My biggest tip for coming out is to really assess the situation before saying anything. If you feel like coming out can put you in danger in any way, it’s sadly probably best to stay closeted for the time being. On the other hand, maybe rethink who your friends are if they aren’t willing to accept and support you for coming out. This is all in my opinion though. You know your friends and family a lot more than me, so do what you think is best
I wish I could join the GSA club in my school, I would totally go but, my mom wouldn’t pick me up afterwards because she doesn’t want me to join the club because she doesn’t really accept me.... :((( But, I really want to go because I want to be somewhere where I feel accepted.

Ask if they do any other stuff (like volunteering days, movie nights, etc.) or suggest to them that they have a morning meeting once a month for those who may not be able to make it in the afternoons. That’ll also give you the opportunity to ask if there’s any information they hand out during the meetings like interesting articles, event calendars, or fun coloring sheets. Best of luck though. I know that can be really frustrating...I hope things work out.

Hey thanks for this video because it was really informative since my best friend and I are setting up an LGBT+ club in our school. We don't know of any other LGBT+ clubs near us so we had to come up with all our ideas but this had some ideas that we didn't think I'd so thank you so much!

We actually held our first meeting for the club today and we decided to create a GSA club executive board of 5-7 members where we can plan the content for the next week's club meeting. Hopefully, this will prevent anyone from feeling too small within the club as well as prevent any confusion within the meetings.
That’s great! A team effort is a fantastic way to getting differing viewpoints and ideas. That’s how we run my college LGBTQ+ club since it’s so big. Proud of you all!

My friend and I want to start an LGBTQ+ club at our secondary school because our school has been trying to be more accepting. Our ms drama teacher and ms (reg) Art teachers would be great sponsors. But our principal has to approve and we have to get a bunch of signatures and people interested. Then we need a meeting day and stuff but the thing is both of us aren’t out to our parents so we’ll have to lie abt where we are going if we start it. But hopefully we can try and start one next semester or next year.
Me and 3 of my friends are starting a GSA at our school, and our first meeting is tomorrow. I'm trying to get an idea of what we're gonna do for the first meeting, so I'm doing some major research lol
Nice! Try to outline and inform people of what your goal is with having this GSA. Maybe throw in an icebreaker (if people are up for it) and let them ask questions if they have any. But mostly just be yourself and have fun :) good luck and great job!
I'd suggest trying to find other lgbt+ people who can provide you with support and company. If your school has a GSA or something similar you could try going to that or start one if you feel comfortable doing so. You can also try looking for lgbt youth groups outside of school or online. Honestly I don't know what I should do for my GSA club like on the first day should I make posters? Or like explain all the terms for LGBTQ+ and I need to hurry up and figure out cause I need to have days already set up by the end of the summer to show my principal.
Well you make posters and flyers beforehand. That way you can get them approved so you can hang them up around the school (at least that’s how my school worked). Just put general info like the location and time for the first meeting on it. Treat first meetings like the hook to a persuasive essay. You want it to be inviting and relaxed. It’s a time for you to introduce yourself, what the club has planned in the next few meetings, and open up to any questions. I know a lot of clubs also do ice breakers on their first meeting, but that can also be a bit overwhelming for some. Make the first meeting your own and do what you think is best. You know your school more than I do of course.
