  • Preheat, grind, tamp, see saw. Some simple steps to make an absolutely incredible cup with incredibly precise (and easy) control. The Uniterra Nomad has, simply put, been a slept on bargain.
    I've just been informed there is a 3D print mod to raise the machine. here is the link!

    Can't believe this video actually happened. The Nomad is such a fun machine to use and I'm so happy it is getting the exposure now. For folks new to espresso, you get incredible flexibility (sprovers, blooming, turbo, etc) in a compact machine and it is a machine that can grow with your skills. The performance and price are absolutely slept on.
    For new and current Nomad owners I'd suggest you pick up an additional coffee tray to speed up your workflow and get a 3D printed riser stand to allow you to fit scales/cups.
    See-saws are the future my friends.

    Love the review. This was my first ever espresso machine, and I've loved it from day one. Even though I now have a Robot I still haven't retired this little guy and I still love the shots I get from it. Since I got a good grinder I removed both the TCV and the mesh screen and love the rich texture you get with more fines. Love the 3D bases, but I made a wooden stand to raise it up to fit a scale underneath. I feel as though with all the extra attention there's a case for a Nomad 2.0 which addresses some of the niggly issues with the current version. Ps - in your video you mentioned that you get a second basket and tray with the Nomad, bit I think you only get one when you purchase it and have to buy the second (although they're only £30). Cheers Tom

    compared to DECENT (for example) how close can the Nomad get

    • @t0m714
      @t0m714 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In my experience the Nomad is more forgiving on grind quality and technique than the Robot - which makes it perfect for a beginner. The learning curve has been much steeper on the Robot, and whilst you can theoretically get a better final shot with the Robot, it's also easier to mess it up. You need a good grinder with something like the Robot or the Flair.

    • @LanceHedrick
      @LanceHedrick  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tom is dead on. I think you'll get better traditional style shots from a robot but you simply can't do anything too big there. I love massive shots and sprovers. So, the nomad is quite fun

    Is this actually a better buy than the Flair Signature at basically the same price point then? It seems to trump it in capability with that big water tank, require less preheating, and have a comparable level of portability (maybe a little less, but also probably the least important feature to most people...). Is it a significantly better buy than the Flair Pro 2, since the main advantage of the Pro 2 over the Classic/Signature is larger doses and brewhead capacity? You mentioned the shot quality of the Nomad is excellent, so are they pretty much comparable shots?

    I wonder if the height was on purpose so you'd pour closer to the cup, again to help with the whole crema thing. Plus like other suggested, if clearance is needed, a block to lift it is easy enough to get going, so it's not a big issue given how compact it already is and how little effort is required.
