- High-grade counterfeit cash is making its way into stores in Bucks County, and police are asking for the public's help to shut it down.
Newtown Township police are hoping someone can help them identify two suspects who were captured on surveillance video using fake cash. #pennsylvania

I worked at a place where my coworker took a fake hundred-dollar bill. When he called the police, the cop said that it's a federal matter and he couldn't do anything about it.
It’s a local matter but requires the US Secret Service to investigate and corroborate with expert testimony. The feds can take over the case if it develops into a large scheme as this one seems potentially.

Years ago I was working at a retail store and I wondered why I hadn't seen a certain guy working there for weeks. Found out he was making counterfeit money on his scanner and got caught using it in the store. The Feds caught him.

The US Secret Service is responsible for verifying counterfeit money. They will step into larger cases, especially if these people cross over into NJ. Otherwise, the local cops can prosecute smaller-scale cases with a Secret Service agent as an expert witness.
There will be no booking in jail that is a federal offense and will do 15 years in federal prison per person.
They could be held up in jail, just maybe. Sometimes jails hold federal offenders for the feds due to overhaul and overflow (or for whatever reason) until conviction time, but they're gonna bond out.
