      No doubt about it. Wouldn't prevent me from buying one, but if I'm on the fence aesthetics could be the deciding factor, and I've never been a fan of their frame design ... This one looks gorgeous though, especially the purple.
      Plus I love how they keep the Fox Factory on their "lower" end build option (GX/NX). Ibis has definitely made my short list with this one (along with Pivot, Santa Cruz and Transition).

    Not that I felt the older Ibis were ugly, just not appealing to my aesthetically, that straight top tube makes for a much better looking bike. Really liking that frame.

    It makes perfect sense to put DC for bike as such. I do not understand why manufactures are excluding it from warranty. Would be probably safer then SC ZEB 180/190 anyway and it's not like we have crises of head tube separation all over the place. and for hitting frame with uppers wouldn't knock block headset prevent that?

    • @TheLoamRanger
      @TheLoamRanger  ปีที่แล้ว

      The bike can handle it, for sure, but it's just the fact that it is not an intended use case for the bike, so it wasn't put through specific dual crown test procedures to give it the official thumbs up.

    • @TheLoamRanger
      @TheLoamRanger  ปีที่แล้ว

      Normally I run an XL with a 35mm stem for Ibis bikes. I’m 6’1”. For the HD6 though, I essentially wanted to make it a fun park bike, so I decided to size down to a large, which has 474mm reach. I then went with a 50mm stem to balance things out a bit. It all worked out much better than expected haha. The bike feels great.

    Are you going to leave the dorado on? I would like to see how long that ultra short headtube will hold up to that much leverage.

    • @TheLoamRanger
      @TheLoamRanger  ปีที่แล้ว

      It won't have an issue. This frame is incredibly strong. As far as short head tubes with dual crowns, check out a lot of the World Cup DH field. Most bikes have very short head tubes in order to give the racers and mechanics maximum stack height adjustability.

    • @bermroller
      @bermroller ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheLoamRanger "How to void your new bikes warranty" ok :)
      If you're on a size 3 (large) the head tube is 91mm, significantly shorter than what the DH bikes with the shortest head tubes have, the Specialized Demo at 105mm in all sizes, and the Pivot Phoenix at 106mm in all sizes. Most other brands having taller head tubes like Trek Session 117mm, Commencal Supreme DH V5 and Mondraker Summum 112mm, Cube 124mm. Some exceptions like the Nukeproof Dissent 110mm in large, 105mm in medium, and 100mm in small, but with a massive diameter for reach adjust headset.
      The HD6 head tubes are different for each size though so I would grant you being technically right if youre on size 4 at 100mm, or size 5 at 115mm, but only right in length alone. You have to admit that the head tube area is not nearly as overbuilt as a DH bike. You say "It won't have an issue" but you don't really know if that's true, if it was then Ibis would officially ok it.
