  • Thankfully he was able to walk off under his own power. Praying that he only suffers a contusion/concussion from this play. Can’t think of anything scarier as an athlete doing their job…

When will they start wearing helmet?

Helmet would never work. These guys know the risk. No need and changing the game. Play something else if you can't stomach it

A helmet would just block their peripheral vision.

Pretty sure that would kill me. Hope he's okay, but what a man.

You can see the Reds batter in the back bent over in disbelief.

Wow, definitely hope he’ll be OK. It was great seeing him walk off the field, but you know he’s going to feel that later. That’s one of the scariest things about being a pitcher, because you never know when that can happen nor can you prepare for it. And as a batter you feel awful because that’s never your intention and all you can hope is that he’s alright…definitely scary

Yeah even though he walked off, you never know with brain trauma… praying he will be alright. Pitching has to be one of the more underrated dangerous activity in pro sports. You basically know about your choices when you play football, soccer with heading to a lesser degree, but when this happens it’s a miracle a lot of the time (i think) nothing extremely bad happens to them

@@GoldenSportsEnt Most of baseball is luck. Football, you can pull off a tackle if you know you're going headfirst. Soccer, going for headers is an entire tactic. There's a science to it. You don't quite get that with baseball. one moment, you could be in the dugout playing around with the boys, the next, you've blown out your arm, or got a liner to the face. Slim chances, but never 0.

Comebackers like that are scary man. I remember few odd years ago Dan Jennings, then of the Marlins got drilled and the sound it made after it hit him was awful

He’s lucky it hit the bill of his hat first. When the ball flys far after making contact it’s better than if it drops at your feet. If it drops down then that means you got it flush.
