't earning much and are in student loan debt. Saban has always did what was best for him and didn't care how if effected his former players at Michigan St and LSU. Well it's the players turn now. Free enterprise!

    • @justincolvin6712
      @justincolvin6712 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Coaches do have rules for leaving, its called a buyout. Players, who are not under a contract need that. They also should have the same thing. I also think you should reconsider the value of the education. While not all are created equal, we all have to agree that it is a value given to a player. How they come up with totals is beyond me. I imagine its got a lot more in it than just the cost of education for an athlete. This is the problem with saying they never got paid, technically what they did was transactional. That being said nobody should ever be told you cant make money off their likeness. I think the rule that needs to change to fix this is the transfer rule. Make it sit out a year like it was and that should slow things down a bit. I also imagine tampering is running rampant right now. Thats another problem.

    Good to hear real talk, bottom line talk. The backlash is just people that hate Saban, hate Alabama and are against ANYTHING that Saban says. In reality, and I've talked to people that criticized Saban, that told me they actually agreed with everything that he laid out. When folks personal feelings get into the way of what's right that's when problems show themselves. When your hatred blinds you from listening to reason, that's what causes problems. In a broader spectrum, that is what's wrong with America. People's hatred of a party or a person blinds them from listening and following what's right. There should have been thousands upon thousands that said yes Coach Saban, we are behind you, we agree. Instead, their blind hatred of all things Alabama got in the way of fixing this issue. Saban was saying the things that made college football great have gone away. He is not wrong and even the Bama haters out there will....secretly...admit he is right.

    Most people do not understand NIL. This is supposed to be amateur sports. DI major college sports program are subsidizing professional leagues like the NFL, NBA, and WNBA (a league that has never made a profit). I agree. Professional athletes should be paid, but not through a phony "student-athlete" program. The NFL and NBA can fund their own minor league programs, just like baseball. Hocky can do the same.
    There are current female athletes selling themselves on Only Fans. There is already issues with that. The LSU gymnast is not selling her athletic ability. If you believe that, you are naive.
    Why should Iowa's Clark be given an athletic scholarship while making over $4 million? She has teammates that are walk-ons getting nothing from NIL or the school.
    D3 is the way college sports are supposed to be. The problem with D3 is the schools are very expensive. The good news is D3 athletes have more academic talent than D1 athletes and become productive members of society after college. That's what we need out of colleges.

    The system is broken and there is really no rehabilitation. College is now semi-pro for football and basketball. The question the universities have to ask themselves and find an answer to is this. Do universities want to 'hire' a semi-pro athletic program (similar in concept to sponsoring/funding a minor league baseball team) or do they want to limit their involvement in the major sports and return to education only? First of all, student athletes can chase the highest pay as it stands now. Second, 75% of athletes who are earning $75,000, or more, are unlikely to take classes seriously. Actual learning will disappear. 3) Scholarships are not taxable. NIL money is taxed which means accurate record keeping is a must, IRS filing every year, and payments. Agents are going to be required or very desirable to keep the finances straight and acquire more revenue. The agents are going to be another source of corruption and complication to an already confused system. Then there is gambling. Going to be almost impossible to prevent cheating scandals, WHICH IS CRIMINAL.

    The players are not receiving a share of football revenue as they should. NIL is a separate revenue stream for players. The universities and administrators are making millions from TV contracts. The players are the product and retain all physical risk. Saban is upset NIL allows for a distribution of talent. He probably prefers the days without the 85 scholarship limits as well. Make it an emphasis of higher learning - after all, these are college institutions. They are STUDENT-athletes. if being paid as an employee, make it performance based (both athletic & scholar). While you're at it, make coaches contracts/salaries performance based too. I think the astronomical always climbing coaches salaries is what has brought on much of the want/desire of players to be paid too & get a "piece of the pie" from the tv revenue. Instead of saying we will pay a QB $1.5m to come play for our school....say we will pay "up to" $1.5mil and if your performance (athletic & scholar) rises, you will get the full 1.5mil. If not, it will be a % of it, based on "performance". This will cause everyone to play better and do better in school. That is how you "develop" them into productive adults post college.

    Asking for money before they've 'done anything', isn't the 'real world' - yes it is, in the real world, hyper rare skill sets are always paid a premium. Also NEED gets paid a premium- if the Job needs the Employee, more than the Employee needs the job, guess who has leverage. And which one of use wouldn't use that leverage. All collective bargaining does is put control back in the coaches hands, thats why they really crying...loss of control
