    I was asked to model a lobster in Tinkercad to show how to model organic shapes. Enjoy!
    Be warned, this video is pretty long. I won't be upset if you can't last the whole time.

    No you didn't go too fast. That was pretty good. I've been using the basic tools and using the drawing tool to shape objects and cutouts. I didn't know what the extrusion tool was. Thanks and keep making more tutorials, it gives us new ideas with the same tools we didn't think of.

      When I found out about it, it completely changed my attitude about Tinkercad. Nothing's impossible. Anything can be modeled. Now it's just a big puzzle trying to figure how to do it.

      That's one thing I haven't been able to accomplish yet in Tinkercad. While it's possible to soften/bevel straight edges, curves are much more difficult, if not impossible.
      I'd love to see a "chamfer" or "fillet" option in Tinkercad.

      If you haven't got too many to think about, you could just create some "tools" to do that. an inverse arch for example, then just keep duplicating that, and laying it over the corner you want to cut off, then SNIP (

    Thanks for the great video. Can you explain the options on the Extrusion control? There are the square points that control the position and the round points that affect how the line intersects the position, correct? Is there any way to add more square points to allow more dynamic shapes to be created?

    • @CUGLabs
      @CUGLabs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      My pleasure. You've got it right, square controls position and the round points affect what's called the tangent line. Imagine that on each square point there was an imaginary circle and the line ran tangent to that circle. The longer the line, the bigger the circle, and the shorter the line the smaller the circle. That is how the line lengths affect that curve attached to that specific point.
      Also, to my knowledge, there is no way to add more square points. The best tip I can give you is to bundle together a couple different extrusions to make your more dynamic shapes.

    Challenge: Try creating abstract sculptures/models using irregular geometric shapes, those of which include: circles, ovals, squares, etc. If possible, I'd like you to use the extrusion tool as well. There's an abstract painting I find amusing, and if you were to recreate it, I'd certainly be impressed. I don't think it is possible given Tinkercad's own limitations, however. Either way, I'd like you to make the cover of the following album: Everywhere at the End of Time (Stage 5).

    Any suggestions on how to adjust the extrusion on iPad? I can highlight the dots but can't move them!
