Low tier game-play is excellent. You never know what will happen. At high tiers its like ballet dancing, 1, 2 poke, 3, 4 boom, didn't even scratch him. 1, 2 poke 3, 4 boom, that one hit the fly-screen (on that why don't they make airy tanks with just fly-screen?). These low tier games were both edge-of-the-seat fun drama. 🍺😁👍
What is there to love about this super slow tank? God like armour against same and lower tiers (even the sides), god like dpm and, just to had the cherry on top of the delicious cacke, 10 degrees of beautiful gun depression.
It's a love thing, Tilly and me. I have Tilly on both the NA and EU servers and I've had more fun games with it than any other tank. As seen it will fight like a rat in a corner! An experienced player can handle a Matilda, but she will punish the clueless. It is a sniper tank, though in a dog fight players often underestimate her ability to traverse and get punished for their stupidity! Saying that it is not a brawling tank. Shooting at distance and not getting spotted it will deal out the pain!! There are some really fun tanks at tier four. I love playing the tier. The M6 reminds me of the old tier five M4. The armor is Swiss cheese but the gun, as seen, is amazing at tier four. After having frustrating games at higher tiers there is no better therapy than taking out the featured tanks for a spin. Have fun, I do!
Quite a few years ago WG had some weekend event were tons of people where playing the PZB2. It was great fun all weekend rolling out in the Matilda and smoking them.
The Valentine is firing HE, not because he's a muppet, but because that's the gun he has mounted, the howitzer. It CAN do a lot of damage, but it's notoriously inaccurate at range.
Yes, glad someone pointed that out. Takes a lot of skill, patience and luck to use those guns. T40, Wolverine, M8A1, T6, M4A1 plus many others have a derpy gun that can be rewarding and have allowed me to do over 3000 damage at tier 4 on a number of occasions - without firing gold. More often than not, though, I find that equipping the gun gives you a higher chance of being bottom tier or against high armoured tanks.
If you see ONORISS on your team, you’re starting the game down one tank. Looking at his stats, he’s got 498 games in his KV-1 with a WN8 of 2.85 and 3.4 damage per game. Assuming he mounted the 85mm, he’s averaging one penetrating hit in 47 games.
such an obvious bot program...why isn't ONORISS banned at this point? this is the state of the game now...i see one to three of these kind of players every game these days...not every game, but often enough to be bloody annoying.
We used to run a Matilda Waltz (Platoon) with 1.7sec reload once we locked on an enemy it was like being hammered by a Pz1C or Luchs but non stop. Can't remember how many Tier 5 Shermans we made evaporate. Now though, the gold spam and the fact that the tier 5 and under revamp ramped up everybody's hp and pen, but not the matilda main gun is hard... tanks I used to take apart in 3-4 hits now take 10-12.
Just found this old gem. Love my Matty, one of my best tanks. Never thought to use HEAT in the M6. I do in the Panzer IV, so why not? Looking forward to trying it.
Both games were really well-played. Fun to watch. I may be adding the Matilda and T6 Medium to my collection. Won a strange match recently, using a tier IV T-28E F-30, against tier VI. No kills...won with spotting assist damage (Patrol Duty), with a couple of nice shots, and lots of irritating RNG misses, too. I uploaded it to WoTReplays... I'm loving these low-tier comparison videos, Claus. There are some awesome matches out there!
it's the first tank I play every session, all AP no gold. Great thing about it; it's slow that it doesn't get you into trouble, can't get you out of trouble either... still, first game in any other medium & I'm dead at the front line.
I've gone to spot in Tilly! Crazy, probably, but if no one on your team is prepared to go spot, what do you do? Wait for the enemy to come and get you? Not in my nature. There again, I've gone to spot with the Bishop on Prok'!!! Got blasted, but I did reveal the enemy and we won the game. WOT is not all about statpadders, some of us actually try to play the game as it's meant to be played!
@@generalpublic3744 NB the game has spotters, meds, hevs... & SPGs not to mention cars... so "meant to be played" is a very wide variable. Specific styles can however be played out side of RANDOM. I've played my matilda as a spotter too; with binos, fans, camo/turb it can be a great spotter. Sitting still is it's breakfast & tea.
Matilda was my first Model kit that I completed unassisted as a kid. It was bound to be my first "target tank" when I began playing, will never sell it.
Love this tank and have had it for ages. Went back to it recently. I've had a couple of 9 kill games and many with 5 or 6 kills. Great for ripping through the long haul as games are generally pretty quick.

My Matilda is right up there in my most played tanks, with a crew with five skills each it’s great fun! The really good news is you can slap a turbo on the engine, it seems to come into effect going down hill! Platooning in Matilda’s can be fantastic fun, just have to hope the game comes to you rather than trying to catch up to it.
I have two Matilda's, LVT and Black Prince but never play them as just too darn slow for me moving and maybe why one would want a 6 skill crew is to free the rust up and get it rolling better.
It is true that occasionally Tilly can not get into the battle, especially on large maps with faster tanks on your team. When it does engage there is no better tank than Tilly to learn how to shoot and shoot well! I have had some really for fights with Tilly and even in a losing situation she will sell her life dearly. Practice your patience and you will be rewarded.
Just had a Matilda game on my brand new NA server account. (I'm in UK so play on EU usually) Only got 20 games played - but I played the Topography maps to get a bunch of credits and free XP so I could go straight to the Matilda for my first T4. For some reason when I logged in this morning the client dumped me onto the SA server and I got a game of 12 vs 12, with 4 bots per team. Tier 5 game, in which an O-I Exp and myself basically carried our team - End came down to myself on low health vs the French T5 heavy on around 550 hp - That Matilda gun tore the French heavy to pieces. Amazing little tank - though struggles VERY badly in tier 6 matchmaking. And that T6...... The Matilda may well have borderline OP armour - But that T6's gun is WAY OP at tier 4

That's what I say... Lower tiers are way funnier than higher tiers. The DRAMA!!! Almost all have less armor, so receiving damage is way more critical than those on higher tiers. Sometimes there's fast games, finishing in less than three minutes, but sometimes we have those jewels of more than ten minutes of battle.
Many people Remember the Matilda as great: 1) When it had 800 health 2) before W.G introduced a swath of pen all tanks. This guy played well and only received 8 hits... DO NOT expect the armor to work, it will not. Respect to RyRon911 🙂👍 not the Matilda tank 👎.
Claus, it’s the Cruiser 1, 2, 3 from tiers 1-3, the Medium Mark xs are collectors tanks now. They’ve changed the early brit tree in recent years, look it up!
@@Logovanni The Valentine is also slow, but an excellent beginner tank as it has armor to compensate for any mistakes made. They are not the easiest tank to kill.
Cruiser II was a tier III mini KV-2. I wish they'd bring it back as a collectors tank. I mentioned it to one of the WOT NA staff and they thought it was a great idea.
Really fun games today! I have a group of freinds that will ONLY play tier 4, and when they invite me to platoon these two tanks are my go to tanks to play. They are super fun!
If you feature the Japanese Meds - Don't miss the Chi-Ha Technically it's a light, but sits between the T2 and T4 meds in the tech-tree... I absolutely LOVE that little thing. No idea why, it doesn't do anything outstandingly well - maybe it just "Suits my playstyle" The Chinese Chi-Ha too - Both T3 'keepers' for me.

Never played it myself - I s'pose it's probably an OK credit maker and crew trainer, but otherwise is probably just a bit...meh! I love my Matilda, but by heck, it's difficult to ace it! I've had amazing games with 2k + damage, top gun etc and still only a first... Because of people who play it this well! I actually have a turbo on mine to boost speed by 4kph.
It looks like the Matilda doesn't have the 'Johnson Adapter' to increase his rate of fire mounted? Long time since I played it. Fun tank though... I like to play my Hetzer now and again, but find the HE doesn't seem to do much damage now with the 105mm gun,, and HEAT doesn't seem to be much better, and hate the Matilda's and KV-1's.... But then it is probably just me....:)
my Matilda is my goto tank when I want some credits and fun, got 2-3000 battles in it, your right when need to commit to one direction or the other, have ended up 3-4 to ME when I don't get any support, sometimes able to take 1 or 2 out though all get damaged lol. AND it is fun when tier 3s come up with the little guns and bounce, remember bounce 600 from one tank lol
I put turbo on my Matilda. I play Matilda when i have some bad games in other vehicles as a get happy again fix. Even when i get over 1000 damage we still seem to lose a lot. Wargaming really needs teams balanced with skill level the most.
All the Matties are GREAT tanks except for the LVT which is a POS. Never played the T6 but might try it. I don't do very well with the derpy guns so it might not suit my playstyle.
When it comes to howitzer at low tier, I prefer Alecto as a fun tank to play. It has fantastic mobility and almost unreal camo. Matilda I already have with pretty decent crew for some stat padding once in a while :D
You don't see many players playing the Alecto. I don't know why because it can perform well. Long time since I played it, but you can rack up good damage on the right map. as I recall the downside is it gets easily owned by fast, fast firing tanks, which is probably why you don't see many on the battlefield.

T6 aim circle takes forever with derp and tank has little armor. I prefer 76 mm gun and use gold only when i need. I much prefer the Lee as gun is superior and with knowledge of tank can work well.
I have never understood the low opinion the M3 Lee has. The gun is superb. As Claus said, play it like a TD. You can really rack up damage it you play it right.
Marder 38t is a true gem too, I recommend it for everyone, just put bionos camo and low noise donkey and you are ready to go, you are fast, fast shooting and big gun angle? (left right aim)!? XD have fun too all of you !
It's way harder to train crews now then back around 2013, because it's about the money part as to cut this game up to point that crews don't just drop in on a gold tank anymore because they renamed them in a way and why crew books exist to slow you down.
@@kravenfoxbodies2479 In the early days , crew skills took a long time to get and were part of the grind. I have crews that look very dated in some of my tanks. Getting better crews has always been very expensive and WG does very nicely from that revenue.

The Matilda gamer is kind of a muppet too, he jerks his mouse when firing. The other problem is: anyone thats played the Matilda knows - moving or sitting still it’s an easy kill by hitting its sides or back (which is easy to do).
Matilda has always been my favorite "go to" tank as guaranteed fun for five years.
And STILL aggravates me how slow they are.

I have done some similar with a matilda - it is so stressful. Spent the evening high wired and unable to sleep. Great effort.

The Matilda can perform well in tier 6 if you keep your distance and try to get into a map position where you can get the sides of the slow tanks.

I love playing the low tiers, so much less camping and hilarious too! I've got both these tanks, but still play my T4 Alecto more. Its the E25 of T4.
That M6 is pure fun. I've been playing it for the last 2 weeks non-stop. It's a blast! Literaly ;)

Repurchased the Matilda. I didn't use to save tanks as I went up the line, but now regret selling some of the lower level tanks.
I had to stop playing the Matilda because I wanted to get to the higher tiers. [Now, seal clubbing IS fun.] Loving the Series!

Reload with intuition with my crew is 1 second when switching ammo type.
The E2 with HE and that great turret was a bomb to play. Hulled down, bouncing everything, and blasting dudes. Good days!

I cannot agree that tier 4 games shooting gold is 'amazing'
My favorite tier 4, is the kind of rare T-28E with F-30 , ( i know its russian! ). That machine gun Matilda game, epic.
I too have both, play matilda and if I get killed early then I play the T28E with F-30. Between the two I have epic games.

All the Matties are GREAT tanks except for the LVT which is a POS. Never played the T6 but might try it. I don't do very well with the derpy guns so it might not suit my playstyle.
When it comes to howitzer at low tier, I prefer Alecto as a fun tank to play. It has fantastic mobility and almost unreal camo. Matilda I already have with pretty decent crew for some stat padding once in a while :D
You don't see many players playing the Alecto. I don't know why because it can perform well. Long time since I played it, but you can rack up good damage on the right map. as I recall the downside is it gets easily owned by fast, fast firing tanks, which is probably why you don't see many on the battlefield.

Good morning Claus, Keep your content coming. Ever think about branching out to other games. So many of your viewers dont even play WOT anymore but love your videos.
T6 aim circle takes forever with derp and tank has little armor. I prefer 76 mm gun and use gold only when i need. I much prefer the Lee as gun is superior and with knowledge of tank can work well.
I have never understood the low opinion the M3 Lee has. The gun is superb. As Claus said, play it like a TD. You can really rack up damage it you play it right.

I loved playing my Matilda so much, I stayed with it till my crew had 3 fully trained skills before I moved up a tier!
It's way harder to train crews now then back around 2013, because it's about the money part as to cut this game up to point that crews don't just drop in on a gold tank anymore because they renamed them in a way and why crew books exist to slow you down.
@@kravenfoxbodies2479 In the early days , crew skills took a long time to get and were part of the grind. I have crews that look very dated in some of my tanks. Getting better crews has always been very expensive and WG does very nicely from that revenue.
@@kravenfoxbodies2479 It seems a lot easier now than it used to be to me. There is always something going on for a mission, boosters, crew books. There used to be on-track missions and the odd event.

I don't have the Matilda yet. I do have the T-6 but it hasn't worked like this one! It could be me.
I have the Matilda BP but hardly play it, too slow. The T6 I loved until the HE nerf then I sold it

The Matilda gamer is kind of a muppet too, he jerks his mouse when firing. The other problem is: anyone thats played the Matilda knows - moving or sitting still it’s an easy kill by hitting its sides or back (which is easy to do).
i only play my Matilda with a howitzer gun. Now.. that is fun!
