    Bought my top for my ap1 from eBay. Had it installed by a professional for 300.00. Looks great after two years. OEM top was over 2,000.00 plus installation

    Ok, if anyone is watching this and wondering, you dont have to remove all the interior peices to change the soft top. You will have to remove some but a lot of people make changing the soft top in the s2k a lot harder than it needs to be. It's not an easy job. It's very meticulous and time consuming... IT SUCKS! so theres no need making it suck worse by removing all the trim peices
    Removing all the trim peices on the inside might make it a little more accessible but in reality... if all you do is remove the seats and all the nessesary trim peices that come into contact or directly interfere access to hardware securing the top, it will make this job as painless as it needs to be. And in a lot of cases, all you need to do is loosen some bolts and not actually take out the trim. Also, having 2 hands is basically a requirement for this job. I've done it twice and both times it sucked ass. Regardless this job sucks ass

      Agreed. It was our first time attempting one and basically followed advice and forums on how to do it. It wasn't fun at all but figured why not make a video on how we did it. Good advice and suggestions for others. Thanks for the input!

      @@nadiyazbeck9476 In my honest opinion you could leave most of the seat stuff in but I would take it out because the more room you have to work with the better. This was our first one we've ever done so I'm sure once you do a few of them there are little tricks you can do to save time but we wanted to show the whole experience so if someone were to try to tackle this for the first time they could do so successfully

      @@UnifiedRacingChannel oh okay, makes sense. And is it possible to remove the top without cutting it or would that be too complicated? I like the idea of having a spare roof just in case hahahaha

      @@nadiyazbeck9476 It is possible for sure to keep your old one but mine sucked so it just made it more roomy by cutting it and to cut down on time

    Is the top still really tight and hard to close or has it loosened up like oem?

      I sold this car a couple years back but it did loosen up after a few uses but it was super tight after initial install

      Just did a NA Miata with my sister's fiance, that was a pain in the ass. Not difficult by any means, just tedious and time consuming. Not excited to do this to my S2k 😬

       If you have a garage, I think it's quite a nice job to do :) I think it's a very rewarding job! E.g. a timing belt replacement , you get filthy and it doesn't actually change anything haha. The car still drives like it did before if yuo know what I mean XD

    It looks like you put the straps on the wrong bolts, that's why it's so tight.

    • @UnifiedRacingChannel
      @UnifiedRacingChannel  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They were actually on the right bolts but they were to be behind the metal plate for a cleaner install. It gave us a little more room going in front of the plate. All new tops are tight. After 2 weeks of keeping it closed it opens and closes no problem. Just need a little stretch

    I buy a ton of shit from ebay including turbos and they work great. Stuff like this I wouldn't risk it. You just have to use your head. If you're stupid, then just spend the extra money to avoid risk.

    eBay isn’t a brand. So buying on eBay makes no difference, you buy a range of brands within ebay.

    • @UnifiedRacingChannel
      @UnifiedRacingChannel  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We understand that but it helps people with making the decision on a different choice. This soft top helps people who want to save a little money on a product that looks great and fits well!

    • @UnifiedRacingChannel

      Also I'd like to add is of course you can buy from legit stores and legit brands on ebay but we were more pointing out the cheap look a likes that tend to not fit and/or break easily
