Nice one Oliver really nice looking hybrids I've learnt one my mutation siskin mules I breed to sing black head red siskin song he's picked it up mint just something different to hear of a mule singing lol all the best from Paul from Staffordshire England 🇬🇧 👍
Did you buy these hybrids and are you going to keep them? I love to see hybrids but I won't breed them simply because females are often "useless" and males are put in a tiny cage to sing.
If you don't mind mate can I have the name of the company you got your metal cages off in your new Bird room Thanks mate . What some birds you have there special
Great birds, spoilt a little by the condition of the cages! I understand the challenge of creating these birds but I do think the priority should be increasing the quantity of the pure bred birds. I have plenty of greenfinches and goldfinches in my garden, but I haven’t seen Bullfinches or Chaffinches like I did a few years ago. We need to BACK up nature to ensure these beautiful breeds are around for the future.
Then you most go ttalk whit the goverment the fault is they dont understand it the city works kill lots whit spraying the wild herbs and to fast shorting the grass and trimming the trees and they lett bild evrey spot in the green will be a hous or new street..
For the persons they like to breed hybrids off muling is two different bird typ's a real hybride is fertil and a mule not ... hybrids ar from the same specie like sib goldie x greyhead goldie iff you do this then they allways take sib goldie mutation x greyhead goldie normal .. becos all cocks ar f1 split for the mutation and the hen's ar also f1 but in mutation them you put back allways on pure greyhead normal birds .. and is the same whit all type off greenies an bullies and more ... a mule is when you breed canary x crossbill off simpel goldie x canary all whit canary in combonation whit native ar muel not fertil only sirin x canary is fertil becose the same family ... The best mule for show ar goldie x two barrel crossbeak and pine grossbeak x bullfinch hen and siskin x crossbeak and black siskin x native bullfinch and chaffinch x goldie
Why do you cross breed birds of different species? The point of breeding should be to improve the breed/species. I am failing to see any reason to mix breed any animal. If any of these species are endangered in the wild cross breeding captive ones goes against all conservation efforts.
I'm I'm bit confused. Isn't showing a hybrid a bite Like showing a mongrel dog? I think you should concentrate on producing pure wild type birds. Just look at the parakeet world now. Vertuly inposible to get some specises in pure wild type. Plz don't let this happen in the British bird world to.
Hybrids are bred purposely when breeding British finches for the purpose of exhibition and as a challenge as they have their own sections and special awards. Generally, mules & hybrids are infertile therefore can’t pollute gene pools in other pure finch species. Occasionally fertile ones are produced however aren’t bred back into the population without a specific recognised benefit (e.g. colour mutation) and then still are kept separate from pure lines.
These are show cages, for the purpose of showing birds at exhibitions and being able to look at them closely. They go into larger cages or aviaries most of the time when not being shown

Breeding hybrids and mules give bird keeping a bad name it should not encourage
Don't look at them then
Birds need to fly, so sad seeing them in tiny cages for humans to look at. 😢
