    ⭐️ whichever period you choose to dive into the combination of the passion in your research and the way you base and paint the figures always brings about an excellent result with this project being no exception…..being able to follow these projects is an inspiration in itself ⭐️ 👍

    Really loving how these look, think you're getting this project just right visually, the worn British uniforms are spot on. Secret Weapon Terracotta Earth is (was) my favourite pigment ever I think, still not been able to find an exact match since they went out of business, but that's probably from buying online, need to get in a hobby shop and look at some alternative ranges.

      I didn't even realise they were out of business, I've had this pigment kicking about for ages.
      Glad you like it buddy, it was a few test minis before I settled on the look but I'm pleased with the one I went with 👍

    Once again an excellent video Martin ..thank you.
    The basing is amazing and so relevant to me at the moment with my African project, the red earth in africa continues north until you hit the huge forests. In Southern Congo its very similar, I use Tetrion as a base then paint with Vallejo Brown Sand to give the right base. Then add a light cover of summer flock and winter tufts, occasional rocks etc.

    • @7thson726
      @7thson726  ปีที่แล้ว

      That sounds great, I find little details like that help make the project more personal rather than being restrained by what's available 👍

    Very nice. Did an AZ project myself a few years ago and I always play with The Men Who Would Be Kings, which always seem to play fairly well. One thing you could do to add some flavour to Black Powder is once everyone is deployed, roll for Zulu each unit/brigade and a success allows them to start x inches closer to the enemy. Just to represent their ability to surprise the Brits and get a a bit closer without being seen. Gives the Brits less time to gun them down and the Zulus more chance of getting into combat where they have a chance of winning. Have to say I haven’t tried this but occurred to me while watching your video and will probably give it a go next time I play. 👍

    Durnfords cavalry, mounted NNC or Basutoland horse and Lancers will add some colour/character. We play TFL Sharp Practice as a skirmish game, of The Men Who Would Be Kings- you could play those with your units based for BP but don’t worry about the figures on the base just use a unit value- that works really well for ZuluWars.

    Terrific update Martin. I'm not much in to the colonial period, in fact it makes me rather uncomfortable. Although, "Redcoat History" podcasts & videos give a great balance to the strength & courage of the men on both sides, the political & military blunders as well. A note on the British helmets, it's my understanding the underbody of the canvas covers was of cork, so that in hot climates they could dip them in water and this would provide a cooling effect. You can well imagine the discoloration, mold & mud this would have on the white canvas coverings. Cheers for all your work.

    Nice work - including your basing - and I hope things are progressing well ...... I've run up a couple of sets of British soldiers in shirt sleeves, firing line (VLW52) and mixed in a few others, plus a little kit bashing and using figures from Perry's metal ranges covering Zulu Wars and Sudan (e.g. VLW38, SB5, 7 , 8, 9, 10, 11, 12) They work in pretty smoothly as not all troops retained puttee in camp and a little green stuff can smooth out elements where puttee are present and gaiters may be preferred. I hope this helps

    Super work and a great update.
    The washed out sun bleached uniforms look very realistic.
    I admire the thought you put in to your arrangement of figures on the bases.
    If you are likely to do another Zulu base with a dead soldier on it perhaps you could depict the custom of hlomula and have one of the Zulus stabbing the body as he passes it?

    Your British look extremely good. Please could you list the contrast paints you used or do a video tutorial on painting them? I have completed the Little Wars TV battle of Isandlwana in 6mm using Baccus figures. I am almost done with my 28mm Rorke's Drift project, just 84 Zulus to go (there will be around 400 in total and 40 British). I purchased, I think from Empress, their figures portraying the actors, Michael Caine, Stanley Baker etc as well as having the ones Warlord supply in their Rorke's Drift set, which I purchased.

    • @7thson726
      @7thson726  ปีที่แล้ว

      I will absolutely have to add in the film personalities either on their own base or scattered through others.
      I think I'm going to do a tutorial as I've been asked a fair bit but the base is blood angels red then strong tone, then I work up the highlights with evil sunz Scarlett with increasing amounts of orange 👍

    Awesome Zulus! Would it work if each little skirmished base was worth a die so a unit with 1 attached would get 1 die when shooting and 2 two dice e.t.c? It just seems like quite a nice little game mechanic though I don’t know if it would work in game or history terms...
    P.S if your going to roll for unit traits you could also roll for number of skirmish bases for a unit - 1,2 = 0 2,3 - 1, 5,6 - 2? Again just random ideas 😬
    PS. PS The Zulu player could roll for their units 'trait' at the start of the game but keep the token denoting it upside-down until melee is entered (unless it becomes applicable earlier) - that way the Zulu player knows which of their units are of a better class but the British player doesn't.
