    I owned a Cimarron from my junior year in high school to my final year in college.
    I had done chores and run errands for a neighbor who bought it brand new.
    When she could no longer drive, she gifted it to me.
    It was five years old and had less than 10k miles.
    She even replaced all the tires!
    I drove it an additional 140k miles until it was rear-ended at a stoplight and totaled.
    Never failed to start or left me stranded despite a lot of deferred maintenance and the installation of junkyard parts.
    Hardly the greatest vehicle I have ever owned but not as bad as urban legend suggests.

    My story with a Cimarron owner when I was working at an independent shop in 1990 as a tech-They get real angry when you ask them to move their Cavalier so you can pull a car out of a stall being blocked. It was an honest hurried mistake and not one intended to upset a paying customer.

    As a former owner of an 85 Cavalier (it was my first car!) the Cimarron is very familiar to me as well! That turn signal is probably just a burnt out bulb, and all 4 window regulators would benefit from a good cleaning and lube with new lithium grease. As a side note, even with the slight miss, the car was so quiet and smooth that I didnt even realize that it was still running in the video until you popped the hood! A good tune-up and cleaning of the injectors usually takes care of that slight miss. I enjoyed your video and as a fan of Adam's channel as well, I can't wait to see his fearures on it!

Ample power from the 2.0, good road manners and NO torque steer. Was far beyond the improvised X-cars. Only AMC could build a decent compact from big car parts. But I digress. Cavalier wasn't a race car, never intended to be, but it could move. Got a speeding ticket near Tallahassee doing 85 in a 55 on the damned Interstate.

    Tune it and fix the miss and that car will FLY!! My mom had a 86 or 87 and I used to love driving it!! She never had any problems but it will have rust issues under the paint in the back around the wheel wells area. Another funny thing is I found completely by chance the electrical wiring harness is the same for the Cavalier and the Cimarron and on the Cavalier if it came with manual windows the electrical plug was there it was just pushed back into the door! When my Mom got a new car she gave that Cimarron to my little brother and he had it for quite a while before something else caught his eye. Anyway. Enjoy and don't take any crapola from anyone about owning that beautiful car!!! 😊

    That was a FUN video and I'm glad you picked it up! It has a nice instrument cluster for a slightly restyled and reengineered economy car. It's very clear and shows a lot more than the usual idiot lights - more than most other Cadillacs I've seen. I think it's got a much nicer interior than some modern expensive electric cars that shall go nameless. Overall, that's a car I would still drive today. A little TLC, maybe some new shocks and tires, a paint correction and that car will GLEAM. The engine compartment that clean is a minor miracle (vacuum operated cruise that still works after 37 years? astounding!) and I didn't even know it was running for a while there - quiet engine!
    Who else googled Moore Cadillac/Pontiac/Jaguar in Ellisville MO? They're permanently closed now according to The Cloud. That's a very clean car for anything from 1986. How was your mileage?

    • @tonyscarcare5657
      @tonyscarcare5657  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Alex-px2mb ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tonyscarcare5657 That was the right thing to do. One other thing: as a Cadillac, I expected to see fake wood all around the instrument cluster, which I don't like at all (unless it's REALLY GOOD) and I thought the subtle waffle pattern was much more appropriate. It can probably be removed easily (as you say) and repainted also. Maybe I'm just getting old but I actually really dig that little car and I hope Adam has a lot of fun with it. For sure it's a nice grocery go-getter with some style and retro flair.

    I have never seen a Cimarron in blue( which is one of my favorite GM colors along with the green interiors) not even in the early 80s almost all were Gold, Brown, Green or Red. I love the analog full gauge cluster I get Adams concern about the digital cluster would likely be an expensive repair if needed.

    Interestingly the CHMSL ('86 was first year) was not moved to the rear 'bar' or higher in the rear backlite since this car has the trunk lid luggage rack. Anything put there will likely block the CHMSL. Perhaps the rack was a DIO.
