I don't even think the great and mighty SCIENCE could explain Omar's solo at 4:17. I remember hearing that on the record and it just..... Whoo.... Mhmm... Yeah.... Mmyeah....
@unsilentsin I love Flea and all, but Juan's bass solo is 100% Juan, totally different from what Flea recorded, a lot more experimental and trippy. Probably my favorite live bass solo I've heard of him. His usage of effects is bar to none.
100% agreed. i think Jon might have been a bit more creative and definitely had more... style and bombast, if you will. But Pridgen is, by anyone's standards, ranks as one of the best living drummers.
Thomas is a virtuoso but he doesn't feel the music like Jon used to. I don't think he intentionally means to "solo" over the top of the music, it just sounds the way it does because that's how he "feels" the music. I prefer Jon as the drummer, personally, but Thomas is with them now, and some of his interpretations of the songs are pretty sick as fuck in all honesty.
As far as the constant comparisons between Jon and Thomas, Omar said himself, that Jon had nothing to give and it was finally nice to have a drummer that gives suggestions and I quote, "I don't have to work as hard". So, the band has grown and people have nothing better to do than compare apples to oranges, get over it. Just be thankful they didn't get Meg White. Sorry to sound like a dick but every time I watch a MV show on utube, there's always a debate over the drummer. T.P. filled big shoes.
don't know about that, but pridgen is all about himself. just listen to songs written without him, he's overdoing them toooo much. can't listen to any of the roulette versions with him on drums
The bass solo is so goddamn awesome.
Juan is a king!
I have two plectrums from this guy, nice souvenir :)
I love this song so much!!
gotta love that bass solo Juan is the man.
I've been wanting to see this video so bad ever since they took it off off of windows media player videos a couple years ago. Thanks for posting it.
I would give a vital organ to hear them play this when I see them... Which will be in Kansas City next time they come around... PLEASE OMAR PLEASE ;_;
If I wanted to hear what they do in the studio, I would listen to their cd for the seven thousandth time.
