As a retired Dispatcher, Dispatcher Trainer, Dispatcher Supervisor, Dispatch Manager and Division Manager, you hit the nail on the head with this video. Good job! Very useful information.
Thank you for this! I got a conditional offer and the very last piece of the process I have to do is the Psychological exam. Prayer for me 🙏 I know i got this!
Congratulations!! You are so welcome you got this!
@TheRaspyDispatcher I got the job and I accepted! I am relocating to that City and will start in Dec! Thank you for all your help and advice during the process. I watched all your vlogs of the application process and it certainly helped! It helped ease my mind as I went from step to step during this journey.
Any tips? I have my psych test next Thursday!
@alexciahunter6928 best of luck! Just answer them truthfully and don't overthink it. It's pretty simple strongly agree to strongly disagree bubble in questions (though it may vary depending on which job and location). It's more than 200 bubble in questions but you will start to notice its pretty easy questions overall. I think you will do great especially if you got this far already. Main thing is don't overthink it and it will be totally OK! You got this!
I am waiting to hear if I got the conditional offer!
Thank you for posting your videos 😊
I got a conditional offer so I start this process. I’m really excited
I also got the conditional offer! The Psych exam is my last piece in all of this. Best or luck to you!
Congratulations!! You are going to rock it!
I have bipolar disorder I am stable for over 10 yrs I am a 911 medical dispatcher right now EMT for 24 yrs responsible a mom and good at my job. Will this disqualify me? I am so nervous I will be honest just curious about if it will make me not eligible I’m in nj
Hey! Simply having bipolar disporder wouldnt be the disqualifer i do not recall at any part of my process having to disclose any sort of diagnosis it would just come down to getting through your psychological exams :)
Thank you for this comment!! I have bipolar as well and I’m on this step I was so nervous!
@@nyvirrgodid you pass??
Hi. Thats my next , physical aftrr my paperworks was sign hired. Just excited. Thanks for your video btw
You are so welcome and sending positive vibes as you continue through the process!
I take my psych eval TODAY‼️😬
You got this !! 💛
I have completed my background and I am waiting for them to present me to the character committee. How long after the condition offer does it take for you to do the physical and psychological exam? Also how long after taking these 2 does it take for you to start?
It depends on each agency , how fast it moves. Usually once you have a conditional offer you cleared backgrounds and it moves fairly quickly , start date as well but depends on the agency.
what's included in the physical examination? What is performed doing the physical?
Everything I know regarding the exams is covered in the video :)
All physicals are different as some are more extensive that others. When I arrived at the examination center, a nurse gave me a medical history form to fill out. She then checked my height, weight, pulse, temperature and blood pressure. I was then placed in a exam room and asked to disrobe and put on a gown. After about ten minutes the doctor, a woman, arrived and went over my medical history with me. She then proceeded to feel my neck and looked into my eyes and ears. Reflexes were checked in my legs, arms and ankles. I was then asked to close my eyes and hold my arms straight out in front of me(this is a test for tremor). My lungs were listened to. She then listened to my heart while I was sitting and on my back. Both sides of my neck were also listened to. Finally, she checked my blood pressure in both arms sitting and in my left arm standing. She removed the cuff from my arm, said everything was fine and left the room. The nurse came in and had me sign the examination results form and then told me to get dressed. The Physical was complete. I then left. I know this is a rather detailed explanation, and you may or may not have to face it. Good luck to you.
Lordd this process is so tiring. Dying to finish it. I completed my psychological test today, and all that left for me is the drug test 😩
You are so close !!!! You got this and hopefully the next step will be an offer ! 💛💛
@@TheRaspyDispatcher Finally got the full offer ❤🎉 !!
Congrats !!!!! Check out our private Facebook group let’s talk dispatch great place to ask questions during training and beyond
Thank you for the video. Do they check your social media do they log into your socials?
They certainly check your social media, I have not heard of them loging into your accounts before.
@@TheRaspyDispatcher Thank you for the response.
I am currently awaiting the date of my criticall test!!
Would a black polo be too casual for the interview? My brother has an interview in a couple of weeks.
I think a nice polo tucked in slacks and a belt combo would be just fine !
@@TheRaspyDispatcher Thanks!
As a masc lesbian, attire is always a little tricky. So a suit is not recommended? What about slacks & a dress polo?
Suits are totally fine ! You can dress down a bit at medical. But should always be business casual atleast :)
I’m on anxiety meds will that make me not qualified?
If my memory serves me correctly they don’t ask about specific questions about medications or disgnosis. I would not consider anxiety meds a disqualifying factor
It absolutely sucked for me. I applied as a Body Camera Technician. I was honest in all of my answers. Didn't get the job. I wish I could knew why. Absolutely hated the process because I really wanted the job. I never wanted anything else in my life. Not doing it again. Im done.
Ugh it really is frustrating cause you often times don't get a answer as to why and that lack of closure is hard!
@@TheRaspyDispatcher And I felt more prepared for my 911 test which I took a few days ago and still didn’t pass. I think they are just too selective or something.
It is a tough test i know pleny of folks who had to retest a few times before they passed!
@@kristianwilley7289 keep trying I tried with several like 10 if I am being honest agencies . I just passed my Criticall test a few days ago. Its tough. But you will know what to expect keep going.
From CA... so hopefully this question isn't a surprise... Is Marijuana use a disqualifying substance?
Historically yes, but a bill has been passed in cali where employers cant ask about use for marijuana specifically, i imagine we will start seeing the questions about marjuana leaving the process. They will continue to ask about other drug use history
How lomg is the exam?
Usually depends on how long it takes to work through the questions I would leave 1-2 hour space with a quick chat with the doctor at the end 👍🏽
Does anyone know the minimum passing score for the typing test?
If your talking about the typing certificate that you submit with you initial application it varies typically between 35-50 wpm, if your talking about the pre employment test, the number is set by each department and is typically tested throughout the test all sections, and calculated at the end but again the number is determined by the agency! hope that is a little helpful!
thanks
Your so welcome !
can we wear jeans?
I would not wear jeans to psychological exam but medical exam with a nice shirt would be okay.
What kind of drug test is it?
Typically urin but I’m sure each departments different
i’m here bc of you!! i got through my interview and my background investigation! super helpful for anyone considering this career field 🫶🏼
🥹🥹🥹🥹 I am so happy for you congratulations !
