Got Nebula last year almost as a "thank you for all the great service" in "The Friday Checkout". What a great surprise! I still use TH-cam Premium a lot more but I recognize that Nebula is #2 on my content ranking, way ahead of other streaming services... Thanks again!
No
Yeah, me too. M4 M5 M6 M7 …
You better delete this comment before apple sues you
Cool, now do exact release windows for the next 4 years, detailed BOM cost breakdowns per component, exact battery life tests per workload, release windows for other key components like tandem OLEDs, etc :)
@@TheFridayCheckout The component costs don’t matter, because all upgrades are $100 exactly. And battery life is always "all-day", because Apple will rather shrink the capacity and make the MacBook thinner and lighter. Starting price is $999 of course. And the new game you want to play is not available for Mac.

The photos re-appearing is way way more serious problem then people make it out to be.
That is a GIANT RED FLAG for any any all security and privacy.
Yep. That's a crazy privacy issue.
But if you use cloud storage that's something you should expect.
I'm honestly waiting for the day some cloud service gets hacked and a hacker releases a 1TB "proof" file of random peoples content.
I am not surprised that Qualcomm is selling their new ARM chips for Windows for basically nothing considering the performance. They basically have 0 marketshare in the desktop/laptop space. Once they have gained marketshare and leverage with their partners they will raise their prices in the coming generations. It's economics 101: undercut the competition for the same product, gain the marketshare and slowly raise prices over time so you can make some money. I would be surprised if Qualcomm makes money from their first generation of Desktop chips.
Just like Intel had to convince people to buy their graphic cards for next to nothing so they could get a sizeable marketshare going against the AMD / Nvidia duopoly.
You are looking at it the wrong way man. It just shows how greedy and inefficient intel is and how they have been holding back laptops for years now. They deserve the whopping they got by apple and amd.
Intel is a dying company, because of the energy inefficiency of x86 processors. You couldn’t put them in a phone or tablet, even if you payed your customers to do it. Only the shrinking market of desktop PCs is the last stronghold of Intel. The next generation Alpha won’t even learn how to use a mouse. PC builders are the aging Harley riders of Gen X. Soon enough their hobby to build the best ever 90s PC will look pathetic even to themselves. Maybe in the future some vintage clothing brand will re-print the Intel logo on bags and t-shirts. Other than Intel becoming retro cool (like PanAm) there’s no value left in the company.
@@jansix4287 x86 isn't inefficient. Tech enthusiasts keep spreading this lie. They are not programmers, and they have no idea how this stuff works.
The only difference is how the decode process works (Assembly code to binary). It might just be overcome by using larger die area to decode.
@@jansix4287 The truth is: Apple is just better. Until Qualcomm poached some of their employees and learned their secrets, no one could touch their design.
They also make chips that are more expensive to manufacture, with 4x the area of an Intel processor, and massive amounts of L3 cache.
@@Jadepeanut sorry, no, you are the one with the warped view where Intel is some great evil and some other company is comparatively or absolutely Jesus Christ to you.
Also, lol at AMD being any kid of "whopping" - not even close. AMD's current market shares are about the best they can get - their own fault really, I guess they dont want to play hardball when thats the game every other scum sucking company plays
After Google basically faked a demo video showing Gemini's vision capabilities, I do trust OpenAI more to deliver on their promises, given they had a rather natural live (!) demo.

Wait I wasn't aware of this and find it hard to Google what you're exactly referring to. I have a Dell laptop, do I need to be worried?

Nothing is deleted on the internet. Literally this is why so many phone manifacturers dropped the SD card and want people on cloud services (which are cheap af). Your data is always stolen, even if deleted.
People got photos back which were shot on their previous phone years ago.
Who's collecting all that data?
When you pointed out Apple, Google, and Microsoft owns their "Walled Gardens" their eco systems which is a hindrance to OPEN AI - holy crap - do what VALVE did - go linux.
Why everyone think linux will solve everything.. this is the same blindness like any other sheeps do, you like it and you use it, but not everyone find their hobby/work apps there.. and until it's basically unusable for the 80% of the world, nobody will facor it, just a few nerds..
valve "went linux"? eh, not sure if i'd say that. valve's steam client for linux is way glitchier than the windows version and there are 5 year old glitches that they won't fix.
What a way to start my week wind down. After work as soon as I settle home, ahh, nice.
AI eavesdropping on calls for whatever reason, is just a recipe for disaster in my frank opinion.
Gives off government surveillance vibes, yikes
I'd say the eavesdropping on photo's is more damning than the phone calls. Imo.
Great video. Love these updates. Don’t change a thing
Except, next year ( or possibly even earlier ) Google will announce they are closing 150 things...
It's crazy if you think about it.
The amount of times that Dell fucked up something in a very corporate way seems WAY outsized when one realizes their size.
So many leaks of customer and partner data, so many times they did something illegal (like the time they helped Intel stay strong against AMD in the 200..5s?) or something at the very least questionable (being at the forefront of upselling every costumer on some guarantee program that has them pay regularly for a service they will never get, their many products that use proprietary tech for no reason, making the I possible to repair).
Getting paid by microsoft to make people pay more if they wanted Linux/No OS

real BOM leaks sound somehow insane!
Dell seems to refer to "Qualcomm Nuvia chip", so this has to be relatively old leak. X Plus chip $145 is probably wholesales price with a significant quantity order required (on that point of time, when the document was created). 5 months delay in real launch date is also a good indicator, that the document is containing 1 to 2 year old data.
It's getting harder and harder to find stuff not infested with AI.
I can't believe how quickly these corporations hopped on with AI. There is more AI hype and integration in devices than there was "blockchain integration" hype during the crypto bubble.

A separate storage for private apps is already there in Xiaomi devices altleast 8 year ago. It's called Parallel Space.
A seperate storage with independent google account and play services, user can select apps they need for each space(app data is not shared)
I was about to point this out. It's One of the features that made me a religious Xiaomi user. Google's spaces will probably be infested with data snooping AI. So not that private IMO.
lmao the iOS bug could end some marriages
It's funnier how the EXACT same thing happened to Google Photos users months ago. I still haven't deleted my undeleted photos 😅
The display was the main reason I was interested in the Xperia 1 series. Unless they release something interesting later in the year, like a new generation of the Pro-I, I guess I'm either going for the previous generation and building ROMs for it, or getting a another brand that matches some of my other priorities.
Were you interested in the cameras? imo 4k was excessive for most users, eat up battery life and bill of materials, all while most folk didnt care. If you dont care about the camera then it seems it would be wise to release two models - a camera one and displey one (?)
@@pawepiat6170I'm interested in the cameras, and the headphone jack, but for me, they aren't as important as the screen. I actually did a deep dive on 4K screens on phones on my channel. The thing that surprised me the most during researching and testing was that some people with correct reading lenses legitimately don't see the difference. That blew my mind, because, for me, the difference is so clear.
@@pawepiat6170 I think my original reply got eaten. The cameras, headphone jack, and SD card reader interest me, but there are other phones the satisfy most of those while fitting more of my other priorities. The screen is really what sold this phone. I actually did a deep dive into 4k displays on phones, and what surprised me during research and testing is that: While some people do see the difference between 4k and lower resolutions on phones, some people legitimately don't see the difference, even with a correct glasses prescription. That blew my mind given how strong the difference is for me. I'm all for people being able to choose the specs that matter to them. But as far as I know, this was the last line of phones that still had 4k displays.
@@pawepiat6170 Unfortunately, my replies keep getting lost. So it looks like we can't have a constructive conversation. Thanks for your reply anyway.
@@pawepiat6170 Let's try this again, but much lighter:
> most folk didnt care
Sure. But you just need to browse a few forums on the topic to see that a lot of people really do, and do see the difference.
> to release two models
Until this year (VI), this is almost what the 1 vs 5 lines were:
* 10 was the budget line.
* 1 and 5 were the high end lines, with the main difference being the display. If people wanted 1080p, go for 5. If people wanted the 4k, go for 1. It was a solved problem.
The thing is, what ever aspect of the phone you care about, there are tons of options on the android market out there for you. And Sony themselves even provided a direct option with the 1080p display for you. But if you want a phone with a 4k display, this was the last line that I knew of (do you know of any other active line?). And it's been ruined by people who weren't even the target audience.
Sorry, but no - carpet cleaners (with water that is blasted down and sucked up) or the hard floor kind are not just electric mops. I would much rather use the machine version, and if you don't agree, you have a specific setup where mopping makes more sense or have never really had to do either.

@@Curiousinternetperaonyou mean rampent racism and cultural apropriation?
@@Curiousinternetperaon The main problem I have with Google’s announced features, especially with project astra, they have a history when it comes to AI features of over promising, and either under delivering or generally just not delivering the really cool feature that they show off at all to anybody and canceling it. GPT-4o’s video and conversational features will be rolling out over the coming weeks. Where as Astra is presented as their “Vision for the future of AI”. @@jarnMod uhhh I haven't seen inaccuracies or hallucinations that are significantly worse or better than other large LLMs like chat gpt, and in my experience, the only difference in people's minds when it comes to llms is either inherent bias against companies (Google for gemini, Microsoft/Altman for open AI - don't kid yourselves, Altman is as much a businessman with a past as the others), or statistically certain bad first experiences they had with them.
Here's a thought: I will NEVER in a million years use Google's AI for **anything**.

Interesting. I stopped using it because it sucks. What’s your reason? I’m genuinely interested
You wont use google ai but you will just give them your data
@@davranbekrozmetov9425 The simple reason is: That info-collecting Kraken already has way more of my information than I'd like (simply by me using Gmail, Google Keep and TH-cam). Giving it even more info about me via the use of its AI would be borderline suicidal. Or put another way: As long as decent product alternatives exist, I'd always prefer using those instead of feeding the evil Kraken. Google has already concentrated way too much power and they repeatedly abuse it.

What you told about deleting files on computers is not completely true. Most flash drives have secure erase which basically does what you would think. What you mean is deleting files manually - yes that's true the inode reference will be deleted (not the index) but if you wipe a phone it should do a secure erase.. but we are talking about apple which only hires junior Devs.
Wait, shouldn't flash storage use TRIM to fully delete deleted files?
Guess these pc arm chips are the real deal. I'd love to try one in a Microsoft surface
There is a slow and expensive version already, just try it, because the same with stronger SoC will be even more expensive.
supposedly the ones in the surface will be all qualcomm, wait and see i guess
I used the surface for the first 4 generations. They were great for portability but lousy to use for any significant work. Other than their weight I don't have any compelling reason to even look at them anymore and for the light work they can do there are other options.
I can't wait for gemini to return something on my behalf to Amazon and starts talking to Amazon's AI who handles the return 😂

So Google ruined search engines, are the going to ruin Ai next?
Hot take: AI has already been ruined from day 1. AI is just post-covid NFT cope
The filesystem on iOS doesn't work like the one on desktop operating systems. I believe on iOS every file is individually encrypted and when the phone is powered off the entire storage and encryption keys for each file are also encrypted on top of that using your password or pin code. If you delete something on an iPhone, this encryption key for that file is destroyed, so to get something that was actually permanently deleted restored on an iOS device would require that encryption key to also be restored. Unless if it's not doing that. If you know where the file was stored there is no way to get it back without the key for it. I know often iOS can behave weird when it comes to storing data, you got things like shared storage where if you for example, save a photo or voice memo to the Files app, it doesn't actually copy the file to the app, it actually just creates a link to that file, and as long as that link exists in the Files app, the original file of the Photo will be retained, even if you delete the photo fromt he photos app, the photo stays where it was. Also, it has happened to me very often that photos don't want to delete and reappear after a couple minutes, because it takes time for your phone to process deleting each photo if you do a lot at once. If your storage is completely full it might even completely refuse deleting anything until you reboot or something. They say the photo appeared at the top, which might give a hint on what causes it to happen.
I did not realize they had multi-key encryption enabled by default. If this holds true then none of the options for what is happening are really any good. If these apps hold on to the deleted files then they aren't actually deleting them which is not much better than icloud restoring files or some other flaw decrypting and indexing them.
@@MoreBollocks-ui2zs I didn't know it either for a long time, but I started researching their encryption algorithms when I had jailbroken my iPod on iOS 9, and I wanted to read the raw partition data but it was all encrypted, and even after finding out how to decrypt the partitions themselves, nothing was really readable. That was a while back and I believe devices before the iPhone 4 didn't have encryption, the Secure Enclave in modern Apple devices makes everything yet even more complex. It's almost scary because if one layer of encryption fails you lose your data. Luckily that doesn't happen (unless if you soft brick your system).
he meant the icloud servers
@@niveZz- I don't know if the photos restored from iCould are shown at the top in the photos app. I don't think so but it's possibe. Usually they only go to the top if they were recently added to the gallery, so they must be "imported" by something.

How is Qualcomm selling the X-elite cheaper than the Snapdragon 8 series? The laptops with the previous Qualcomm laptop grade chips cost the same as i7/i9 or more, and those were modified mobile chips?
I'm interested in this too! My best guess is that the laptops need fewer wireless components than phones which are the most expensive parts of the chip. Also Qualcomm might be trying to undercut Intel aggressively at launch.

In Windows at least: Total Commander properly deletes files, and as fast too, any undeleting app won't see anything to undelete, the Folder entry is 100% overwritten as empty
I've watched some testing videos of Google' s new models, and let's say I was not impressed
I presume the files are not actually deleted in the backend filesystem for the object store of the app. This is why you can't trust apple and should never treat it more than a kid's toy! Also, you must be in charge of all of the data flow, storage and backup.

I asked Gemini to create an image of a car doing donuts on the grass for me and it refused to do so, because that is illegal. And when I said it is my own lawn and it is in the middle of no where, so I won't be disturbing others, it still refused because that would be bad for the environment...
I have no interest in doing donuts on grass, I was testing the image creation model by asking for something random that I thought wouldn't have many images, because I imagine it would be hard to do donuts on grass... But yeah, it cared more about being politically correct than creating an image of a hypothetical situation.. I went over to ChatGPT and it did it on the first try, no having to convince it to bend it's rules.
