I've been diagnosed with stage5 . Gfr of 7. I live in south africa. Doctors dnt treat my condition as urgent and say that a person can live well with a gfr of 2. I'm not well. Most Doctors know very little about renal health. I have used only your advice so far to stay alive. Thank you

At my age, I am concerned about heavy oxalates in plants, and correct dumping of these oxalates out of the body. In my case I use citrates of minerals to balance this concern. Thoroughly enjoy the expertise, and narratives to add to my own knowledge! Thank you! Respect!

2 questions: 1) how to be not starving on a whole food plant based diet. 2) How do I find a plant based dietician

Great questions! 1. You need to ensure adequate calories while on a plant based diet. Healthy fats (avocado, nuts, seeds, olive oil, avocado oil). Also big enough portions and getting enough fiber which will increase satiety with meals. 2. Michele has a resource page on her website to help find a renal dietitian: plantbasedkidneys.com/resources/#dietitian You can also check out the NKF CKD Database: sites.google.com/view/ckdrd/home

Hello across the world! Our episode next week is on treating protein in the urine. So stay tuned for that. But definitely discuss that with your nephrologist!

Hello! Highly recommend working 1:1 with a specialized renal dietitian that can tailor a kidney protective, plant based diet for IBS. Michele has resources on her website for dietitians! plantbasedkidneys.com/resources/#dietitian
