A new writers strike is on the horizon. May 1st is when the current contract expires and writes want better deals with streaming shows.

If I recall correctly, I read somewhere that his show wasn’t getting enough viewers. That said, I don’t know how the hell that’s possible with Fallon’s exaggerated personality. This guy seems much more naturally comedic and relatable.
Luis Oramas Part of the reason why Conan's Tonight Show didn't have strong ratings was because he had a weak lead-in, The Jay Leno Show, which also affected the late local news and Conan.
it's not "relatable", it's genuine, that's what makes this feel so wholesome, so many people on TV are just following a script, trying to get a laugh out of you to keep you watching, it feels so good to see them go out playing guitar as a band even when the non-funny script is still going, i would do anything to see Conan with his employees playing a song for real. i'm sure it would get really popular too, people want to see their star going unscripted and doing something cool for the heck of it.

The nbc writer's strike was one of the best times in late night tv. Conan came out with some creative skits.
wasn't just NBC, all of Hollywood had no writers.
It really showed just how far above the rim Conan plays compared to the other late night hosts
And the writers thought they're doing good for themselves doing a strike.
But the show flourished without them lol.

For those who are wondering what's on the 'Korean' newspaper (it's actually written in traditional Chinese).
It roughly translates to 'the rumblings of the thunder are loud, but there are only a few raindrops' (a Chinese idiom), meaning 'all talk and no action'.
No that is not chinese. That is Hiragana , the Japanese language.

I am a native Hong Konger. The written language is definitely traditional Chinese lol. I wonder what region the publication is from? I would assume it's a North American newspaper for Chinese-speaking communities because Conan was NOT well known in Asia back in those days. Some people might know about David Letterman (since his show was broadcast on public TV in places like Hong Kong), but not Conan, Jay Leno, etc

He does! I can't remember whether it was on the show or on the podcast but he and Sona have discussed his habit of wandering around his offices and randomly breaking into bits. It's apparently gotten to the point where his employees get exasperated with him because their boss won't stop interrupting them and trying to make them laugh while they have work to do.
At least, this was what it was like pre-pandemic. Now he apparently does bits for random fans he meets in public (from a safe distance), to the point where they get sick of him and start to inch away.

Conan performed Creep hands down better with his whole crew, that guitar just adds a whole other level to it. Jordan on the Drums though never gets old!

A big advantage of a writers' strike is, that the host is an incredibly talented writer himself.

TH-cam came out in 2005 my guy. This episode of Conan was shot in 2008.
