    Be careful putting the misses on the back of your bike - you might not recover financially 😁 I took my girlfriend for a ride on the back of my 500 last weekend. This weekend we picked up a Rebel (older 250) of her very own. She was looking at the 300's and 500's, but decided that she should learn to ride first, then upgrade to the one she really wants afterwards.

    • @LifeOfBurch
      @LifeOfBurch  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha fortunately my wife has no desire to get a bike of her own! We’ve been going on rides on my VFR ever since we’ve been together and she LOVES it, but has always said she prefers staying a passenger and just being able to come along for the ride.

      @@LifeOfBurch How awesome is that?! My gf was never a big fan of me having a bike. Then I finally talked her into going on a ride with me. After we were done, she said "I finally get it. @@LifeOfBurch Hey! Quick update in case your channel was interested. I bought and assembled the pegs today PERFECTLY based on your instructions. That part was a snap with your guidance. I got to the bike, though, and was only able to break one of the bolts for new side bracket free. I stripped the other badly fighting with it. I think the factory must loctite them? I ended up having to take it to the shop to have the bolt drilled out. I struggled badly with the passenger seat bolts, too, but eventually got those loose with sheer force and luck. I would say to anyone following this guide, those bolts can be an absolute monster. Before you work too much at it with a tiny 6mm hex, I would invest in a hex-key ratchet and breaker bar. That said, thanks to you I am now riding 2-up with my wife. Thank you!

    That VFR750 is so clean for the age of it. I almost bought a 1998 VFR800 but then decided to go for a newer bike, my 2018 KTM 390 Duke.

    • @LifeOfBurch

      It has something to do with licensing and legality. In certain countries in order to legally have a passenger, the bike has to come standard with everything necessary to have a passenger on the bike. Or something along those lines. In America, that’s not the case. So passenger setups aren’t always included, they’re an add on.

    Just 1 note about that seat
    When it is wet from either parked in the rain or washing the bike, the seat soaks water for like half a day
    Sitting on it will wet your pants for that whole day
    Other than that, the seat is rather cheap and very comfortable
    I have done 10 hours ride of 700 km on it last winter, and didn't feel any cramp or numbness at all

      @LifeOfBurch  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks man! Unfortunately that’s just how the pegs come, no other options. You can buy aftermarket pegs or probably powder coat them, but it doesn’t bother me enough to do anything about it. I’d end up spending the majority of what the entire kit cost just to change the color. Plus, it doesn’t look super out of place since I haven’t blacked my forks out or anything.

    I just got a Rebel 500 and your videos are great and right to the point. Just a question on the seat. Does it sit taller than the stock seat? My biggest complaint is the stock seat being so low not that comfy and the controls are right where you sit a little awkward. If the controls were a little forward or the seat taller I think it would be perfect. I was looking at a scrambler kit but that seems way too much work. Wondering if you thought the new seat made it more comfortable for your back and legs as well.

    As I can see in your video you too had some serious difficulty loosening the bolts to attach the left side bracket (it’s like the damn things are welded on). I was able to get one but I fear I have stripped the other. Has anyone else’s had issues with this or found fixes? For anyone who has yet to try I suggest spending a little money and getting a socket version of the 8 mm hex. The angle with a normal wrench and the amount of torque it takes to loosen some of the bolts is a recipe for disaster. Anyone have a way to loosen a somewhat stripped bolt?

      You’ll notice that the pictures don’t look exactly like the seat I got. And that’s because allegedly the manufacturer slightly changed the design and didn’t let the company know. So I was expecting the all black version of what’s in the pictures, but received this seat. Which is part of why I was refunded the $50. And like I mentioned, it also had 2 small tears when I got it. You have to get the Honda kit. Although I believe a few aftermarket companies make cheap knockoffs now. But for the price, I’d just stick to Honda personally.

    Can anyone link a 2 person seat for a 2002 Suzuki marauder?

    looks a little cramped up there on the seat. Too bad someone didn't create foot pegs in a different position of the frame.

    Is the Honda Rebel 500 good for touring?

    • @LifeOfBurch

      There are plenty of people who use it for that! Personally that’s not my goal with the bike, but I can see how it would be doable. There’s probably more comfortable bikes out there for super long hauls though.

      LifeOfBurch Thanks! I am looking into a motorcycle to get and I want one that’s capable of doing trips. Keep up the great work!

    Dude it is IMPOSSIBLE to take the damn bolts off of the side of the bike. I've been struggling for hours trying to take them out. The bolts are super weak and get stripped easily, and now it's impossible to move. So annoying.

    • @LifeOfBurch
      @LifeOfBurch  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea man lots of people have said that unfortunately 😔 Mine were a pain in the ass, but nowhere near as bad as others I’ve talked to. A few have suggested putting the Allen key in and then hitting it with a hammer, almost as if you’re nailing something in to the bolt. That apparently helps break the threads lose and also helps seat the Allen key in the bolt. Give that a shot if you haven’t yet!

      @@LifeOfBurch Thanks for replying! Good to know others are having this problem too, and it's not just that I'm a weakling.
      I tried the hammer thing, but didn't work. Also tried adding penetrating oil. I was able to take one of the bolts out by using a locking plier/vise grip, but the other one hasn't budged.
      Guess I'll have to continue trying. Thanks!

      @@pepecebolla69 I'm having trouble getting the front bolt off as well, the other one came out fine. The front one just doesn't budge, it's like it's welded! What a paint in the neck! I'm going to take it to a pro tomorrow. Just not worth it. Poor setup by Honda to make it so difficult to take the bolt out, from what I see, it provides no structural integrity as it is now, so why bolt it in so hard...makes no sense.

    • @pepecebolla69

      FWIW, I ended up succeeding when using a vise grip to unscrew the bolt. The vise grip had to be on extremely tight so it wouldn't slip off when rotating.

    Would be a little nicer if the quilted pattern on the drivers section of the seat didn’t rap around the edge on the front underneath were your thighs would be on each side. Other than that I love that seat!!

      Well that’s part of why I got a $50 refund actually! The picture on their website showed that the diamond pattern didn’t continue all the way down, but then it showed up looking like this. They pretty much just said, “Oh uh the manufacturer didn’t tell us they changed the design. You can send it back if you want, but they’re all gonna look like that now.” Like oookay thanks guys... 😂🤷🏼‍♂️

    god, can't take my eyes off the "orange"~~~ I have to say, my friend, you're "terrible"! And I mean it in a good way, I loved the all-black look of the rebel, until you showed the orange tank, and I was a fan for the single-seat until I saw your new seat, and start to make me thinking: yea, It will be good if we can take my family or friend rid with me.... lol, nice work~
