Conan cutting Jimmy's compliment off to compliment him and making Jimmy tear up.... man.. there's just no one out there like Conan.
Wholesome
Conan when they cut: "You will die in 4 years."
@@joshcryer and it's "you got 4 more years, tops"
@@jkap34what is this a reference to?
@@duhneez2068 It's from the recent First We Feast Hot Ones episode with Conan (which is hilariously unhinged by the end of it). He said that as a host he'd occasionally say something provocative to guests between commercial breaks to keep the energy up, like telling old people "you got 4 more years, tops." Except one time he said that to Bea Arthur and he was right. She died pretty close to 4 years later.
This is such a bittersweet moment. Conan's such a class act. The way he tap that table in the end, you can tell he's moved on already, but the scars will be there forever. 😭
Why'd he have to go and make me cry there at the end! Class act!
Couldn't have said it better.
The GOAT being interviewed by the LOAT here
Perfectly put
He really did love it
Such a incredible human
Scars from what exactly?
Conan is the perfect example of how you can be one of the most recognizable people in the world, yet still be wholesome and genuine.
Well said!:)❤...i love him!
I swear, you can see his eyes get more watery when he starts talking about 'Conan O'Brien Must Go'. He really loves connecting with fans.
This is probably the most genuine and relaxed Jimmy’s been on his show. He just lets Conan talk and really toned down his invasive niceness, and he genuinely engages in a conversation.
“Invasive niceness.” What a great description of it! His niceness is a very distinct kind of invasive species.
Really wish we'd see more of Jimmy like this--with peers that he's comfortable or highly respectful of.
I'm not a big fan of the guy, but his and Conan's nice back and forth is really lovely to see in this interview
he tried multiple times. Conan just made sure to talk over it
Conan has the ability to put anyone at ease in an interview setting. It’s why his podcast is so good.
@@mose1095 I totally agree, (I’m just gonna preface this by saying that I’m heavily influenced by alcohol) that’s what made *his* show so engaging, despite his “scripted” character (using this loosely as Conan has admitted that his TV persona is a heightened version of his actual off camera personality) is intentionally sarcastic/sardonic but also curious about his guests, and balancing entertainment and info. Sorry for being brief and shit, I’m just really drunk right now.
If my reply seems unclear/wishy washy, just let me know, and I’ll try to expand while I’m sober.
I genuinely love exchanging ideas and shit, so it might seem like I’m taking this too seriously… I hope I make myself clear here or whatever
Not many people could make me watch Fallon but Conan is certainly one of them. King of late night
😂😂😂 Same!
🙋♀️
conan clearly disagrees with you about jimmy fallon.
Same
@@mschiano1 Or he’s being gracious. Many people agree with me.
You can tell Jimmy is gets a little emotional at the end there. He really respects Conan. Bless both of them.
I feel like at this point, getting praise from Conan is the equivalent to when Carson would give praise to a comedian. It’s like the ultimate nod of approval.
@@MrSuperJADFor me this is kinda Jimmy's "Letterman to Conan" moment. Happy for both of them. Jimmy's not my cup of tea but hey if the show is still running, he must be doing something right.
@@justanuglyboy Yeah... he must be pleasing the right political party from time to time.
@@justanuglyboy Did u even look at the ratings on shows like jimmy or Kimmel, or Colbert before posting that blabber?
@@justanuglyboy Their ratings are horrendous. Absolutely horrendous.
Conan’s final speech about cynicism during his last episode on the Tonight’s Show still sticks with me till this day. His tenure may have been short lived, but the impact lasts forever. I still see him as a role model on how to handle a shitty situation.

Well said friend
Synch! Was just thinking this exact thought.
and he bought a bugatti and put mouse ears on it
Conan is a living icon. If you grew up in the 90s, he's bigger than Letterman, Leno, and everyone since. He was and is, KING of Late Night. Thanks for all the entertainment and memories, Conan.
I grew up in the early 2000s and around 2010 I found Conan and have watched him for over a decade now. I think he’s one of the most entertaining, funniest people I’ve ever seen on tv. He’s awesome.
He is more global than the rest cause he is a great people champ.
Letterman was solid. Leno was for grannies. But Conan, man, he was just off the wall crazy and non stop funny and creative with all the bits and segments they came up, of course with their writing team too. Conan was the best.
I actually didn't get into him until his tonight show time because my girlfriend at the time, her family watched him and I'd catch him when I'd be there late at night. This was his tonight show time because I was a senior '09-10. I then kept up with him when he went to tbs and loved him ever since.
Letterman was great too. Conan is the funniest tho.
Conan offering the sweetest words to Jimmy feels reminiscent of Dave doing the same thing for him during his early "Late Night" days. I don't know if Jimmy needed to hear that akin to how Conan felt, but you just know Conan wanted to pay it forward. Truly the greatest of his generation.
I am not really a fan of Jimmy, but I do think the level of hate he gets is unjustified, and from what I've seen, a decent amount of comedians haven't exactly treated him with respect, so to hear a very pure compliment like that from Conan must have felt great.
Jimmy doesn't need it in the sense that Conan did, but he does get too much flak..
Times have changed, it's difficult to say if Leno or Letterman were still doing it the numbers would be acceptable. Probably not. So Jimmy doing the show his way to appeal to different demographics is just a consequence of a changing market.
@@bizarroeddie1yeah late night is so different I mean if I watch any it’s just clips and Conan’s podcast clips usually are funnier then the stuff on late night
Came here to say exactly the same. Definitely inspired by Dave, and keeping the tradition.
I immediately thought of Dave and Conan too. Even the words Conan spoke felt very similar to what Dave said to Conan.
Conan wasn’t going to let Jimmy wrap the segment without getting that compliment in. Respect.
Just saw Conan on a hot wings podcast, and he did something similar and with so much respect and heart. He is the real deal, beautiful moment to see!!! Team Coco!
5:33 "I'll teach it to you guys. Jesus!" Dang calling out The Roots. 😂
that was hilarious!!! Idk if anyone caught that. Good ole Conan!!
To tell Conan he raised the bar and made him work hard after that beautiful compliment was just the classiest response 💚
Yeah, it really is the bow that ties the gift together. What a nice send-off and what a great sentiment. You can just feel deeper emotions brewing in that space even if they go unacknowledged.
10:04 you can tell from Jimmy's face that what Conan said mean a lot to him
Yup. Jimmy's had so many doubters and gone thru so much in his time as host....Conan's words were important. He knew they were important. And being such a class act himself, Conan made sure he said those words on air. ❤
In all the drama between NBC Conan and Leno. Fallon was in the middle of it all and I am sure he was always afraid that Conan resented him for taking the Late show not to long after Leno quit again.
“You raised the bar” was that a subtle dig at Jay? Love it
I actually remember during the Leno feud days, Jimmy started one of his shows by thanking Conan for like a minute for leaving NBC and not pushing Jimmy’s late show’s time slot back even further.
I remember how David Letterman also did that for Conan
Conan’s remotes are hands-down, the funniest bits in all of late night TV. Who agrees?
Absolutely agree!😊
The Conan / Jordan skits are stuff of legends
His remotes are my comfort videos, specifically when he delivers Chinese food in nyc and when he becomes a Mary Kay consultant 😂
Do you remember picking apples with Mr T? Was just amazing
HBO remembers. Conan's new show looks like fun.
It’s rare to see Fallon listening and laughing (genuinely) this much. He really loves Conan. As we all do.
Prince is that unreachable star for other stars everyone have a story about. Just like if he lived in another galaxy and occasionally stop by to do music on earth time to time.
The icon himself. I miss him on TV. 💯 Was number 1 late night host. He found the incredible thin line between intelligence and stupidity. Genius.
And how his hair still amazing like on first night over 25 years ago? 😂
Yeah, I was just thinking if his show was still on and what it would have been like during the lockdowns, him bearded again and going absolutely insane hahaha.
He said on his final show on TBS that if you can find that intersection between smart and stupid, amazing things can happen.
Conan's podcast is amazing.
@@Dan-SimmsHe was on during the lockdown! They rented a theatre but there was no audience.
They did this thing later where they had fans of the show send photos of themselves and the production people made those into life size cardboard cut outs and placed them in every seat in the theatre to look like an audience!
It was brilliant!
@@dcool2u2 oh yeah I forgot about that
The Roots missin the cue, lol.
"I'll teach it to you guys, Jesus..."
I don’t think they’re allowed to. NBC would have to pay royalties to Stevie Wonder and it would end up being a very expensive episode of television
@@cheerfuljuanConan still wants to spend NBC’s money.
Is the roots.. and is jimmy fallon ...and is conan talking about Prince and stevie wonder ... they all can afford the soundbite , that will get enough clicks to pay for itself and more...that's why Conan had to give them that subtle jab 😅
@cheerfuljuan
As much as I like The Roots, you just know that had it been Paul Shaffer's band there, they would have joined in without missing a beat.

Conan was the only late night show I ever truly adored. His show set the gold standard for late night talk shows in the US. Watching him tear up throughout this interview made me cry a little bit. And I am an Irish Catholic who doesn't often cry.
Prince was a celebrity even to other celebrities.
For real, MJ and Prince were basically royalty to celebrities back then
EVEN PRINCE OUTLIVED MIKE JACK 🔥
And among two celebrities who have met EVERY celebrity out there, pretty wild
Yeah he was basically a mystic. All mysterious and shit. Also a hell of a musical artist. MJ ain’t even close to being as cool as Prince in my opinion. MJ is still cool I guess.
I could listen to Conan tell stories all day
Just listen/watch the podcast, dummy
Then def check out his podcast. A lot of them are in video form on TH-cam.
Definitely. Conan is the best. Miles miles better than fake Fallon.

9:50 - Aww - who's cutting onions around here??? Conan's tenure as the Host of the show might've been short, but it was legendary. Especially those last few weeks of shows. I still get a chuckle over the Bugatti mouse😂😂😂

Conan is completely in his element here. Like he's gone right back in time. Love him.
Conan was my Late Night Host. As a teenager when I first saw his show I knew I’d be a fan of his for life. I just watched him on the show Hot Ones and he’s easily the best guest that’s ever been on that show. Always hilarious but remains a humble class act. 😎
Conan is the MOST generous person ever. He always compliments his host and it really seems heartfelt. ❤
That Carol Burnett podcast episode story is so adorable and touching. In Conan's podcast, all guests must say the tagline, "Hi, my name is ......and I feel .....about being Conan O'Brien's friend".
And then Carol said,
"Hi, my name is Carol Burnett. And I feel so much love for Conan O'Brien."
😭😭😭
mid 40's but i also feel carol burnett was my first intro to comedy, or at least my first memories of it
The Prince reminiscing was so special and felt so much like listening in on them just chatting. How sincere and lovely! This interview was absolutely amazing
Conan getting teary eyed definitely made me teary eyed as well... Been watching this man since his debut in 93 when I was 13 and I haven't stopped since... It was difficult to see what he went through in 2010 with the tonight show and this has been my first time watching the tonight show since... The saddest part of watching Conan is seeing how much he's aged as I've aged watching him... I was a child when I started and now I'm a father of 3 beautiful children who also know how much their father loves this man... Keep on doing what you're doing Conan... You're a national treasure and although I've fallen short many times, I've learned so much about how to be a great human being through watching you.
I was 8 😂. And I always felt that Conan’s Late Night show was borderline inappropriate for me, but that’s what kept me watching it. I’ve been a huge fan ever since and this interview plus his Hot Ones is getting all the young kids to notice him again - LOL.
To the band: "I'll teach it to you guys. Jesus." 10/10
You can tell that this visit brought out so many emotions in Conan. All his stories are told with glossy eyes. Bring back Conan and Craig!
I can't believe in December, it will be 10 years for Criag. Other than a few odds and ends, he's all but disappeared. Miss them both.

@@MarcKloos I am feeling better actually. Thanks for asking.
Conan tapping the desk at the end! It’s emotional for everyone! I’m glad to see Conan strive! I love that guy! He’s a legend!
TV doesn’t deserve this great man. He is the most naturally funny person. No need for props, gimmicks or celebrities. Conan will always be my favorite late night host & comedian.
Ive never found someone else like Conan, his dedication to make everything in such a stupid and cartoonish yet intelligent line of wit is something I've not seen anywhere else.and the way that he self depreciation jokes it's kind of unique in our television today
I'd recommend seth meyers and especially the segment "corrections" it's so unhinged, youtube exclusive. I watch the whole week just for context for the 12 mins (avg) of corrections each week. Running inside jokes... it's a masterpiece. The closest to filling conans ginormous shoes.
You should check out GMM especially the older episodes

You can tell when someone looks up to someone, this has to be the most relaxed and real I've seen Jimmy in quite a long time. I love Conan and this speaks to his character a lot.
the clip they used for his HBO series was so perfect. i couldn't stop laughing at using the bread to break up the cereal.
“The drink’s gone!” deserved much more of a laugh than one guy. I was dying 🤣 What a simple but brilliant joke.

The amount of respect these men have for each other is truly beautiful
This is an instant classic. Conan just gets better with the years man… we love you Conan 🫶🏼
I love Conan. And he is the only person that can get Jimmy to not interupt or act obnoxious. When Jimmy is with Conan, it's the only time I can actually like Jimmy because it's the rare time when he seems more himself, respectful, and like a cool dude. Conan brings that out of people
Prince was one of a kind. I always said he was like a reincarnation of so many of our musical geniuses of old.

“Jimmy I don’t know much, but I think you’re gonna go far” 2/18/1999 - Jimmy’s first late night interview, on this very show, with Conan O’Brien as the host. I’m not a big jimmy fan, but I can’t help but to take the time to recognize what a true hilarious, and true gentleman Conan is. The way they both get emotional at the end struck me deeply. Late night is a continuously taxing and brutal job that is yet, still a luxury. Conan had an authentic way of recognizing that.
I haven't watched a clip of Jimmy Fallon's in over 4 years, but I'll watch anything Conan O'Brien.
Awee “thank you for always being so nice to me”.
The most amazing thing about this video is that jimmy actually shuts the f up for a change. Everybody truly admires and respects Conan in the business.
That’s his job dumbass
5:32 Love that little jab! 😂 cheeky pay back for rimshot before.

That Prince story is sooooo hilarious! Classic Prince, and Conan tells it with perfect comedic timing.
I love how he can be sarcastic and jokey as well as completely sincere and heartfelt
I saw Conan when he was in NBC, my sister and I got tickets to his live taping before he started taping he came out talked to his audience and he came to us and shook his hand. That was one of my favorite moments of my life
Same thing happened to me!
I took the Warner Brothers Studio tour years ago. When we drove along a particular building, the guide said that Conan has his office in it. He said that Conan regularly sticks his head out the window and messes with the visitors on the tour tram. I was there between Christmas Day and New Years Day, so he was on vacation.
Conan is such a class act, what he said to Jimmy at the end, 🥹 so sweet. Team Coco
Just came across the clip on my Google feed and had to watch it because I missed it on TV. Aw that picture of Jimmy and Conan from 1999. Memories. Sniff. Not only for them but for me. There is something comforting about going back in time. The 90s late night programming was great. I'm proud to say I still have some taped episodes of Conan from the 90s and I watch it when I need a nostalgic taste. Conan's still got it. Looks and talent. Thank God for famous people like Jimmy and Conan who don't think they're too great to have a pic with fans.
Don't watch late night TV especially Fallon, but Conan is such an icon.

Conan’s the best! Always over the top and yet humble in the same breath. Bigs up everyone he’s with. True showbiz gent.
Conan is the greatest! I actually watched a Fallon clip, only for Conan! 🙌🙌
Conan does the best remote spots. He is such a legend. The way he handled the whole mess with Jay Leno and NBC elevated him to a true superstar status.
What a gentleman and really funny guy.
5:25 That was incredible timing. Just shows how good of a comedian he is.
That was such a genuine moment at the end there. You can tell because they both got quite flustered, even Conan getting jittery and tapping on the desk.
My favorite guest of Conan’s is Bill Burr, I love how he says whatever’s in his head and Conan just can’t stop him. They have amazing rapport.
Conan's final minute kinda reminds me of his last minutes on the Tonight Show. I remember watching the premiere of Conan's Tonight Show (I don't exactly remember why) and I remember watching those final episodes of his tenure (his speech about cynicism and continuing to work hard and being kind stays w/ me to this day).
I kept up w/ the Legally Prohibited Tour and watched the TH-cam videos then and watched the premiere of Conan on TBS. I just love seeing the humanity in Conan.
His last speech on the Tonight Show was legendary. It will be immortalized.
You are such a narcissist. No one cares why you watched or remembered watching the premiere.
I’m guessing you are kawaii because you are clueless.
Also, your use of “tenure” is just 🤮
When I was in Jr. High I used to watch Conan on his first show. Here I am probably 25 years later missing those days. Conan is the true king of late night. Everyone else are peasants. It’s Conan’s world and we are just living in it
Man, this moment's hitting me right in the feels. Conan's a real champ, you know? That tap on the table at the end speaks volumes. He's moving on, but you can bet those scars ain't going anywhere. 😢
He is such a class act and you can tell a great person. He is the example of what a professional is that respects his craft and his community. It was never Jimmy’s fault for what happened to Conan. Love to see their respect for one another.

Haven't watch a Fallon clip in years but watching Conan in that vintage NY studio he so much aspired to have made me stick around for the whole bit. Conan is as authentic as Colbert whom I admire as well. He is pure comedic genius without limitations. Master Class here.
