My dad has had his PS2 phat since launch date and it still plays games fine! Yeah, most ppl that work at Game Stop hate their job, so they treat the customers like shit, or they don't know much about games or game consoles.You can still find new PS2 controllers pretty easily. I would go with a wireless Logitech brand controller. I try to avoid purchasing stuff from Game Stop.
You're reminding me of when I bought my PS2 back in 2001, it was of course an original model PAL version, but the menu sounds and startup sounds are all the same, oh 2001, the memories, the awesome times I had back then, the awesome music, and the PS2.
I had problems playing PlayStation2 CD-ROM game discs in my original early 2001 model PS2 when I had one, it's one of the things I didn't like about my PS2 and one of the reasons why I eventually sold it.
The reason why your DualShock2 controller didnt work before because the connectors/prongs were missing. i ordered a PS1 dualshock controller off of amazon and their was one prong missing WTF. I ordered 2 dualshock controllers off of Ebay for ps1 and they functioned proprely with the prongs inserted.
@lmull3 I used to love the Fat models but now I'm over the slim ones. My friend had the opposite story 1st he liked the slim model but now he likes the Fat model beacuse you can put a hard drive in the Expansion Bay.
wow, i liked the fat version because of the fact that it is tray loading as opposed to top loading.. and that is because i could just stack one of my other consoles on top of it.. but i need to save up some money to get another PS2 :\ btw, do you know about any issues regarding the slim screwing up the discs?

Got myself a Slim model PS2 (well I had a fat model but traded it in).
Crash Team Racing was the last Crash game made by Naughty Dog, the rest was Traveller's Tale and now its currently Vicarious Visions.

Dude i heard that the fat version is better than the slim ver because if u use the slim for too long the laser breakes and also mess up ur game
