Little did you know that there’s another hidden Gem just down the road in McBride! The Robson Valley is really starting to embrace the mtb scene (25 years after we started!) so glad you made a video of Vale! Thanks 🎉
Well you need to keep Tumbler Ridge on your radar. Valemount is amazing and we are replicating what they have done! Tumbler Ridge has great snowmobiling, hikes to over 40 waterfalls. Tumbler Ridge Mountain Bike Association is working hard to put the north on the map for epic biking. TRMBA built a pumptrack in the community with Velosolutions. First pumptrack in Northern bc! and surrounding community's are starting to catch on. The District of Tumbler Ridge has been very supportive with biking infrastructure by allowing builds on the land for the pumptrack and funding the jump park with Axis Mountain Techincal. The ridge project broke ground last year with trials on designated land. Phase 1 completed with 1 up trail and 2 down trails. Master plan slated for a 3.5 million dollar project as funding permits. Sorry for the shameless plug but there is alot of great riding to be had in northern bc.
I'll piggyback your comment and mention Dawson Creek as well. We don't have a ton of vertical but make up for it with a fun little trail network at Bear Mountain
That is so good to hear, well done to all involved. Human powered outdoor fun is so terribly underfunded and underdeveloped in Northern BC. Starting to see the emergence of embryonic trail networks in a variety of towns in the Northen BC area. Hope to see them grow exponentially! Very much looking forward to being able to access and enjoy the TR MTB trail network at sometime in the future. Keep up the good work and enjoy!
I'm in Lakeview, OR, a town if 2500 in rural southern Oregon. We are currently in the very early phases of getting mountain bike trails on our county-owned ski hill. As the guy spearheading the project I really enjoyed this video, was great to see an even smaller community putting something like this togerther. I'd love to have you check out our hill when we get it going!
Awesome video. I'm in Calgary now, and it blows my mind that we have nothing for riding. Furthermore, they announced they are logging Moose Mountain and West Bragg Creek. I had family in Valemount growing up, and the change there is truly amazing. It's an example of sustainable development that deserves recognition! Thanks for the vid 🍻
Great video! I love how communities around BC are embracing the sport as an economic driver for local business. Already shared with riding buddies, we will go check it out and be sure to hit the shops and brewery
Thats so nice to see. We live in a small town in east germany and we fought 20 years with the red table and the cityhall dinosaurs to get our trail Center despite the fact that we the oldest downhill race track from germany since the early 90s. It took two generations of riders to get it finally done. Best regards from Thuringia. ❤
In the 90s I built a race course for training in my town park, One spring we were cleaning up to ride it and the park ranger walked up and commented that she never knew this trail was here. LOL we said, "yeah, it;s fun to ride"
We shuttled it with sxs this summer and that place is something else, so wild and I'm from Valemount here so I'm not complaining, if only that road gets some money 🤑
Probably the best mtb experience of my life. Did a solo trip there, and was unbelievable memories. The shuttle was closed but everyone kept offering each other rides, it was awesome. Plus I camped on canoe mountain, which was incredible.
This is literally the coolest destination spot in the Robson Valley. The backpacking and cabins in the area are some of the best I've ever been in. There are incredible backcountry skiing locals too. Valemount has been an absolute FORCE for tourism in the Valley, its insane. Just need a climbing scene and they'll have the trifecta of summer stuff alongside the trifecta of winter stuff they already have.
Valemount is awesome. Couldn't believe how good their trail system was when I first went. And that was 5 years ago. Side note - my partner snapped her wrist there too and now has a titanium plat and screws.
Sweet vid! Valemount has been on my radar as a "must visit" destination for a few years now... Hopefully I'll get there sooner rather than later! Hope Beth is recovering well - concussions can be NASTY!
Been to Valemount once for work, from Calgary. Have been wanting to go back for a riding trip and this just confirms it! On the list for this season for sure.
Great video. Valemount has been a go to for us for hiking + snow machine for some time but I guess we'll have to take the MTBs along next time as well.. MTB has really changed the appeal of many small out-of-the-way places. Valemount has done amazing work
Looks great. If you are East you should visit another world class bike park in the middle of nowhere, no fast food for miles nor much of anything. Wheelerville, NY has done an outstanding job with their terrain. A magical and magnificent place to ride.
There is more then a 1000 people that live there lol been there more then once going home to the okanogon from the great white North! Awesome video & thank you for sharing with All of us TH-cam viewers
Awsome video, I rode there last summer on a cross bc bike trip. First time on the high roller trail, my buddy said the log “roll” was a drop so I popped off of it and landed so deep that it blew my right fork seal. The park itself was super unique. Would totally go back and ride.
Great Video! Vale is on the list of "must ride" bike parks after watching this. Its been a minutes since we've seen you here at Whitefish Mountain Bike Park. Would love to have you back! Let us know if you get back out this way! Keep up the great videos.
Had no idea u had a sim setup! Looks sweet! I've got the Alpha Mini. Reverse mount pedals too? Mtb and driving. Spirited and wheeled. Gotta be the secret sauce!
Just in the middle of building up my first proper rig 🤘 I’m a life-long rally fan, so I spend most of my time in Dirt Rally 2.0. I hear the Mini is fantastic.
@@TheLoamRanger Great for the money, I bought an ultimate over the winter to play EA WRC. Total overkill but works great. A mini would have been totally fine.
Should look into the story of derby here in Australia if you havent. Very similar history of a small town being resurrected by the community getting behind mountain biking including having the redbull hardline recently in tasmania. Is definitely a great place to ride here in the southern hemisphere
This looks amazing. I don’t care for huge bike parks and this place looks like the perfect MTB destination. Cool small town, killer park, laid back environment
I intended to explore more, but the line up of High Roller, Tinfoil Hat, Stumptown, and Moby Dick is hard to deviate from. I'm hoping to get back there later in the summer. The trailhead for the lowest third of the trails is about an hour to climb.
Arye, me and my USA wife did exactly the same thing here at Clyne Valley. Swansea City, Wales, Great Britain last June, 2023. We started cleaning, cutting every single trail and dirt jump, burm in the bike park, through freezing cold weather, and 9 months of rain. We stuck our middle finger up to red tape, beauracracy and went for it, with plastic rakes, gas powered hedge cutters and weed-grass cutters. My car that we used to travel from home to the bike park with our tools in, then packed up and I had to get rid of the car, and we burnt out the gas powered equipment. So we then bought hand shears, carried them down on our mtbikes to the bike park. Hide the tools in the forest after a hard days work, then pedal back home daily up a mountain to. We've encountered verbal threats, manipulation, deceit, corruption and downright hostility from some Elitist bullying thugs mtbikers. They even trashed some of our tools also. They've insulted my American wife, that's when I went after the ring leader and confronted him, they leave us alone now. I've almost been bitten by venomous snake's (Adder's-vipers) whilst exposing old trails and jumps. Been verbally assaulted by other mountain biker's and ramblers. We've paid for everything out of our own pockets, did all the work ourselves, and we put the entire 1,100 mtbike group members to shame, who still do very little, yet still ride the trails. We also exposed the corruption in the local mountain bike shop. We ask for no thanks, no respect. We just got on with it. We're 99% there, we have 50 metres left to go of the last 100 metre sprint of the last lap in a manner of speaking, and it will be finished. Whilst the local mtbike riding group are still waiting, and have been waiting five year's for the local County hall, to act in getting the bike park up to the standard of other bike parks. If I'm honest the park was a dump but now it's incredible again. We've also opened up trails, burnws and dirt jumps that ain't been used whatsoever for 20 year's. This is an inspiring video, we'll done to those villagers. Thanks dudes.
I would never have ventured to Valemount if it wasnt for content creators showing it off. Truely awesome trails and super nice people! The wood log bakery (whats the name?) is amazing when its open!
I live in Valemount and my son regularly used the mountain bike park as a teenager. I drove he and his friends to the top of the trails many times so they could fly down the trails at top speed. Watching the video just now made my eyes go big a few times because I had no idea how challenging and high speed it was to come down these trails. Incredible footage. Also the first image in the video after you come off your first run is of our farm on Buffalo Rd. 😊
Love Valemount. If you're on this channel, we already know that MTB can be high risk - this park is on the higher end of that spectrum. Full face helmets recommended.
Great video - Any comments on how long the shuttle ride is to the top and what the ride is like? Bumpy dirt roads, smooth gravel, paved? Looks like they were using nice vans with trailers.
Valemount is amazing. It's our favourite place to be. Full of awesome people and so many things to do. You've got it all wrong though, Valemount is not the middle of nowhere, it's "the middle of everywhere"!
