    Having studied nutrition for over 2 decades now, and reading "100's of pounds" of books, among the many things I've learned is that there are plenty of "experts" out there (scientists, book authors, impressive resumes) who have different opinions about the same thing. She likes to eat eggs, ham, cheese, yogurt ... all foods slammed by other "experts" for various reasons. You have to do what makes sense to YOU and never expect to find perfection.

    But all the old people I've ever known ate bacon and eggs for breakfast with tea...
    Cheese and chutney sandwich for lunch... not supermarket bread from today, but the real thing from an old style baker...
    In the evening.... home grown vegetables, old style pork chops or chicken or mackerel or lamb chops or butcher made sausages or fresh herrings or sardines or beef with kidney. .. 😅
    Result is this... all these old people are still alive and slim.....
    I am sure this lady means well. But it's simple: no processed food . It is that simple. 😅

      Yep, that follows her plan. Protein brekkie, not a lot of sugar in that days food.
      Super high processed crap n sugar is what's creating all this mess of heart disease, diabetes, cancer's, etc etc.
      It's recordable, easily charted, the evidence is plain to see if you research it.
      Eat food you recognise as food.
      If your granny doesn't recognise it, don't eat it .

    How work this sugar theory for athletes? ATHLETES AND SUGAR?

    • @lisabaughn
      @lisabaughn 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have a resistance training and Tae Bo kickboxing regimen and for me the sugars from fruit and healthy carbs are essential to making it through my extensive workouts and keeping my energy high. I also do a lot of protein which makes it necessary to pay very close attention to healthy carbs and fruit, otherwise I turn into a narcoleptic lol! This excessive attention on sugar and lack of separation between various sources of sugar benefits her book sales more than it benefits an athlete's health. Fruit is a good thing and most Americans do not get enough of it.

    As someone who works out a lot I think GG gives bad advice. Lots of protein along with healthy carbs and fruit is what grows my muscles, strength and energy, in addition to resistance training and Tae Bo kickboxing. The right exercise program means you don't have to obsess about food like she is asking you to. Deep in our hearts we know the rules - exercise and be reasonable with food. Her stuff is just not very helpful IMO.

      I think she is qualified to give advice. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from King's College, London and a Master of Science in Biochemistry from Georgetown University. I would say she is very modest and also a good communicator. I would recommend reading her book, titled: Glucose Revolution. All the best.

    • @sur6246
      @sur6246 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It may be a simple thing, but how many of us follow eating habits to deliberately lower glucose spikes? Eating our veggies first, protein next, and carbs last - is not intuitive or easy. It takes conscious effort. If you read her book, she shows graphs of insulin spikes after various food behaviors. I woke today, had steamed spinach and radish, then a boiled egg, then a steamed potato. I switched back to organic milk in my coffee and tossed out the oat milk which was giving me gum infections. I had no idea oat milk was the same as eating sugar until i read her book. I have tons more energy without crashes. There are many different views about health. Find the one that best works for you. :)

    • @sur6246
      @sur6246 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you can skip these go ahead but she is recognizing most people need a variety of foods. She is suggesting how to lower the insulin spike if you choose to eat these fun foods. Of course it’s better to avoid the sugar if you have the willpower. She’s not perfect…she eats processed foods like ham. Author of Ultra Processed People convinces me to avoid processed foods. So draw from everyone and find what works best. I am giving her food order method a try. So far, feeling more energy without crashes, dropping weight. It is a bit of effort starting every meal with veggies but if it helps avoid type 2 diabetes I am very ok with making the change.
