This, combined with the Trixie & Katya review of the movie, makes me feel like I’ve seen and enjoyed the new Lindsay Lohan movie without having to actually watch the new Lindsay Lohan movie
My biggest issue was that she was famous enough to promote the Inn and “save it” but not famous enough to be recognized by ANYONE IN THE WHOLE TOWN THE ENTIRE TIME SHE WAS THERE 😭 like they literally showed them watching her on TV 😂💀
Am I the only one who kept thinking the whole time that this is literally just a Christmas version of the movie Overboard with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell? 🤣
Also, the actress that played Lindsays mom in the Parent Trap, Natasha Richardson, literally died because of a skiing accident. So that was wild to witness.
"People die while skiing" was literally my thought when she hits the tree. We see news articles fairly often about people dying from that exact sort of thing. Heck, or even running to other skiers.
@@lola_waterton Oh, I didn't know that. How sadly ironic you mentioned that, being that she starred in The Parent Trap with Lohan. Earlier this year we did have a teenager die from a collision with another skier here in Utah ☹
Am I the only one that when they started taking about the "I SAW THAT YOU NASTY" shirt I read it with a That's So Raven sass? Like you know, "I saw that... YA NasTY!"
Lindsay had actually been living in Dubai for a majority of the last decade. Her beach club was in Greece, but it seems like she was only there for a short period of time when filming that
I think it's less about Tad's sexuality and more that introducing the idea at the very end (and not really directly) feels like some last-minute, check-all-the-boxes thought. They had POC in positions of authority and a biracial family/child, but no queer characters, so better shove that one on in. Something I could see being added to Zach's opinion about this feeling like a republican/MAGA creation; that typically this sort of movie would be completely white bread, so were the POC characters *really* about inclusion and representation, or just to appear so 🤷♀
1. Zach as a fellow Jew I strongly relate to your grinch-like view of Christmas movies 😅 2. I need a live watch party. Just…the CHAOS. The beautiful beautiful chaos.
Propaganda?! So when all the latest hollywood movies and tv shows have vegan propganda and all they talk about is how veganism is good, normal eating lifestylea are bad, that s good?! That doesn t bother you ofc
He’s not even my type but even I can agree he’s handsome. Maybe because the background context of glee makes him more appealing to those who’ve seen it? Not sure
Agreed. I mean, she overcame her demons and is healthy again. I hope and pray the media says sorry to her. I've been a fan of hers since '98 and I backed her during her troubled patches. I'm glad she sobered up for real. LiLo deserves an overdue media apology, Pokhraj. She is a great talent and has worked with greats like Kevin Kline, Anthony Hopkins, Demi Moore, Virginia Madsen and even Woody Harrelson.
So this is it. These are my guilty pleasures. I recognise that all the Netlfix Christmas Hallmark-esque films are CATEGORICALLY BAD and I LOVE THEM. I can predict them all, I start watching them in November and enjoy every second of it.
Oh my God, I just realized that the yellow diamond could’ve been a purposeful call back to Lindsay Lohan in Get A Clue 😂 I don’t know if it actually was the intention but I wish it was~
My suspicion is that the mom died of Covid if the movie takes place in 2022. They said that she “got sick” 2 years ago which would’ve been the height of the pandemic 😬
Was anyone else annoyed by how much of a caricature Tad was? I mean his thing with Ralph is really funny and cute, but he was just so obviously unlikeable from his first entrance. (No judgement on the actor though, just the direction/writing)
As someone who has been subjected to torturous hours of Hallmark Channel movies since Thanksgiving, I feel like Netflix just wanted to cash in on the audience who loves that channel and the cookie cutter storylines. Also, not sure if I'd say that there are intentionally political statements underlying, but I do think there are certain people with certain beliefs who write and cast these movies.
Thank you! Thank you Zach! I said basically the same thing about Xmas movies especially with this new Tim Allen Santa movie and everyone jumped on me for being too sensitive but I mean COME ON, this time of year is about shoving Christianity down your throat and flaunting your wealth through excessive spending on gifts and ridiculous Xmas decorations. I've been running food deliveries in Southlake Texas becus its so rich over there and my god MY GOD, ive seen literal marble statues that were clearly dragged out just for Xmas decorations like wtf 😳 meanwhile im tryna run enough driving promotions so I have enough gas to get to work this week 💀
As someone who is queer, it’s difficult to hear how people dismiss queer, bi, and pan people. Just because Tad moved on with someone who is a man doesn’t necessarily mean he is and was always gay. He may have always been queer. But no one acknowledges that :/ I don’t want to dismiss his attraction to the character Sierra JUST because he moved on with a person who isn’t feminine presenting.
Hot take: I really appreciate Zach's analysis of this style of Christmas movie. There are certain ones I loved growing up, but he has some really valid points! I was a little taken aback by how his perspective as a Jewish man was kind of dismissed by everyone else in the room. Love everyone there, and the whole team is typically so thoughtful and inclusive, so it caught me by surprise! Zach's a truth-telling king and we love him for it 💚
I think the thing that Zach is picking up on with Christmas movies being Repub propaganda is because Hallmark and Lifetime made the template for Holiday movies and they originally were written for a very specific demographic - so of course they were good ol' boy movies. Anything riffing off of that template without purposefully satirizing the right wing dog whistling is going to feel that way even if it's unintentional. Pair that with the weird patriotism that the right wing has whipped up around the supposed "war on Christmas," and most Christmas things just feel weirdly republican for better or for worse.
What’s funny about them saying they didn’t think Lindsay Lohan knew what a podcast was, is I’m pretty sure I’ve heard ads for Lindsay lohan’s podcast while listening on Spotify. Lmao
Everytime I see Chord Overstreet I think of the nickname Santana gives his character in Glee which is "Fish lips." Immediately erases any and all thoughts of attraction whenever I see him 🙈
Netflix really likes to grab up glee actors for these movies! First Harry, now Chord (I don’t think this’ll ever happen, but if you wanted to do shows, Glee should be on the top of the list)
I think the biggest thing Christmas movies do is the escape from capitalism. Every woman goes to a small town where money isn't as important and maybe love and the spirit of community is the greatest gift of all. Also sells some sort of narrative that domesticity is the dream of all women. But guys this is my minions rant lol I'll write an actual thesis on this shit and it's just a xmas movie haha
Lindsay Lohan deserves a media apology. I mean, LiLo was kicked by the media between 2007 and 2013 and the media just bullied her when she was getting help at the time. Therefore, the media should say sorry to Lindsay right now.
I knew that the diamond was super expensive but I still thought it was extremely ugly hahaha it looks like a ring that would come out of a gum-ball machine
I have a pitch for Freaky Friday 2: Lindsay's character is a single parent with twins, trying to re-enter the workforce with little luck. Jamie-Lee is busy with the launch of her own Dr Phil style talk show. The twins somehow mess up the taping and LiLo and Jamie-Lee get into a big fight about how the former is a bad parent and how the latter is never there for her family while pursuing the spotlight. Maybe it's another fortune cookie incident, maybe it's something else but somehow they get switched again, Lindsay learns her mother's life isn't all it's cracked up to be (cheating partner, massive pressure to nail the landing on the talk show) and Jamie-Lee realises Lindsay is just trying her hardest. Lindsay, through having to do several tapings of her mother's show, realises that she would make a great therapist. Roll credits. Post-credit scene--Lindsay and Jamie Lee are co-hosts of the show. ~the end~
Agree Netflix is churning out too much content with wildly uneven quality which cannibalizes its own product, but I think they've done a lot to mainstream foreign language and diverse content + take a risk on financing high-quality projects other studios wouldn't. Other than Squid Game/Stranger Things in the last year they've released Sandman, 1899, Heartstopper, Arcane, etc. I think audiences are supporting a lot of these kind of romcoms and reality shows (which are relatively cheaper/addictive) and that holds over subscribers for when tentpole/awards film/series come out (which is ~once a month).
When Garrick had the theory about Netflix making fake movies to show on the screen made me think of a movie that you guys should totally watch. Everything Everywhere All at Once. I would love to listen to you guys chat about this movie. It has a fake movie that they show on the tv and it is hilarious.
I did a double take at Garrick’s hot pants then got called out (accurately) by his sweater. I can’t… look away. I’m sorry I’ve objectified you Garrick 😭😭😭 Also, fun episode 😂
are we not going to talk about the fact that Garrick is wearing SHORTS??? his thicc thighs save lives
And I’m appreciating this as a lesbian
@@atomkath Hot ass legs. Thank you Garrick. what a present

Exact same

Garrick's whole outfit is giving me "fall in California is a confusing time", and I am here for it!!

It makes me feel like they’ve never seen it and I want them to watch it so badly!!!!
@@maggiemcgee123 omg I would absolutely love it if they watched overboard!!! 😍 I feel like it’s a movie Kelsey would also try very hard to defend 🤣
Overboard is the best!!!

Exactly
Also, the actress that played Lindsays mom in the Parent Trap, Natasha Richardson, literally died because of a skiing accident. So that was wild to witness.
Zach being late to a meeting but refusing to leave in order to continue talking about this movie had me howling
Reminded me of how Rhymes with Dead always rushed out of the podcasts for meetings 🙄
"People die while skiing" was literally my thought when she hits the tree. We see news articles fairly often about people dying from that exact sort of thing. Heck, or even running to other skiers.
That's how Liam Neeson's wife died
Sonny Bono also ran into a tree.
@@lola_waterton Oh, I didn't know that. How sadly ironic you mentioned that, being that she starred in The Parent Trap with Lohan.
Earlier this year we did have a teenager die from a collision with another skier here in Utah ☹
@@lola_waterton mhm. Rip Natasha Richardson. It is also how Gasper Ulliard died :(
that how my friend Michael died, he was an expert level skier. one bad fall was all it took.
Am I the only one that when they started taking about the "I SAW THAT YOU NASTY" shirt I read it with a That's So Raven sass? Like you know, "I saw that... YA NasTY!"
YES ZACH! DIG INTO THEM! this is my favorite episode so far. i'd love for zach's monologue to be a whole thing. i'd listen to it for sure.
Lindsay had actually been living in Dubai for a majority of the last decade. Her beach club was in Greece, but it seems like she was only there for a short period of time when filming that
Love that sneaky little Ghost Files rep 👻
It’s not too deep, but I don’t know why we’re acting like Tad can’t be bisexual
I think it's less about Tad's sexuality and more that introducing the idea at the very end (and not really directly) feels like some last-minute, check-all-the-boxes thought. They had POC in positions of authority and a biracial family/child, but no queer characters, so better shove that one on in. I agree, I thought Kelsey would hype up the fact there was bisexual representation in a CHRISTMAS movie
Agreed. And it’s not like he didn’t hint to it earlier in the movie. There was his whole reaction to Ralph saying he had big feet.
A live watch along would BE AMAZING !! PLS DO IT
1. Zach as a fellow Jew I strongly relate to your grinch-like view of Christmas movies 😅
2. I need a live watch party. Just…the CHAOS. The beautiful beautiful chaos.
the best propaganda of the movie was making LiLo lose her vegetarian lifestyle lmao I was like why is this movie pro meat 😂
Propaganda?!
So when all the latest hollywood movies and tv shows have vegan propganda and all they talk about is how veganism is good, normal eating lifestylea are bad, that s good?! That doesn t bother you ofc
I thought Tad and Ralph were the true love story personally

Every merch idea mentioned was great and yes, PLEASE do a live watch along!
Between this and the TryPod it is clear that Zach is having an existential crisis right now. Aren't we all, though? You are not alone, Zach!
CHORD OVERSTREET IS, INDEED, HOT.
I had a crush on him back in his Glee days and I’m actually surprised he’s still handsome almost a decade later.
Im 100% with you on this.... I even like his music
He’s not even my type but even I can agree he’s handsome. Maybe because the background context of glee makes him more appealing to those who’ve seen it? Not sure
OMG I'M READY FOR A LIVE WATCH-ALONG!!
Foaming at the mouth right now lmfaoo
Hahaha I live for the title! Also, we’re all happy to see Lindsay Lohan making her comeback. She has good comic timing and no one can deny it.

I freaking love Kelsey for bringing up Just My Luck and Chris Pine.
This is asking if they can please cover A Muppets Christmas Carol this year. It is the BEST Christmas movie.
also felt that the girl pushing her dad's hair aside was also a Mean Girls reference, cuz Lilo likes his hair pushed back ;)
I genuinely think we’ll watch this every year JUST for Lilo singing jingle bell rock in the car
Didn't know you guys had your own channel. That explains why I hadn't seen a video in a while. Glad I found you.
Does anyone else think that Chord Overstreet is what we expected Macaulay Culkin was gonna look like when he grew up?
So....the canary diamond HAS to be a call back/Easter egg to the CLASSIC movie "Get a Clue" like...it has to be.
