I agree on the Sony RX100 being a really nice camera. A VII popped up here in Colorado for $800, just like you said. I just picked up the next best thing last night, a Panosonic DC-ZS200 for $200 which is great since these normally go for $450-550. It does have a gouge in the LCD, but it doesn't affect the performance. Some LOCA glue and a glass screen protector should hide the scratch nicely. It's my new (used) backcountry camera, replacing my SX280HS.
I have two Sony cameras from the same approximate era as the ones in this video. An SLT-A57, and a DSC-W610, and they take both the SD cards and the Sony type cards. This was a fun video, and this camera seems like a decent little travel camera. Hope you make a tidy profit on them!
Thanks Bill, even with the broken cameras, it all turned out good! I think there was a Sony Alpha DSLR that I saw once that had SD/Memory Stick pro duo & Compact flash, so 3 different card options!
This was a government liquidation auction, so YMMV, as a lot of these are pickup only, so you have to be within driving distance, but there are a variety of websites. I use Sierra Auction quite a bit here in Arizona (private party auction that often liquidates government assets).
@@billr6983 I suspect yes, some sort of class and/or for yearbook and school paper (do they still have those?) journalism. When I was in school, it was 100% film and was all done ad hoc with equipment owned by the students. I don't think my middle or high school owned any cameras for these purposes.
I have just been binging on these videos. Thank you. Are you still making them.
Very cool! Its been some months but hopefully have some new stuff out soon
Something I don't understand is why people don't take the labels off of cameras.
❤ they look gross with the label on 🎉
Always enjoy these videos, great work 👍
Thanks 👍
Nice video, as always! Good luck with the sales! 👍
Fingers crossed! Thanks Johny!
Nice haul !!

Very nice! That's a killer deal on the ZS200, have a good time with it!

2010 they shipped 108 million compact digital cameras. In 2023 it was just 1.7 million.
Yep. Smartphones killed off compact cameras years ago. Luckily we still have lots of older ones to choose from.
How can i buy these in bulk quantities

Gotta wonder what role these filled in a school district.
Photography and/or journalism classes and/or yearbook photography?

I think so...Perhaps school paper, and yes, they still have 'em, (at least my kids' high school has both yearbook and school paper).
I have HX5V which is same in terms of looks
