SUPER JOB! Love your work. It's amazing to see how much more detail (and craftmanship) went into the manufacturing of furniture back in the 60's. My son and I are about to refinish our old diningroom table. It is 25 years old now. My wife and I passed it on to him when he went away to college. Am sure he will be passing it down to his son down the road. And I bet he will be helping his son refinish it again. Thank You!
I like all the people and doggos walkin around in the background. Also the ambient noise of the wind/leaves, kids playing and crows cawwing really makes your videos pleasant. Dont ever change!
I have a pair of these to go along with my coffee table (the matching rectangular coffee table you did in another video). I waited my whole life to inherit them and they got a lot of use; the coffee table was in my dad's living room until the day he died. I actually found the bill of sale for them in his files! He and my mom paid $200 for all three pieces in 1961. Now that the weather is cooling down, I will start the refinishing of this cherished set.
This is my favorite TH-cam channel by far. I love all things mid-century and so these are the perfect videos; I just wish there were more as I have watched all of them. Thank you.
This is great. I have a Baumritter coffee table with the same contrasting wood that I’m refinishing. I also had trouble with orange strip and the streaked top. I did the same thing, applied a second coat and that seemed to fix it. Mine had been refinished with some very stubborn plastic like coat in places that the orange strip wouldn’t dissolve and I ended up using a scraper on those. It was helpful to see how the contrasting wood looked after staining.
Such a feel good video! I'll be restoring a 1941 White Rotary sewing mach cabinet. A little apprehensive, but I plan to use your videos as a guide and and also for buying the right products for the job. You have given me confidence. I read down below about an epoxy sponsorship. Heck, you could sponsor any number of those products you use. Look forward to your next restore and thank you.
You do fantastic work! It's obvious that you love what you do, with your attention to detail and the care you give with each restoration! Admirable, sir.
So glad to not see that shelf wiggling around anymore- and wow, the color of the legs, edge and top is so much more uniform now thanks to the gel stain. Excellent work!
Finally, I get to watch part 2. Just what I needed to wrap up my weekend. I really liked the candlelight stain. Another beautiful restoration, you are an artist. 😊
Wow flashback. My parents had 2 of these tables. Might have been hand me downs from my grandparents. My mother painted them dark green and "antiqued" them (ugh...). Lane made some nice stuff.
Well done!!..... The project was good size.. Not too complex, and easy to follow... Excellent result!!..👍... (could watch these types of videos all day!!).......
Being a child of the 70's, I have always loved MCM, although none in my extended family ever had that style of decor, I grew up seeing it in the thrift stores we frequented and was always taken with it. I love that you take such care in restoring it. I hope to help someone like you someday. I am a textile artist. Going hand-in-hand with the hard furnishings, upholstery, weaving and soft furnishings are my thing.
@@nowvoyagerNE I don't know why, but I am also having a problem with the spacing between paragraphs. I have to edit every one of my posts, otherwise it looks like I added two or three spaces. I know, it is annoying. Could it be a You Tube glitch?
Your channel is so helpful and inspiring. I have 4 mid century pieces I've picked up so far. Looking for a few more. Once I've got them all, I want to start restoring them. I can't wait! ❤❤❤
Beautiful work. I was disappointed when I first saw what some amateur had previously done to this lovely piece. It wound up looking like a million bucks.
Another tip for dowels is to put a bit of a small screw into them, then pull them out. When I was assembling my bookshelf, the wooden dowels were basically little demons and they broke often. The screws saved me and the bookshelf. 😂
Your techniques and attention to detail are excellent. Your videos are awesome. I like the sound of your voice too. I look forward to seeing your videos.
You are the Car Cleaning Guru of furniture repair, love it! Especially since it seems exclusively mid century modern stuff, so nice! By chance, can you make a video showing your business/workshop/showroom?
Ah... just what I needed on a Saturday night, part 2. I was eagerly waiting for it. "There was a little bit of the epoxy putty that was showing..." man, if that isn't attention to detail, then I don't know what it is. :)) Wow... Another great restoration, I would buy it in a heartbeat. I'm ready for your next video!
I hate to sound selfish but, I need some new videos. There is only so many pieces of furniture I can make. Restoration is now becoming my new hobby. Quarantined is also driving me crazy, ok crazier. Wonderful videos, thanks. Stay safe.
You do a magnificent job with your projects; but, the undersides are very rough.....did you ever think to finish them too? I know they don't show normally; but, if they were to be mine, I would like to have the bottoms neat too. However, I still think you are very talented and your stuff is just wonderful. I thoroughly enjoy watching your videos.
There’s a shop in Atlanta that has a set of these tables for sale. They are at Highland Row Antiques and they are listed for $425.00. So,nice find and you did s good job with the restoration.
I noticed you use blue shop towels for the wipe on poly. I thought those would leave lint behind. Evertime I watched your videos I learn something new.
I was actually using a piece of an old t-shirt. I’ve tried using the blue shop towels for that but they sometimes leave little blue bits in the finish.
Hey man I absolutely love your videos, I watch them with my friend all the time. I’ve learned alot and feel the gratification that you do, vicariously haha Something that I have always thought though is that you should post a before and after clip at the very end, so we can really see the progress you made!!
You wouldn’t happen to know if gel stain goes by a different name overseas would you? I’m in Australia and having a hell of a time finding the stuff. Love you videos, mate. 🤜🏻🤛🏻
DD&R i enjoy watching your videos. You have given me so many ideas. If I may ask a question. What is the best thing to clean real wood that has been stained and finished that has had food and drink spilled on them. Like a desk and dresser. Thanks, luv2fly.
Hello, I have a beautiful mid century coffee table I got at the goodwill. It has two spots that look like candle wax sat & now it’s stained. May I please ask your opinion on a way to get rid of it. I can’t find anyway that I’ve looked for the answer. Thank you for your time & I I just adore your work. Sincerely Patricia
What you did well here, that every other refinisher gets wrong, is getting the color of the mixed woods right. Usually people just stain both the walnut and fruit wood with one color and it gives the trim a bleached out look.
I purchased one of these tables at a thrift store a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, they painted it white. I believe they just sanded it and painted over with what I think is chalk paint. I would love to refinish it. I’m a beginner, so any tips on how to specifically remove that paint would be greatly appreciated. I’m hoping they didn’t damage the veneer while sanding. Thanks!
Lane Acclaim Step Tables are so handsome. Such a timeless design. Your restoration was wonderful. Thanks!

That is going to change very soon, it gets very cold in Minnesota. ;))
I know I'm not the only person who waits for that sweet shot: when the finish goes on and the grain just *pops* Yeah....😊
It's a real pleasure to watch you work your magic. Relaxing and satisfying. Thanks and keep the videos coming.
