As a former Royal Engineers officer, let me just correct you on one small detail regarding Chard. Lt Chard was indeed in command but he wasn't there to build a bridge, he was overseeing the ferrying of some equipment over the river by raft. With him was Driver Robson, the only other Royal Engineer present. They had a lucky escape as the other members of their field company were all killed at Isandlawana. A nice looking game, thanks for keeping the history alive
This will be a fun game with your Dad. I like the way you have created a ledge of terrain for the buildings which was a key factor in raising the height of the defences.
Hi Drew, very impressed with your set up and I am about to embark on the same project. Can you please advise the base sizes you used for both Brits and Zulu. Regards Keith
0.28 I can see my old flat from when I was at Glasgow uni xD. Fantastic minis man they look incredible. Looking to start some colonial stuff is warlord my best bet?
Hi mate! Thanks so much. Warlord is a good place to start for lots of colonial periods. I also like Victrix and Empress. Which period you looking for specifically?
Great work bud - love it. As a kid I lived in Durban in South Africa when my dad had a job out there so there was a lot of history re this action and others to be lapped up and a local museum. Rorke's Drift itself is a hauntingly beautiful place too. Nice video though...what manufacturers models have you used? I've been painting som of the Warlord Zulus and have some Foundry & Perry Brits in the "to do" queue. Subbed!
Thanks so much! So cool you lived out there, some good videos of RD as it is now online but really keen for a visit one day. My models are mostly Warlord with some Empress Minis thrown in

Thanks Ralph. I did a fair bit of planning using the maps from various books. Got the boards laser cut to get it as accurate as I could
Lovely army, and really like what you've done with the videos by adding a bit of history.

@@Drewheed1 I am a bit conflicted to be honest. Its between the Anglo Zulu war and the Mahdist revolt.
Something’s missing… can’t quite put my finger on it… oh wait, ZULUs!!!!

Brilliant update, cracking job on the figures and terrain
Thanks mate
Read 'Black as hell and thick as grass', excellent book.
Just a question, I hear about war gaming, what is it? Is it a game, I don't really understand how to play it
Aye so it’s a strategy game played with dice. You move units around the table and give them orders. Rounds are movement, shooting and hand to hand
@@Drewheed1 Where can I find the rules and how to play
@@Kachina74 the ruleset is called Black Powder, sold by Warlord Games
