@@CampingwiththeColes I have a plan with Bell and I find that connectivity at provincial parks is not great. I used to be with Fido who uses the Rogers network and the connectivity was usually better than my wife gets with Telus (Koodo), so I’m going to go back to a carrier that uses the Rogers network.
Very few mosquitoes at our site because it was an open sunny site. Some of the sites more in the woods had a lot of mosquitoes. You can see them flying around Cheryl's head when she is talking about the comfort stations. No issues with other biting insects.
I live in Niagara and have been camping with a trailer for a few years now. As someone who loves to drive and has done many road trips like you two, I couldn’t suggest using the 407 more. As others have said, the benefit of no traffic massively out weighs the cost. Online has a calculator to find out approx costs. Safe travels!
Thanks for the suggestion. I had a look at the online calculator and because my combination weighs over 5000kg I would have to pay the highest rate and have to have a transponder. Am I missing something? In practice do they actually rate it at a lower rate because it's an RV situation. I can't imagine paying the same rate as a tractor-trailer.
Great review of the park. We've been there a couple of times. There are LOTS of tickets there! Hubby had to go to the hospital because of one. We noticed that you didn't go see the lock when you cross the suspension bridge. If you had walked just a bit further and around a corner, (honestly, like 200 to 300 metres?) you could have visited the lock. It's really big! You'll have to go next time!
When we are towing across Toronto we always take Hwy. 407. It’s expensive but it’s worth it to me. There’s a lot less traffic and the road surface is much better. Happy Anniversary!
We've never been on the 407 but the 401 is killing me. Do you have any idea how much it costs to go end to end on the 407 towing a double axle trailer?
@CampingwiththeColes from 401 exit closer to Milton east to highway 418 to head south back to the 401 you are looking at anything from $34 up to $65 one way if you are under 5000 kg total weight. 407 website has a calculator.
Driving the 407 is definitely worth the cost! Toronto is a zoo to drive through. The drive to Lake St. Peter PP was much less stressful and not near as long as it would have been had we done the 401. The highway is in great shape from end to end. We will definitely be going the 407 when we go to Bon Echo this week.
I looked into trailering on 407 - problem is at or above 12000 lbs combined GVWR you are considered a "multi-vehicle" (so different - higher - rates) and by law you must have a transponder. We decided to suffer through 401 woes instead.
Happy 33rd Anniversary 🎉 you guys are so amazing and I am so thankful for your informative videos! Can you share more details about the game you guys were playing. That looked like fun🙌🏼
That was a game called dice poker from Michaud Toys www.michaudtoys.org/ It's a family run Ontario company. We aren't sponsored by them or anything, we just love their games. We have a few different ones.
Thanks again for an informative video. We have a strange question about Ont. PPs.: We camp often in Algonquin (Pog Lake) and this year we went also to Emily. We find that the showers are waaay too hot and the pressure is extreme. I would have thought that a more moderate temperature would save money...?
I get what you mean. We see that a lot too. Often I'm concerned for kids having a shower when it's so hot. Ya never know what you're going to get. I think the pressure has a lot to do with the number of people using water at the time. It would certainly save the park money to reduce the heat.
Did either of you attempt walking up the connecting trail between the two campgrounds? Very beastly for just a 0.22km trail if walking it in the up direction.
I love your show I've honestly watched every single episode you have put out even trailer repairs and upgrades and I only have a tent keep it up love spending time watching your videos

Great review! How did you train Jax to stay on the paddle board? I have a 5 month doodle and love to bring her along on either a paddle board or kayak.
When we got Jax from the Humane Society at 11 months old he was hesitant around water. So when I put him on the SUP he stayed. After a while he became a 100% water dog and then it was tough to stop him from jumping off the board. He settled and now he knows I'll let him go for swims out in the middle of the lake so he stays put until I tell him he can go.
Happy Anniversary!!! We usually leave early in the morning (5:00 am) to avoid traffic and find things to do on the other side of Toronto, if our site isn't available. Thanks for this review. Well done! If you are ever in the area again check out Church Key Brewing. Located in a old church filled with history just outside of town. The owner welcomes everyone as if they are a old friend.
Yes, many people suggested Church Key Brewing. We were pressed for time and decided to drop it from our list of places to go. Kudos to Cheryl for crossing the bridge. I too have a fear of heights so I question whether I could walk across. Also, the cardinal made us laugh as we have a female one, at our house, who is daily attacking the front windows. We’ve tried putting things on the window to stop her but with no success.
