- We jump right into a most unusual camera pickup I had plus about a dozen more untested cameras. From point and shoot digital cameras to DSLR cameras with some cool lenses, this video has it all in some neat vintage digital cameras. I'll go through testing all of these and providing some estimates on value, and see if I can hit the $1k target for this video!

what got you started doing this anyways?
I started out my "professional career" at an electronics retailer, then moved into a buyer/merchant position where I worked directly with Canon/Nikon/Sony/Panasonic ordering cameras for my company at the times' half dozen retail stores and booming online business. I was there during the height of the point and shoot/Mirrorless boom of 2009-2013, and then worked at another big e-tailer, and started selling used electronics on eBay/Amazon as a side hustle, and then started making more money on that than my "regular" job. I do other categories too beyond just cameras, lots of coins/stamps, AV equipment, historical memorabilia, and more.
that Samsung is unique in that it has no infrared filter, so you can throw an r72 filter on it and it will still auto focus and take photos except they will be infrared😊
The ex2 does that ?.
I kept my Nikon D70 for the same reason. I have 720 and 850nm filters.

that white Samsung is super clean. and that D90 took some GORGEOUS pics. A couple of great snags!
Yeah, those surprised me honestly, I've been taking pics with dozens of various cameras/lens combos over the last 90 days and the D90's were in the top 5 even compared to quite a bit more expensive setups.

About the dusty lenses/sensors, I saw an interesting take on how to possibly clean them up a little. I haven't tried it myself and this is 2nd hand info but anyway, one guy says he'll find a plastic bottle approx the size of the lens, cut the bottom out and tape the top to a vaccuum hose. then he places the bottle around the lens, turns the vaccuum on and extends and retracts the lens over and over again while the vaccuum runs. The guy says it works in a lot of cases for him.
Great tip! I will attempt this hopefully shortly and will mention its result in the video I make after I try it!
Maybe for a lense. Not so sure about doing that with a sensor.
Ya, possibly between the lens barrel interlocking tubes , in and out.
Who knows, there are many last ditch efforts to try .. before the hammer. 💪
the D90 is a wonderful camera. I sold many prints made with it and a Tamron 10-24 wide-angle zoom 🙂

The D90 was good camera and you might be able to get a reasonable amount for it, with the lens you showed, if both are in decent shape. I see used D90's still going for $150+ in good shape. The problem with many cheaper / lower-end cameras like the other Nikon DSLR you showed is that they only have a 150k shutter life, so if it has 100k shots on it, it's likely it will have an issue within the next few years, as some are known to even fail before 100k (ones that were rated for 150-200k). Luckily shutter replacement isn't the end of the world, but would run someone about $250-$350 still.
Love that Nikon D40(x). Nice and small. Lightweight. I like it doesn’t have the top plate LCD.
I actually prefer the regular D40 with only 6MP CCD.. Instead of the DX with 10MP CCD.
D4O has warmer tones and nice white clouds/ warm blue sky’s. Must be the processor. 🤷🏻♀️
I just picked up a Panasonic dmcfz20. For 37 dollars. On goodwills auction. I seen it listed for 12 bucks a buy it now was 20. Now I usally do not buy a camera with a fixed lense. Just small digital ones I buy. Now the lumix came with two batteries holds charges. And the charger. With a sd card. At times you’ll find something priced wrong for the cheap. Jump on it. Never know. The camera takes really nice pictures. Light and easy to carry
that lens on the nikon is amazing. just commenting as watching. got the canon version. as sharp as a n l series lens.
All cool cameras but my favourite of course is that Canon G2 :))

It's not variable as far as I'm aware, yeah pretty cool indeed.
I found a Nikon F70 on a trash container today, so I went through your inspection procedure:
++no corrotion on battery compartment.
--eyecup missing
--black rubber on front is great, but on back needs heavy cleaning.
++LCD looks great
--some scratches on flash edges, and around botton 1/4 inch.
++film comparment looks good
--no lens, accessories or box.
ebay shows value range for 20 to 70. So not worth the effort of working on, I will find someone to give it to. Thanks.

That last box seemed a little suspicious to me, like someone was trying to offload some less than favorable stock and listed as untested to hide their deceptiveness. Thanks for the video's.
Perhaps! This supplier is generally pretty honest but I’ve been fleeced before 🐑
Think again on the Canon Powershot G2 for $50 dollars. They have skyrocketed so much recently that I am holding on to mine until its at least $200. I paid $12 for mine untested.

Love watching these videos, just got a Coolpix 8800 for like $18 usd that mostly works (flash has to be pulled up and enter button is not working, meaning date cant be set) but it's still a really fun superzoom with a pretty large sensor. Not sure about resale value with these issues though
Very cool! I've shot with the 8800 a bit. It's a fun camera indeed! I would think with those issues given it does otherwise take pictures, it would be in the USD $35-45 range
There are three great German lens makers. Leica, of course. Zeiss. And Schneider--which is what you have on that lovely white Samsung. I have a Schneider Xenotar on my Rolleiflex, and man is it brilliant.

1st one was an ebay auction, but do more with in goodwill's retail stores, salvation army, etc.
I have seen all of the untested camera videos of yours. I love the more "classic" DSLR's. I would never sell any of mine. But I don't think I have seen any FF cameras, maybe a couple of mirrorless, on your channel. Here in Norway there is a lot, maybe not "a LOT", of used Canon FF 8-15 year old FF's on the used market. Is that different in the US of A? :)
Are still just 8 min in, maybe it will change with this one. :)
And the reason why I say "Canon" is because that is what I use, there are many really good brands on the market.

@@daktarioskarvannederhosen2568 It depends on the age and shutter count and so on. I like old DSLR's. I paid 180 USD (about) for a pretty nice 5D MK2. An EOS 6D....300-350 USD. I bougth mine new 12 years ago, about 1600 USD. I love it!!
I have shot a lot of cameras, Phase One, Hasselblad (BOT mine). I always come back to older Canon DSLR's. They are reliable, relatively portable...and have exelent colors. :)
I've had a few full frame Canons, although not to many, and some mirrorless. I think the biggest reason for this is not lack of availability in the US market, but just that most people realize there is some value even in older more "premium" models and they don't get included in the larger lots I buy that often..

Sure, do you have any identifying info like brand/model, any thing on the camera body or inside the battery area?
@@pricklypearcamera thank you , I think it was a Fuji . Small , round log/ tube shape , sliding lens cover on front , grey with sort of light smoky blue on the lens cover . From about 03 or 04 , TINY rear screen

No need to use a website to check the shutter count. Any app that shows the EXIF data will tell you what the count is.

At least here in the US, in the exact condition you stated I would list it and sell it at around $150, so maybe 140 💶. So I think 95 is too low personally

Karma? I just bought a D40X with a Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR lens. I paid $150, and I'm very happy with it. The value of these is probably rising because of the 10.2 megapixel CCD sensor, a desirable "retro" spec which a lot of digicams have, and its ability to use most F-mount lenses, which digicams of course cannot do.

“sharp snap” to break it free, without the possibility of denting or cracking the plastic barrel.
I don't get how p&s cameras still have a used value when everyone is shooting with their phones which are instantly connected. DSLRs I get but not p&s.
